Douluo Dalu 3 | Divine Destruction

Chapter 25: Everything Will Fall

"However," Tang Wulin began, his voice breaking the fifteen former test subjects from their joy. "If you hold any desire for revenge, watch." He explained further, a sudden force pushing them through the portal before they could reply.

Closing his eyes the God of Devils focused his senses on the barrier outside now that the subjects were gone. It was a powerful barrier that may even be able to hold him back at |Level 3| for a few seconds or so. Luckily, it was an ability of his trusted slayer.

'It will hold.' Tang Wulin declared to himself mentally. Without a moment's hesitation, he clasped his hands together, a small crimson ball of dense annihilation beginning to form in his palm, the crimson light escaping his interlocked fingers destroying all they touched.

Unlike his usual annihilation, this was much more primal. This time, he wasn't controlling it, he would allow it to devour and destroy freely until the entirety of the Spirit Pagoda was erased from the world itself.

Outside of the barrier, the fifteen escapees stumbled out of the portal, the small film of annihilation surrounding their bodies vanishing now that its task was complete. As soon as they opened their eyes they froze.

"The- the- the sky!" The youngest of them all shouted, tears of absolute joy leaving his eyes as he desperately clenched his sister to his chest. When he had been captured all those years ago he never thought he'd see the sun again. He thought his life was over. But it wasn't. The devil heard his plea and saved him.

"Oh? There are more of you than I expected!" A kind and gentle voice sounded from beside them. Turning their heads as fast as possible they saw two people standing by the closing portal, a large brown barrier behind the two.

"They are other victims who possess the will to live it seems." The second man said, his voice much more haughty and unapproachable compared to the other man. While the first man seemed like a friendly neighbor this man seemed more like an elegant and arrogant noble.

"Are you two the associates of Lord Luslec?" Subject 13 questioned the two of them seriously, his eyes narrowed as he once more prepared to escape at any given moment though he doubted it was possible.

"Indeed. I am Pephomemore Seto, the Second Slayer, and my God's most faithful servant. It is a pleasure to meet you." Seto introduced himself, gently fixing the location of his glasses causing a shine of light to strike the Slayer Candidate's eyes. It was worth trying to learn a little about the law of light.

"And I am Imort, the Third Slayer, my God's true most faithful servant. As your senior, you can come to me for help whenever you require." Imort offered with a gentle smile, a vein appearing on Seto's brow at his words.

"Why?" Subject 13 questioned with narrowed eyes. Why would a Slayer, a member of the upper echelons in FUG, declare himself a senior. There was only one theory that made any degree of sense but even that was impossible.

"Despite the sheer inaccuracy of his words, his words hold merit. At least some of them. You were indeed chosen to be a Slayer, the fourth to be exact." Seto explained simply, a frown of annoyance on his face.

"That's right. Currently, you are a Slayer Candidate rather than an actual Slayer but it shouldn't take long for you to reach our standards." Imort spoke with an encouraging smile, gently patting the shocked new addition on the shoulder.

"I trust you'll take less than two years to reach our standards, perhaps even less so. You will be an invaluable asset so please, try your best to prove yourself worth the effort." Seto requested however it was closer to a demand than a mere request.

"Don't worry, we'll help in any way we can, all of you. You are all the future of FUG and we'll spare no expense to-" Imort began, a horrifying feeling forcing him to turn around. "Let's put that on hold for the moment. For now, watch as our god gives judgment onto the sinners."

A crimson light was peering through the earth, its rays destroying everything it came into contact with instantly. Quickly the light that once appeared in small rays became much brighter, similar in scale to a small crimson sun.

"T-The Spirit Pagoda! It's… falling!" One of the fifteen saved subjects shouted in shock, his eyes wide and his mouth wide open. The Spirit Pagoda, an organization that hadn't failed once in ten thousand years, a branch of that organization was toppling to the floor!

"This is a bit more dangerous than I thought!" Imort exclaimed with a laugh, a crazed look in his eyes as he took in his God's splendor in its full glory. His god always held himself back in caution of the universe itself so seeing such a sight was awe inspiring.

"As usual, you need my assistance." Seto spoke smugly, pressing his hand onto Imort's back. Using his martial soul Imort made Seto's soul power the same as his own and strengthened the barrier again. At this point, it may even be able to contain the Atlas Douluo.

However, none of the former test subjects could hear their squabbling, their attention fully focused on the falling Spirit Pagoda that once stood proudly in the sky like an unreachable goal, higher than any building around it.

The fifteen of them all believed that it was where they would die, that they would never escape no matter how hard they tried or how carefully they planned. Yet that same impenetrable fortress was falling to the ground like a mere tree.

Crimson light radiated from the earth destroying everything it touched, the Spirit Pagoda falling to its knees and being destroyed before it could even touch the remnants of earth. The now light brown barrier strained against the overwhelming power of annihilation, cracking at the smallest touch.

The only reason it wasn't destroyed was the fact that Tang Wulin was controlling it enough to keep the barrier mostly away from damage. If he didn't… perhaps the entire world would be eaten away by the growing annihilation.

'It's… It's gone!' Subject 13 thought to himself, emotions he didn't know he was repressing leaving him in the form of tears and choked back sobs. The Spirit Pagoda branch, the place he had been tortured for years, the place he thought would take his life, the place that had taken the life of his friends…

It was falling!
