Chapter 60: Meng Yiran: I Want to Report Ye Feng for His Random Matchmaking
"Shit..."
Oscar hesitated, glancing at Zhao Wuji.
Zhao Wuji, knowing Ye Feng's background, felt that what Ye Feng said made sense. Especially considering Ye Feng's master was Chen Xin, the famous Grandmaster. The words of a disciple from such a master were incredibly valuable. So, Zhao Wuji chose to stay silent, refraining from expressing his opinion.
Tang San, however, was not happy with Ye Feng's advice. His teacher had developed the theory of the ten core competitions of martial spirits, and now Ye Feng was preventing Oscar from obtaining the spirit ring of the Phoenix-tailed Cockscomb Snake. This felt like a direct challenge to his teacher's wisdom. "The age of this spirit beast is perfect for Oscar," Tang San argued. "Ye Feng, you should know that spirit rings increase a soul master's attributes. Older spirit rings are highly significant to us."
Oscar wavered, glancing between Ye Feng and Tang San, unsure of who to follow. He was eager to hear Ye Feng's reasoning.
Ye Feng spoke calmly, "Losing out on this spirit ring doesn't mean you won't find another that's just as good, Oscar. In the end, it's your decision. What you choose in life is your own path. Just remember this—don't be afraid and don't regret."
Everyone's attention shifted to Oscar.
Oscar thought it over carefully.
Ye Feng's words were crystal clear. Although the spirit ring of the Phoenix-tailed Cockscomb Snake was an excellent choice, it would only give him a speed-based soul skill. This skill, focused on escape, was time-limited, and that was something he was reluctant to accept.
Tang San made a valid point too. The Phoenix-tailed Cockscomb Snake's spirit ring was just the right age—around 1,600 years, which was close to the limit for a soul master's third spirit ring. For any soul master, the chance to obtain such a ring would be rare.
Oscar looked at Ye Feng and asked, "Boss Ye, if I don't take this spirit ring, won't I be wasting an opportunity?"
Ye Feng smiled and leaned in, whispering something in Oscar's ear.
Oscar's eyes went wide in surprise, then he nodded vigorously, clearly understanding. After Ye Feng finished speaking, Oscar turned to Meng Yiran with a smile. "This spirit ring is yours."
"Wait, what?" Meng Yiran was shocked. She couldn't believe her ears. "You're really giving this to me?"
Oscar nodded again.
"Why?" Meng Yiran asked, clearly confused. "Why did you fight for it with me if you don't want it?"
Oscar gave a light-hearted laugh. "It was my duty to seize it, as we intercepted and took it down together. Now, giving it to you is just my way of showing my respect."
Meng Yiran was speechless, but Oscar's words did make sense.
The snake lady, Chao Tianxiang, stepped forward, her eyes filled with surprise. She hadn't expected such a turn of events. She looked Oscar up and down, clearly intrigued. "Young man, what's your name?"
"Grandma, my name's Oscar," he replied warmly.
"Grandmother?" Chao Tianxiang was taken aback. She completely ignored Oscar's affectionate address and turned to Meng Yiran. "How old is he? Can he have a girlfriend?"
Oscar blushed, scratching his head nervously. "I'm fifteen, and no, I don't have a girlfriend."
"Oh, so you're the same age as me," Chao Tianxiang smiled meaningfully at Meng Yiran.
The snake lady seemed to have an idea, thinking that if Oscar and Meng Yiran could work together, it would be great for Meng Yiran's future.
"Grandma…" Meng Yiran's face flushed bright red. She clearly picked up on the suggestion in her grandmother's words. "Let's get the spirit ring first."
Chao Tianxiang nodded with a satisfied smile.
Ye Feng spoke up, "Let's go find a better spirit ring for Oscar."
Oscar said his farewells to Chao Tianxiang and Meng Yiran, then left with the group.
At a distance, Ma Hongjun, always keen for a little mischief, looked back at Meng Yiran and Chao Tianxiang. "Boss Ye, are you thinking of hooking Brother Oscar up with a girlfriend?"
Ma Hongjun's voice was loud, and Ye Feng knew exactly what he meant. He glanced back at Meng Yiran and Chao Tianxiang and responded, "Oscar's a food-type spirit master, and he's got full innate spirit power. I think he's good enough to be a match for the daughters of any big family."
"Full innate spirit power?" Chao Tianxiang was stunned, her eyes widening with interest as she looked at Oscar.
Oscar could feel the intensity of Chao Tianxiang's gaze, and he knew that she was impressed. He turned to Ye Feng, grateful. "Boss Ye, thank you."
Ye Feng gave a casual smile. "No need to thank me. I didn't do anything."
With that, Ye Feng, Oscar, Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, Tang San, and Zhao Wuji continued their journey through the outskirts of the forest.
As they came upon a small clearing, the loud cry of an eagle suddenly echoed through the sky.
"Chirp!"
The sound was followed by the sight of a magnificent green-winged eagle soaring high. Its feathers gleamed in the sunlight, and it had a distinctive feather crest on its head.
"The Green-Winged Eagle is one of the best flying monsters," Ye Feng explained, using his Hell's Eye to analyze the creature. "It's a legendary bird with blood from the ferocious Green-Scaled Eagle. A thousand-year-old Green-Winged Eagle can fly as fast as a ten-thousand-year-old bird. That one has a feather crest on its head, so it's definitely over a thousand years old."
Tang San's expression was thoughtful as he assessed the situation. "This spirit beast could be a good choice for Oscar, but... who's going to take it down?"
Among the group, only Ma Hongjun had the ability to fly, but his skills were limited.
Tang San glanced at Ma Hongjun. "You can't do it?"
Ma Hongjun quickly shook his head. "No way. I can only fly for a short time, and I can't catch it at that speed."
"I'll do it," Ye Feng said.
He summoned his martial spirit, the Xuanyuan Sword, with a simple gesture.
"Wait… Is that the Xuanyuan Sword?" Tang San asked, surprised. He had almost forgotten that Ye Feng possessed another martial spirit, aside from the Nine Hearts Mysterious Tang. Ye Feng, like him, had awakened twin martial spirits.
But what Tang San didn't know was that Ye Feng had actually awakened three martial spirits, not just two.
With a swift motion, Ye Feng stepped onto the Xuanyuan Sword and soared into the sky. His speed was so incredible that he reached 37 meters per second in no time.
