Chapter 39: Swift Victory
"What?" Gu Yuena exclaimed quietly, a strange look on her face that was a mix of confusion and mild disgust. She didn't like the look of adoration and appreciation in his eyes, it was creepy as hell.
"Because of you two, I've gotten a lot stronger! Thank you so much!" Xie Xie said happily l, his previously calm countenance erased as though it never existed, his expression befitting that of a child his age.
However, there was one point different in his eyes compared to most. His eyes held nigh infinite respect when he looked toward the two in front of him, so much so that his previous overwhelming fear was smothered by it.
Stepping away from his disturbing eyes Gu Yuena moved behind her other half, pushing the respect filled gaze onto him. It was better for him, he was used to it with his cult members' respect which was higher than even Xie Xie's own.
"So it was helpful?" Wulin questioned him lightly, not minding his apparent other half using him as a shield. He was quite a good shield and did not mind playing that role at times. Besides, he was used to this level of adoration.
"Of course! My martial soul even evolved!" Xie Xie proclaimed respect, his gaze brightening up a notch making the already disgusted Gu Yuena want to blind herself to spare herself the suffering that was having this child's respect.
"That's enough. We don't have time for idle pleasantries." Wu Zhangkong finally intervened to get them back on focus and to save Xie Xie from his untimely death at the hand of his savior. It would be a pitiful death and he doesn't want to clean the mess.
Sitting straight at the power in the Cold God's voice the students of class one were thoroughly impressed and fearful of their teacher. With such simple words, the teacher forced them to sit at attention instinctively.
On the other hand, the Demon of Destruction and Elemental Saint were hardly phased as they walked past them and sat in an empty pair of chairs a few feet away, their hands intertwined without any regard for the other's presence.
Rumors had been spreading wildly over the last few days that the two monsters of the school had begun holding hands, and perhaps more, but it seems that it was actually true. When this information was revealed many people's hearts would break.
Gu Yuena was the goddess of the school and had the fans to match. She had dozens of fans that would do anything for even the chance to see her smile let alone hold her hand. Luckily their fear of the Demon of Destruction would keep them away.
Tang Wulin was a terrifying being however his handsome appearance and domineering appearance made him the number two most desired man, only behind the cold god. The girls were afraid of him but they liked the idea of 'fixing him'. Sadly they had missed their chance.
With the pair presumably getting together, they had destroyed the souls and hearts of nearly half the school population. Not only that, they had definitely created the strongest couple in the school's history.
"There is still one more match to go in the tournament but the school decided it would be best to tell you early." Wu Zhangkong began seriously. He framed it beautifully however the truth wasn't nearly as pretty.
The school wanted to tell them early so that when they developed a fear of two of their classmates they wouldn't be able to leave easily with a legally binding contract. Even if they did, which they surely will, they won't be able to leave once they sign the paper.
"The school is planning the creation of a class dubbed Class 0. This class will have all the resources of the school poured into it. Of course, you can not leave whenever you please afterward. Do you accept?" Wu Zhangkong questioned them, his golden eyes glaring at them.
Watching the reactions of the students there were two main groups that separated the six into two 'factions'. The first was created by his two personal students and Xie Xie who seemed oddly devoted to them after his martial soul was awakened.
The second was made up of all the other members of the first class. They all seemed to be leaning toward not accepting the chance for various reasons. Two of them seemed like they were afraid of his two students, the other however…
"Are you kidding me? I would never stick to this school if two weaklings like them can rule over it." A child with long dark blue hair that seemed almost violet with so many hair products poured into it that hair seemed more fake than real.
The child was Wei Xiaofeng, a child prodigy with as much wisdom as modesty. He had been pampered by his small clan and had grown up to be an arrogant child though it seems it was worse than Wu Zhangkong had thought.
It was already bad enough when Wei Xiaofeng had the posture of a delinquent and the smile of a scum but after a recently learned lesson, Wu Zhangkong decided to give him a chance to prove himself. A chance he wasted.
"Weaklings?" Gu Yuena questioned softly, a gentle smile on her face that hid her true anger boiling inside. She was a dragon, she was pride personified, and this small child had dared to belittle her and her other half?
"That's right. I don't know how you guys managed to blow up those rumors so much but I know a weak person when I see one." Wei Xiaofeng bragged about his broken senses without a care in the world. He skipped the initiation and it had become his undoing.
"You're a fool." Wulin said simply, not even bothering to look at him. If he couldn't clearly recognize the gap between them then he wasn't even worth that much. Most likely, Wei Xiaofeng had sensed their lack of energy and assumed they were weak.
However, that wasn't the truth. It wasn't that they were too weak for him to sense, it was that he was too weak to sense them. Their cultivation was higher in each and every aspect by a multitude. He had deluded himself into perceiving their strength as weakness.
"What was that?" Wei Xiaofeng growled, grinding his teeth in anger. Slowly Wulin rose up from his seat, Wu Zhangkong sitting peacefully with closed eyes as though he was part of nature itself. He had chosen his stance.
Standing up to prepare for battle Wei Xiaofeng paused in place as a finger gently tapped his forehead, his mind feeling as though it shattered from such a small touch. His everything… ended.
"You die." Tang Wulin declared coldly as he brought back his finger.
