Douluo Dao : Soul Archer: The Bow of Destiny

Chapter 102: The Battle for Lightning: Facing the Thunderstorm Roc

The Thunderstorm Roc was a sight to behold—a colossal eagle-like beast, its body covered in black and silver feathers that crackled with untamed electricity. It radiated power, each flap of its massive ten-meter wings sending bursts of wind and static charge through the air. According to my knowledge of spirit beast this is approximate at age of 16000 years and I think I can absorb it's ring.

Feng Xuan crouched low on the rocky ledge, his golden eyes fixed on the creature, studying its every move. He knew this battle wouldn't be easy.

"This isn't just any spirit beast." He muttered under his breath. "It's a ruler of the storm."

He tightened his grip on his Vijaya Bow.

Speed and mobility. That was the key. If he could ground it, he would win.

But before he could formulate a full strategy—

"SCREEEEEEECH!"

The Roc let out a deafening cry, its golden eyes locking onto him with fierce intelligence.

Then, in an instant, it dove straight at him.

Feng Xuan barely had time to react.

BOOM!

A bolt of natural lightning followed the beast's descent, crashing into the ledge where he stood. The explosion sent fiery arcs of energy outward, scorching the rocks and sending shards flying.

"Damn!" Feng Xuan hissed, instincts kicking in as he activated Spatial Blink.

A flash of golden light—

And in the next moment, he reappeared mid-air, dodging the strike just in time. The Roc, however, wasn't finished.

Swoosh!

With a single flap of its wings, the air twisted violently, forming a razor-sharp wind blade that tore through the sky toward him.

"Fast!"

Feng Xuan didn't hesitate. He summoned his Vijaya Bow in an instant, drawing the string as spiritual energy surged into his fingertips.

Zephyr's Edge!

An invisible wind-infused arrow shot forward, colliding with the Roc's attack mid-air. The impact sent turbulence rippling through the canyon, scattering the dark clouds above for just a moment.

Feng Xuan landed back on solid ground, his breathing steady but tense.

The Roc hovered high above him, its feathers bristling with lightning as it circled him like a predator.

He narrowed his eyes.

"This won't be easy."

The storm around them intensified. Cold raindrops began to fall, thin sheets of water soaking Feng Xuan's cloak. Lightning crackled in the sky, illuminating the battlefield with erratic flashes of white and violet.

But Feng Xuan wasn't afraid.

This was the perfect battlefield for him.

He took a deep breath and activated Elemental Fusion.

His body flashed with golden and violet arcs, his bow humming with power as lightning and wind fused into his arrows. The moment he drew the bowstring, the storm itself seemed to bend to his will.

"Let's see how you handle this."

He released the arrow—

Storm Gale Arrow!

The second the arrow left his bow, a miniature tornado formed around it, carrying charged electricity as it rushed toward the Roc like a spear of the storm itself.

"SCREEEEEEECH!"

The Roc let out a piercing cry, dodging left with blinding speed—

But Feng Xuan was faster.

Spatial Blink!

He vanished from the ground, reappearing right in the Roc's blind spot mid-air, bow already drawn again.

Chain Thunder Arrow!

A streak of blue-white lightning shot across the sky, arcing toward the Roc's left wing.

CRACK!

The attack struck true, sending pulses of electricity coursing through the beast's body. Its wing seized up, muscles paralyzed, and for the first time—it faltered mid-air.

Feng Xuan seized the moment.

With another blink, he landed directly on the Roc's back, gripping onto its lightning-infused feathers.

"This thing is overflowing with energy," he muttered, feeling the raw power surging through its body.

The beast buckled violently, screeching in protest as it tried to shake him off. The winds roared, and the world below spun in a blur of rain and electricity.

But Feng Xuan held on tight.

And then—he struck.

Pressing his palm onto the Roc's back, he summoned his next attack.

Solar Flare Burst!

BOOM!

A shockwave of golden solar energy erupted outward, slamming into the Roc's body like a fiery explosion. The Thunderstorm Roc let out a final, desperate screech, its wings failing to respond.

Then—it fell.

Plummeting like a meteor toward the ground.

Feng Xuan leaped off just in time, using the last flickers of Spatial Blink to teleport to safety as the massive beast crashed into the rocky earth below.

The impact sent tremors rippling through the mountains, dust and sparks flying everywhere.

For a long moment, there was only silence.

Then, slowly, Feng Xuan stood at the edge of the crater, gazing down at the fallen Roc.

Its golden eyes, once brimming with power, dimmed as its strength faded. It was still alive, but its energy was now his to take.

Feng Xuan let out a slow breath.

"That was one hell of a fight."

And now—it was time to claim his fourth spirit ring.
