Douluo Dalu: The Legend of The Spider Emperor

Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Hu Liena – Shocked for a Whole Year

The woman standing before Ye Hao was Hu Liena, a disciple of Spirit Hall. Her teacher? None other than the Supreme Pontiff herself—Bibi Dong.

At this moment, Ye Hao was undeniably shocked.

As expected, after joining Spirit Hall, he had finally caught Bibi Dong's attention.

Now, what was he supposed to do?

As a transmigrator, Ye Hao had based everything he did on Bibi Dong, practically replicating her methods. And now, the original was coming for the copycat—this was going to be awkward.

Maintaining his composure, Ye Hao cleared his throat and said, "You're the Supreme Pontiff's disciple. Why have you come here?"

Hu Liena raised an eyebrow at his calm reaction, quietly impressed by his ability to remain unshaken.

Anyone else would probably be paralyzed with fear.

But something puzzled her—why had Ye Hao looked so stunned when he first heard that her teacher was the Supreme Pontiff?

"I'm here on a very special mission," Hu Liena said mysteriously.

Ye Hao narrowed his eyes. "A… special mission?"

He could already guess what it was. Bibi Dong was looking for him. Otherwise, she would never have sent her own disciple personally.

"What kind of special mission?" Ye Hao asked.

Hu Liena pointed at him. "You."

Ye Hao froze for a moment. Just as I thought.

Hu Liena smiled. "I came here for two reasons. First, after our brief encounter in Spirit Hall, I reported back to my teacher. The moment I mentioned that you possessed the Death Spider Emperor martial soul—one of the martial soul my teacher also possesses—she took an interest in you. You know the rest."

"As for the second reason, I'm here to invite you to officially join Spirit Hall."

Then, her expression turned serious.

"Ye Hao, do you realize something?"

Ye Hao couldn't quite figure out what she was getting at. "What?"

Hu Liena took a step closer, carefully studying his face.

"You look so much like my teacher."

She reached out her hands, tracing his features as if trying to confirm her thoughts.

It was almost unbelievable—two people in this world looking so eerily alike.

If Ye Hao and Bibi Dong stood side by side…

Qian Daoliu and the others: He's definitely her son! Get the knives!

As Bibi Dong's personal disciple, Hu Liena had spent more time with her than anyone else.

At this moment, even she couldn't help but think—if her teacher saw Ye Hao in person, she would undoubtedly be stunned.

Ye Hao, speechless, swatted her hands away. "Alright, alright, enough of that."

"First, I've already joined Spirit Hall. Second, so what if we look alike? I am Ye Hao, and your teacher is your teacher. Don't confuse the two."

Hu Liena pouted. "I was just curious. Before I left, my teacher specifically told me to observe you carefully. And now that I have… you really do resemble her. It's almost like…"

She paused.

Ye Hao raised an eyebrow. "Like what?"

Hu Liena thought for a moment, then smiled mischievously. "Like mother and son."

"Pfft—!"

Ye Hao turned into a human fountain, spraying tea everywhere.

He wiped his mouth, staring at Hu Liena in shock.

"I'm serious!" Hu Liena said earnestly. "You look so much like her. Even I, her disciple, can't ignore it. I can already imagine how my teacher will react when she sees you—it's going to be very interesting."

Hu Liena's mind was already running wild with possibilities.

Ye Hao, on the other hand, forced a stiff smile. That meeting is going to be more awkward than anything else.

Then, Hu Liena suddenly frowned. "Wait, you said you already joined Spirit Hall? What do you mean?"

She had come on a mission to recruit Ye Hao, and while she had confirmed that he resembled her teacher, she hadn't even formally invited him yet!

So how was he already a member?

Seeing her bewildered expression, Ye Hao chuckled. "I joined before you even got here. So really, your trip was pointless."

"You've met me now, Hu Liena. Time for you to head back."

With that, Ye Hao stepped out of the room.

Not far away, in the shadows, three figures were huddled together—one dog, two spiders—whispering among themselves like gossiping old ladies.

Ye Hao locked eyes with them.

The moment they realized they had been caught, they bolted.

Ye Hao shook his head, ignoring them. Who knows what kind of nonsense they're up to now?

By this point, the back garden had essentially become a spider's nest. Webs stretched everywhere, making it impossible for anything—not even flies or mosquitoes—to survive.

So, Ye Hao had simply given the place over to them.

Behind him, Hu Liena wasn't about to let things go.

"Wait! I still have more questions!" She followed after him persistently.

Ye Hao sighed and massaged his temples. "Fine, follow me. I'll take you to someone who can answer your questions."

He led her into a room filled with books. Clearly, this was a study.

Ye Hao walked over to the desk, reached for the chair's armrest, and twisted it.

Click—

Instantly, the bookshelf shifted, revealing a dark, narrow passageway.

Hu Liena's eyes widened in surprise. "Where does this lead?"

Ye Hao walked ahead calmly. "You'll see when we get there. You might even recognize the people inside."

"I know them?" Hu Liena's curiosity grew.

Most of the people she was familiar with were from Spirit Hall—elders, high-ranking officials, and disciples.

As they approached the end of the passageway, a bright light shone through.

