Douluo Dalu 3 | Divine Destruction

Chapter 10: Punishment or Blessing?

The wind was powerful enough to cut deeply into the strengthened walls of the school yet the students were barely affected, the fierce winds merely blowing through their hair and ruffling their clothing.

"Tang Wulin wins." Wu Zhangkong replied calmly, his arm outstretched in front of the students and a thin ice blue shield of soul power surrounding his class. However, beneath the surface, he was shaken up more than he had been in quite a few years.

The force behind Tang Wulin's attack was easily that of a rank 50 Spirit King however that was in terms of pure bodily strength, his energy levels were only that of a high end Spirit Grandmaster.

Tang Wulin was an Anomaly amongst common men and it was impossible to hide that fact. However, Wu Zhangkong's biggest concern was Tang Wulin's low energy reserves that could be used to limit his destruction.

High strength fighters like Wu Zhangkong used their soul power to control the force of their attacks and limit forces like wind resistance affecting them however Tang Wulin couldn't do that, at least not enough.

It was clear that he had tried to limit his power however his low soul power couldn't mitigate the power behind his god like body, it simply wasn't possible. It was like trying to stop a tempest with a dirt wall.

At the moment, Tang Wulin was a Walking Natural Disaster, a threat that can't be controlled by mortal hands. At least, that would be the definition a few dozen thousand years ago. Now, the power of a natural disaster can be tamed by a mortal.

And Wu Zhangkong would could and would do that if required. However, as long as it wasn't he would instead teach Tang Wulin to control it himself. His weak soul power was a concern however it wasn't impossible. Difficult yes but far from impossible.

"Tang Wulin, you are exempt from further fighting." Wu Zhangkong declared, his words failing to ignite the flame of jealousy they usually would in his students. Rather, they appreciated his decision.

Nodding his head Wulin brought his fist back to his side, walking off the side of the destroyed platform toward his classmates. Behind him, the child he was fighting stood ramrod straight, his body caked in sweat, his trousers soiled, and his eyes blank.

He had passed out as soon as the fight began. He didn't even see the moment the fist approached his face as he was already unconscious, his fear causing his body to instinctively react in less than pleasant ways though nobody could fault him.

In a way, he had gotten lucky. If he had been awake when the battle began, he would have been traumatized for life. The battle was short however that did not mean the fact that death approached him so closely would not scare him forevermore.

The battle consisted of two things, Tang Wulin charging forward and punching. Those two things happened near instantly and resulted in the tempest that had ravaged the students and campus, something that would surely receive the attention of all members of the school.

"Class is dismissed. Tang Wulin, follow me." Wu Zhangkong commanded, the students paralyzed in fear as Tang Wulin passed by them to follow his teacher's retreating figure. Glancing at the students he noted that their fear had become what he was used to.

Following Wu Zhangkong through the school's hallways the two only stopped in a training room specifically created for Wu Zhangkong. It boasted the strongest defenses in the entire school and had a large concentration of natural energies though that was only when compared to the rest of the school.

"As you are now, you are nothing more than a nuisance. Until you can control the force of your attacks you will be training with me every day after class." Wu Zhangkong explained, not off put by Tang Wulin's unresponsive face. He had seen quite a few people with such a face, some even worse.

Nodding his head Tang Wulin prepared himself, however, no form of preparation would prepare him for what came next. From his teacher's spiritual storage tool came a small candle. Tilting his head slightly, Wulin simply watched as his teacher placed it on the ground and lit it.

"You will punch toward this candle, stopping just before, until you can control your strength enough to not extinguish the flame." Wu Zhangkong explained callously, internally pleased at his student's reaction.

It was good to see that he wasn't truly a robot, he could feel things. That was a start. He could work with a start. It would be different if he truly didn't feel emotions but it appeared that Tang Wulin's emotions were simply unfamiliar to him and perhaps damped.

"Understood." Tang Wulin agreed simply, not raising a complaint at the unorthodox and repetitive training that can only be considered boring. Rearing back his fist Tang Wulin punched forward lightly, a torrent of wind once more emerging from his hand.

As a result of the force, the flame was not only extinguished but the entirety of the candle was destroyed, its pieces strewn across the training room. While the candle was destroyed it barely dampened the wind, its full force hitting the walls yet they remained strong.

"I have a total of 100 candles with me. I will get more once you run out. Until then, work hard." Wu Zhangkong said, placing a separate storage tool filled with candles before leaving the room, trusting his student to continue to work hard even without him.

For anyone else, he would be skeptical that they would work even without him watching due to their age but he was confident Tang Wulin would do anything but slack off. He was confident because he knew that Tang Wulin spent his time the exact same way every day.

He would go to school, train his body, and then he would meditate until school the next day. For somebody so hard working, even if only because he had no emotions to drive any other plans, there is no way he would slack off.

'This is hard.' Tang Wulin thought inside the room, a pile of destroyed candles in the corner.
