Chapter 237: 233. Progress
"Sure, but I need to bring some things over," Qian Renxue replied with a smile.
Staying at home and sharing a room with Bibi Dong seemed like a good idea.
There was no need, like in the past, to drag Qian Renjue and herself back to the mountaintop courtyard to rest.
"It doesn't matter whether you bring them or not; Mom will arrange everything for you," Bibi Dong said with joy on her face.
She hadn't had the chance to fully enjoy the days of her children being close by her side yet.
"Okay." Qian Renxue smiled warmly, without a trace of her usual sterness.
Hu Liena, carrying clothes, followed behind them, her expression slightly troubled.
She hadn't expected that Miss Xue would stay for so long this time.
She would need to be more careful from now on.
The shackles and whip she bought just a few days ago would have to be well hidden, or else… If Miss Xue found them, she might be the one using those tools on her.
She wanted to seduce her senior brother, not to get into trouble.
While Hu Liena was lost in her thoughts, Bibi Dong, who was chatting happily, suddenly turned around and instructed, "Nana, you don't need to do anything here. Go to the kitchen and help with preparing the food."
Hu Liena immediately snapped back to reality.
She looked up and met Qian Renxue's gaze, hastily nodding in response. "Yes, teacher. I'll get right to it."
Under Qian Renxue's watchful eyes, Hu Liena hurriedly carried the clothes inside, her face showing a hint of playfulness.
"Xiao Xue, let's sit over there and talk," Bibi Dong said gently, taking Qian Renxue's hand and leading her gracefully.
The mother and daughter walked side by side, looking more like sisters.
Though they had different styles, both were stunning beauties: Bibi Dong, soft and elegant; Qian Renxue, pure and noble.
Any beautiful words used to describe them would be fitting.
Just by sitting in the pavilion by the lotus pond, they overshadowed the surrounding beauty.
Even the vibrant water lilies seemed to pale in comparison.
Bibi Dong poured some warm tea, her gaze tender. "Xiao Xue, now that you've been back for a while, should I send someone to keep an eye on things in Heaven Dou City?"
"No need to trouble you, Mom. I've already made arrangements," Qian Renxue shook her head, smiling. "Once the plan is set into motion, I can respond to you at any time."
"Good." Bibi Dong smiled softly, offering Qian Renxue a cup of tea. "Xiao Xue, you've worked hard all these years."
"It wasn't hard at all; this was my choice," Qian Renxue responded, somewhat taken aback by Bibi Dong's words.
She quickly reached out to accept the tea, her eyes welling up with emotion.
She couldn't remember the last time she had heard such words from Bibi Dong during her 20 years as an undercover agent in Heaven Dou Empire.
As she took the cup, her voice trembled with both laughter and tears. "Mom, I can handle this myself."
"Xiao Xue?" Bibi Dong looked puzzled, gently holding Qian Renxue's hand, unsure why she was acting this way.
"Mom, I'm fine. Just got something in my eye." Qian Renxue quickly shook her head, rubbing her eyes and tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
She cleared her throat and changed the subject. "Have you decided when to start the plan, Mom?"
"I'm not sure yet. Right now, I'm focusing on restructuring the four lower sects and the major family," Bibi Dong explained, shaking her head. "With our current strength, if we open too many fronts, we'll spread ourselves too thin, and the war will drag on. I'm leaning towards taking down one target at a time."
Qian Renxue nodded in agreement.
Multiple simultaneous wars could indeed be a disadvantage, potentially prolonging the conflict.
She couldn't forget the interference of the Spirit Masters from The Sea God Island. After their previous failure, taking a cautious approach seemed wise.
Bibi Dong massaged her temples. "Taking down individual targets is a good strategy, but we can't rely on it too many times. After a few attacks, they'll catch on. Also, we need a justified reason to strike at any power; otherwise, we risk inciting widespread resentment."
Qian Renxue fully understood Bibi Dong's concerns. "Have you decided which faction to target first?"
"Of course, we'll start with the strongest ones," Bibi Dong's eyes flashed with determination.
Ideally, she wanted to wait until she completed her divine trial before making her move.
That might allow them to achieve their goals without bloodshed.
But her divine trial was exceedingly difficult, and with no one to guide her, she had to fumble her way through it.
The Spirit Hall might not be able to wait that long.
Or perhaps it was she herself who couldn't afford to wait.
Qian Renjue was growing fast and would make an excellent Pope, but she didn't want to leave these matters for him to handle.
Before stepping down, she wanted to leave Qian Renjue with the most powerful Spirit Hall in history.
Upon hearing this, Qian Renxue smiled. Bibi Dong was as confident and strong as ever.
Sipping her tea, she said gently, "Maybe you can wait a few years for my news, Mom."
"Oh?" Bibi Dong raised her eyebrows with a smile, noticing the determination and confidence in Qian Renxue's eyes. "Alright, Mom will wait for you."
"Thank you, Mom." Qian Renxue smiled softly.
Conversations like this were incredibly comforting.
A gentle breeze carried the fragrance of flowers through the air.
Meanwhile, from the kitchen came a small commotion.
"Ah!"
Hu Liena had just opened a clam when it splashed water all over her face.
"Ew, it smells so fishy!" Hu Liena exclaimed, grimacing as she wiped her face and looked through the window at the pavilion, where the mother and daughter were sharing a sweet moment.
It seemed her days were about to become much more difficult.
"But it's okay," Hu Liena murmured to herself, wiping the water off with her sleeve. "As long as Senior Brother and Teacher are happy, so is Nana. Loyal to Senior Brother, loyal to Teacher."
A smile spread across her face as she grabbed her knife and continued opening the bucket of clams one by one.
By the time she finished, Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue had joined her in the kitchen, helping to sort, clean, and chop the ingredients.
"Miss Xue, let Nana handle it."
"No need, I can do this much," Qian Renxue replied.
"But the crab just climbed onto your head!"
"I was just playing with it!"
"Haha!"
"…"
Over an hour later, Qian Renjue returned, holding his crown and carrying his staff, to find the table full of dishes.
"Senior brother, come over!"
Bibi Dong smiled, beckoning Qian Renjue to sit beside her.
"Mom, Sister, Nana," Qian Renjie quickly crossed the small bridge.
"Sit down; Sister already cooled the soup for you," Qian Renxue said gently.
"…"
——
As the night deepened, Hu Liena sat alone on her bed, silently meditating.
In the master bedroom, Qian Renjue was already asleep, his breathing heavy. His face frowned from time to time.
Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue, still awake, lay on either side of him, facing each other and whispering softly.
Their expressions were relaxed, with smiles in their eyes.
Bibi Dong giggled softly. "Even though I don't really want to see it, I'm curious what it would be like if Jue kissed a girl voluntarily."
"It wouldn't be a pretty sight," Qian Renxue, who had witnessed it firsthand, shook her head in disapproval.
