Douluo Dalu 3 | Divine Destruction

Chapter 22: Folly of the Elderly

Floating high in the air Pephomemore Seto waited patiently for his opponent to arrive while ignoring the blaring alarms beneath him. He currently floated above the top of the Spirit Pagoda, leisurely dancing through the air to imaginary music.

Suddenly the cloud beneath him were split apart, a rising figure wearing armor pausing at the same altitude as him but remained roughly thirty meters away as a safety precaution. The figure was an elderly man with long white hair, his eyes narrowed seriously.

"Who are you?" The elderly man questioned Seto, his voice filled with soul power to transmit it across the distance and spiritual power to force his opponent to feel an innate sense of fear from his words.

Sadly for him, such a thing wouldn't work on Seto who was of the same rank as him, especially since his spiritual power was well above his opponent's, it was a requirement for arrays so he was quite good at it.

"I am the Second Slayer of FUG Pephomemore Seto, it is a great displeasure to be at your service." Seto spoke haughtily with an exaggerated bow toward his opponent. It was extremely clear that he did not take the Silent Void douluo seriously.

"Pephom-" The Silent Void douluo began however he paused, an incredibly fast blade appearing underneath him forcing him to fly to the right in a hurry, a deep gash appearing in his right arm despite the defenses of his three word battle armor.

"Ah, I'm afraid I did not give you permission to say my name. Please refer to me with my title like the insect you are." Seto demanded, a sincere smile on his handsome face that made his opponent grit his teeth so loudly even he could hear them.

"You damn brat!" The Silent Void Douluo shouted angrily, his hands clasping together as feathers grew along his body and wind coalesced beneath his closed palms. Releasing the tight grip of his palms a beam of pure wind cut through the air without a single sound.

Instantly a wall made of chains appeared in front of him, blocking the beam without a single scratch before they few toward their opponent as though they had sentience. Flying backward he kept his eye on the air beneath him as it seemed his opponent could create things there.

As he flew back he swung his arms forward, two blades of wind with incomparable sharpness moved through the air toward Seto who had still not taken a single step since the battle had begun.

"Is that all? You bore me." Seto taunted, a playful yawn leaving his lips as chains once more appeared from the ground thirty meters in front of him, blocking the two wind blades with ease once more.

"You brat! Don't think I don't know what you're up to!" The Silent Void Douluo shouted proudly, finally having found a path toward victory from his seemingly impossible to defeat opponent and it was shown to him by his opponent himself.

Shooting out a few more wind blades his mind was firmly set, a smirk rising to his face as he confirmed over and over that his conclusion was indeed correct. To think somebody so strong would be so foolish! Youth truly was wasted on the young!

"I know your weakness you brat!" The Silent Void Douluo announced proudly as he stood thirty five meters away from his opponent. He had tested it dozens of times and it had been proved correct each time!

"Oh? And what may that be?" Seto questioned haughtily, hardly concealed disdain present in his violet eyes as he looked at him. Just thinking of the regret soon to be in those eyes made all the abuse the Silent Void douluo received worth it!

"You can't extend your chains more than 30 meters! As long as I attack you outside of that range you can't touch me! I win brat!" The Silent Void Douluo explained proudly, his body language resembling that of a child waiting to be praised.

However before anything else could occur something strange happened, a tall square of golden brown energy surrounding the entirety of the Spirit Pagoda, the energy reaching even above the two of them before a roof was formed over their head.

Instantly something felt wrong to the Silent Void douluo. He could handle the brat in front of him, but his opponent had called himself the Second Slayer. There were multiple of them. How many, he couldn't be sure, but there should be at least one more.

"Your answer is…" Seto began, a playful smirk still present on his face. However, as the Silent Void douluo waited for his answer multiple chains sunk themselves into his flesh and wrapped around his body, his battle armor instantly destroyed. "Wrong." Seto finished, a sadistic smirk on his face.

Instantly the chains in his body began to drain his energies, his soul power and spiritual power being stolen from him through the chains. Thrashing around in the chains nothing happened besides injuring himself more and soon he was weakened to the point where he was nothing more than a mortal.

"The elderly are always so arrogant. I thought wisdom came with age not foolishness." Seto teased, his violet eyes full of disdain boring holes into the old man who was glaring at him with the wrath of a man who knew he had lost but wouldn't accept it.

"You fucking bra-!" The old man shouted however his voice ended as a sharp pain assaulted him, blood immediately forcing itself out of his throat. Looking down at his chest he saw the end of dozens of chains mercilessly stabbed through his body, one now piercing his heart.

Pephomemore Seto's martial soul was the Chain of Heaven, chains that can be summoned from any surface, solid or not, and drain the soul power of anyone who touches them. They were odd though, his martial soul's main feature was that it drained more energy from those that had more.

If it took him ten minutes to drain the energy of a rank ten it would only take him a minute to do so for a title douluo, even less for a hyper douluo or limit douluo. His chains weren't benevolent, they were to punish the sinners. And that was what he would do.

"Have fun in hell old man." Seto said, a sickeningly sweet smile on his face.