Hu Liena shielded her eyes for a moment before stepping into a grand, luxurious hall—far more opulent than Ye Hao's residence.

She looked around, amazed. "Ye Ritian, where is this place?"

Ye Hao sighed. "Just call me Ye Hao."

Being addressed as "Ye Ritian" all the time felt strange.

Just then, Snake Spear Douluo appeared before them.

"Saintess, what brings you to Heaven Dou City?"

Snake Spear Douluo was taken aback. As the Saintess of Spirit Hall, Hu Liena spent most of her time within its walls. Unless it was for a highly classified mission, only the Supreme Pontiff, Bibi Dong, would send her out personally.

But after a moment's thought, Snake Spear Douluo seemed to realize something.

"Snake Spear Douluo, Hu Liena wants to know about me. Do me a favor and explain things to her—I have other matters to attend to."

With that, Ye Hao stepped into the passageway, disappearing into the darkness.

Before Hu Liena could say anything, Snake Spear Douluo suddenly asked, "Saintess, why have you come all the way from Spirit Hall to Heaven Dou City? Did the Supreme Pontiff send you here to find Young Master Ye?"

"Huh?" Hu Liena's eyelid twitched. "Ye… Young Master Ye? Are you talking about Ye Hao?"

Snake Spear Douluo nodded. "Did the Supreme Pontiff not tell you?"

Hu Liena shook her head in confusion, her expression a mix of amusement and disbelief. "Teacher didn't mention anything about that. Elder She, what's going on?"

Since Hu Liena had asked the key question, Snake Spear Douluo glanced around to make sure no one else was listening. Then, in a low voice, he said:

"Saintess, the truth is… Ye Hao is actually the Supreme Pontiff's—"

Hu Liena froze.

Her entire body stiffened as she stared at Snake Spear Douluo in utter disbelief. You must be joking, right?

Ye Hao is my teacher's biological son?!

Where did you even hear that?!

You can't just make things up like this!

Her entire mission was to uncover Ye Hao's true identity and background. Yet, the moment she arrived in Heaven Dou City, she was hit with a truth bomb that completely shattered her worldview.

"Are you telling me that the Supreme Pontiff never mentioned this to you? That's impossible—you're her only direct disciple." Snake Spear Douluo mused.

"No… Teacher never told me… Haha…" Hu Liena forced an awkward laugh, feeling as though her mind was on the verge of collapse.

Then, she suddenly thought about those three oddballs in Ye Hao's backyard.

"Elder She, about the Death Spider Emperor, the Soul-Devouring Spider Emperor, and that dog in Ye Hao's backyard… What's their story?"

"Oh, them?" Snake Spear Douluo explained, "Both the Death Spider Emperor and the Soul-Devouring Spider Emperor are hundred-thousand-year soul beasts. Honestly, I have to admire Young Master Ye—his charisma is incredible. He somehow got two hundred-thousand-year soul beasts to willingly serve him."

"A h-hundred-thousand-year soul beast…?" Hu Liena swallowed hard, her eyes filled with astonishment.

Hundred-thousand-year soul beasts were extraordinarily rare, each possessing immense strength. The Titan Giant Ape currently imprisoned in Spirit Hall was proof of that.

Now, Ye Hao had two of them under his command?

And coincidentally, both of them happened to match my teacher's twin martial souls?!

What will my teacher's reaction be when she finds out?!

"What about the dog? Don't tell me it's also a hundred-thousand-year soul beast?" Hu Liena asked hesitantly.

Snake Spear Douluo shook his head. "No, that dog isn't a hundred-thousand-year soul beast."

Hearing this, Hu Liena let out a sigh of relief. At least something in this madness is normal…

But before she could fully relax, Snake Spear Douluo continued:

"That dog has actually surpassed the level of a hundred-thousand-year soul beast. From what I've heard… it's a divine beast."

Hu Liena: [Error: System has crashed.]

She stood there, completely petrified.

Ye Hao seemed like an ordinary person, yet every detail about him was absolutely terrifying.

She could hardly process everything she had just learned.

Then, as if recalling something crucial, she suddenly asked:

"Elder She, how did you come to know that Ye Hao is… my teacher's son?"

This was something Hu Liena was deeply curious about.

Before she left Spirit Hall, her teacher had explicitly dismissed all rumors about Ye Hao's true identity.

So how did such an explosive piece of news surface out of nowhere?

Snake Spear Douluo gave her a knowing look. "Saintess, do you remember the Titan Giant Ape currently locked in Spirit Hall?"

Hu Liena nodded. "Of course, but what does that have to do with anything?"

"Everything." Snake Spear Douluo said firmly.

"Not long ago, we traveled with Young Master Ye to the Star Dou Forest. We split up along the way, and the Titan Giant Ape that's now imprisoned in Spirit Hall? That was personally captured by him."

Hu Liena was completely stunned.

The Titan Giant Ape's power was monstrous—it had taken four Spirit Hall elders just to barely suppress it.

And yet, Ye Hao had managed to capture it alone?

This completely shattered her understanding of strength.

Snake Spear Douluo continued, "As for Ye Hao's identity, I learned about it from the Grand Worshipper himself."

Hu Liena's pupils shrank.

"The… Grand Worshipper?!"

This situation just kept escalating.
