In the days that followed, Ye Wen led his seven disciples on a soul hunting expedition. Thanks to the overwhelming power of his mutated Void Mimicry soul skill, none of the spirit beasts in the outer regions were able to detect their presence.
The Huo siblings were extremely lucky, encountering a family of Golden Bears—a subspecies related to the Mighty Bear they had previously obtained for their second soul rings. The two Golden Bears were perfectly suited for the siblings' third soul rings—one with 4,000 years of cultivation and the other with 5,000 years.
Without any suspense, the Huo siblings delivered the final blow to these two dominant Golden Bears. The soul skills they obtained were identical:
Third Soul Skill – Adamantine Body.
- Huo Quan: Increases full-body defense by 60% for three minutes.
- Huo Rui: Increases full-body defense by 50% for three minutes.
As for the remaining five young disciples, based on the unique characteristics of their martial souls, Ye Wen designed different strategies for their soul ring acquisitions.
---
Su Qiaoqiao's Embroidered Cloud Needle Martial Soul
Since her martial soul was a needle, it naturally needed sewing capabilities. Therefore, Ye Wen decided that her first soul ring should come from a spider-type spirit beast. He hunted a 400-year-old Warhammer Spider for her.
Unlike ordinary spiders, this species didn't weave webs. Its abdomen wasn't pear-shaped but oval. Its hunting method involved spitting out large amounts of silk, forming a ball-like object. If this ball directly hit the head of its prey, it was almost always fatal. Even if it stuck to the body, survival chances were slim.
Its silk adhesive was far stronger than that of ordinary spider-type spirit beasts. Once stuck to the head, it would deprive the prey of its ability to breathe, leaving no room for resistance. If wrapped around the torso, the prey might still attempt to cut through the silk with a sharp weapon.
After absorbing the soul ring, Su Qiaoqiao gained the ability to generate this powerful silk.
First Soul Skill – Soul Thread Connection:
This skill allows her to create highly adhesive silk threads infused with soul power. Even severed limbs can be sewn back together. When paired with strong life restoration abilities, it could achieve miraculous feats like limb regeneration.
Unfortunately, Su Qiaoqiao was still too young to master advanced sewing techniques. However, her future potential was undeniable.
---
Hu Rou's Soft Boned Rabbit Martial Soul
Among the five young disciples, Hu Rou's physical capabilities were undoubtedly the strongest due to her animal-type martial soul. Before reaching the Soul Sage level, animal-type martial souls provided unparalleled physical enhancements.
Ye Wen hunted a 500-year-old Flexible Bone Rabbit for her. Based on his research, he believed that soul masters absorbed the greatest benefits when their soul rings matched their own species—similar to the principle of mimicking optimal training environments.
While there wasn't much noticeable difference at the first soul ring stage, after absorption, Hu Rou's transformed figure became even more slender, with long, powerful legs exuding youthful vitality. Looking at the fluffy rabbit ears atop her head, Ye Wen couldn't resist playfully petting them.
"Ah~ Master, you're so mean!" Hu Rou pouted shyly.
When Ye Wen asked about the soul skill she had obtained:
First Soul Skill – Waist Bow:
Similar to the hundred-thousand-year Rogue Rabbit's first soul skill. However, as expected, a mere hundred-year-old Flexible Bone Rabbit wouldn't have anything extraordinary. The reason rabbit-type spirit beasts were often considered inferior was their lack of offensive power, prioritizing escape over combat.
{T/N: Rogue Rabbit is Xiao Wu's nickname, for her behavior of sleeping with Tang San, an underage boy and also causing trouble in general}
Fortunately, she didn't receive the Charm skill, which Ye Wen considered utterly useless. At best, it could only bully weaker opponents, while stronger ones could easily turn it against her—a complete waste of a skill.
---
Xu Teng's Demon Vine Martial Soul
Xu Teng acquired a 500-year-old Ghost Vine, gaining the soul skill Parasite. Combined with the terrifying innate talent of his Demon Vine, being entangled by his vines often resulted in either death or severe injury.
---
Wang Bao's Alchemy Furnace Martial Soul
For Wang Bao, Ye Wen hunted a 500-year-old Fire Lizard. Though unassuming, this spirit beast possessed faint dragon lineage and fire attributes, making it suitable for Wang Bao's alchemical pursuits.
First Soul Skill – Roaming Flame:
Generates a flame from the alchemy furnace that can heat the martial soul itself or be launched as an attack. While not particularly powerful, it laid the foundation for future growth.
---
Dongfang Jiaojiao's Light Staff Martial Soul
Due to the extreme rarity of light-attribute spirit beasts, the group spent an entire week searching before finally finding a 400-year-old Radiant Butterfly.
During their search, they encountered several other light-attribute spirit beasts, but all were thousand-year-level, far beyond Dongfang Jiaojiao's current capacity to absorb.
Regrettably, aside from Su Qiaoqiao, whose martial soul and physical aptitude were within the average range for soul masters, the other four disciples could handle soul rings up to 500 years. Dongfang Jiaojiao had to settle for a soul ring below her absorption limit. Fortunately, the attribute alignment was perfect, enhancing her martial soul's light essence.
First Soul Skill – Light Butterfly Dance:
Generates butterflies composed of light energy. Allies are imbued with light-attribute bonuses, while enemies are struck by explosive light attacks.

Reflections and Return
The group was delighted with the results of their month-long efforts. Seeing the youngest disciple acquire such a promising soul skill brought relief to everyone.
"Excellent. This soul hunting expedition was a complete success.
However, I want you to remember: during soul ring hunts, you must remain vigilant at all times. In this spirit forest, you face not only spirit beast attacks but also the malice of other soul masters. This is a lawless land—even a Title Douluo could die here without anyone questioning it.
Though this time, because of me, you avoided direct conflict with other soul masters, I'm sure you've witnessed the brutal aftermath of their battles.
Take this lesson to heart. Though I am your master, I cannot protect you at all times."
"Yes, Master," the disciples replied.
While the Huo siblings remained calm, the other five children visibly paled, recalling unpleasant memories.
Seeing this, Ye Wen nodded in satisfaction and began leading the group back.
The journey home was mostly uneventful, though Ye Wen did manage to collect a few valuable spirit beast corpses along the way.
"When Ah Yin reaches the Soul King level and her spiritual power evolves, her Blue Silver Domain should allow her to communicate with other Blue Silver Grass. Then we can start our corpse-collecting business!" Ye Wen thought happily.
