Douluo Dalu 2: I got Kidnapped into Holy Spirit Cult

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Juzi

"I'm telling you, Director Lin brought me here to find you on the orders of Hall Master Jing Hongchen."

Jiang Jue truthfully repeated what had just been said.

"How is that possible? The Hall Master wouldn't do something like this. He knows I have more important work to do..."

"I need to ask him myself."

Xuan Ziwen muttered to himself in a low voice before immediately opening the laboratory door and striding out.

Jiang Jue was unfazed—he knew that in a little while, Xuan Ziwen would return obediently.

Xuan Ziwen had been obsessed with soul tool technology his entire life. Many of the later innovations were created by him. His lifelong dream was to advance the times using soul tools, and he was also a responsible teacher.

Jiang Jue remembered that in the original story, when Huo Yuhao, as an exchange student, injured a noble from the Sun Moon Empire's royal lineage, Xuan Ziwen's first thought wasn't to hand him over. Instead, he suppressed the matter and sent Huo Yuhao on an experimental mission outside to avoid trouble.

He never treated Huo Yuhao differently just because he came from Shrek Academy. During his teaching, he was diligent and responsible—a true model teacher.

Fifteen minutes later.

A chime sounded at the lab's entrance, and Xuan Ziwen walked in with a smile.

As soon as he entered, he said, "Jiang, from now on, you'll be studying under me. Starting from zero isn't a problem. Everyone begins somewhere."

His voice was filled with care, and his gaze toward Jiang Jue carried a hint of joy.

Initially, Xuan Ziwen had been unwilling to teach Jiang Jue because he was a complete novice, which would take up too much of his precious research time. However, he couldn't refuse Jing Hongchen's offer.

First, he was promised an increased monthly supply of rare metals. More importantly, in a year, he would be allowed to participate in the research and development of Experimental Project No. 1.

Xuan Ziwen knew the value of that project all too well. It wasn't just the culmination of thousands of years of the Sun Moon Empire's soul tool technology—it was the key to ushering in a new era.

He had only recently broken through to become an eighth-ranked soul engineer, and the more he learned, the more he hungered for knowledge of those advanced soul tool technologies.

It was clear that this opportunity largely came through Jiang Jue.

So, he decided to teach Jiang Jue properly.

"Thank you, Teacher Xuan. I will study diligently."

Seeing Xuan Ziwen's drastic change in attitude, Jiang Jue knew that Jing Hongchen must have made a move.

"Here, I'll give you two books. Start by getting a basic understanding of soul tool technology."

As he spoke, Xuan Ziwen retrieved two books from his spatial ring. One was titled Soul Engineer's Handbook, and the other Comprehensive Soul Tool Technology. Both books were about seven centimeters thick.

"Tomorrow, I'll teach you how to create core formations for soul tools. I have other matters to attend to now."

Jiang Jue took the books, thanked him, and sat down in a nearby chair to read.

He found that Soul Engineer's Handbook mainly detailed precautions soul engineers needed to take when creating soul tools, as well as various emergency measures.

Meanwhile, Comprehensive Soul Tool Technology covered the crafting methods and core formations of soul tools up to rank three.

From the side, Xuan Ziwen observed Jiang Jue reading intently and became more motivated.

He needed to work hard for the "big promise" that Jing Hongchen had made him.

So, he sat back down and resumed studying a baby-bottle-shaped soul tool, occasionally giving it a squeeze.

For a while, the lab was completely silent, apart from the faint sound of Jiang Jue flipping through pages.

About half an hour later.

The lab door swung open again.

A burst of cheerful, bell-like laughter echoed in.

Jiang Jue was pulled out of his concentration. Looking toward the entrance, he saw two girls walking in arm-in-arm, followed by a young man with a somewhat handsome appearance.

The girl on the right had long, sleek black hair and a pair of large, bright eyes that looked drowsy. Her exposed skin was soft and pinkish, and her snug-fitting white academy uniform accentuated her graceful figure. She exuded an air of laziness and natural innocence.

The girl on the left was petite, standing only about 1.6 meters tall, with fair skin and adorable little tiger teeth that peeked out when she smiled.

"Hey, Juzi! Look, there's a handsome guy here!"

The petite girl excitedly squeezed the arm of the long-haired girl beside her.

"Ke Ke, can you stop being such a fangirl? He's so young."

Juzi gently tapped her best friend's forehead, sounding helpless.

Jiang Jue had started maturing in appearance, but there were still traces of youthful innocence on his face.

"But younger is better! I like them..."

Ke Ke murmured softly.

"Ke Ke, you're hopeless."

Juzi quickly covered Ke Ke's mouth, afraid that she'd blurt out something even more outrageous.

"Teacher Xuan, we're here."

The young man following behind them stepped forward and addressed Xuan Ziwen.

"Good, you're all here. Let me introduce you to someone—this is your new junior, Jiang Jue."

Xuan Ziwen turned to the group and gestured toward Jiang Jue.

"As for these three, they are..."

"Ah, teacher, let me do the introductions!"

Before Xuan Ziwen could finish, Ke Ke playfully interrupted, her delicate voice ringing out.

Xuan Ziwen simply shook his head, pointing at her without a hint of reproach—it was clear this was a common dynamic between them.

"Hello, junior! I'm Ke Ke. You can call me Ke-senpai! If you ever need help, just come find me~"

[T/N: I know Senpai is Japanese but its was in the raw version. So.....]

Ke Ke stepped up to Jiang Jue and extended her fair, delicate hand.

Jiang Jue instantly recognized her type—a master of the "tea art" (a charming, flirtatious girl).

He stood up, lightly shook hands with her, and replied, "Nice to meet you, Ke-senpai."

Hearing him address her that way, Ke Ke beamed happily, her large eyes narrowing slightly in delight.

"The two beside me are Juzi and Zimu."

She then introduced the other two.

"Nice to meet you, senior brother and senior sister."

Jiang Jue's gaze lingered on Juzi, his expression tinged with surprise.

This seemingly lazy, absentminded girl would one day become the Empress of the Sun Moon Empire, the Empire's War Goddess, and the key force that helped Xu Tianran conquer the three original empires.

"Hello, junior."

Zimu gave him a warm smile.

Juzi also responded with a simple greeting, though she immediately yawned afterward.

"Alright, now that you've all been introduced, I have an announcement to make."

Xuan Ziwen clapped his hands, signaling for everyone to focus on him.

"Since it's the start of a new term, I need to check whether you all studied your soul tool technology over the break."

"Ah, no way!"

"Teacher, can we postpone it? A test right at the start of the semester is way too cruel!"

Ke Ke let out a dramatic wail, looking at Xuan Ziwen with puppy-dog eyes.

"There's no room for negotiation."

Xuan Ziwen raised a finger and shook his head firmly.

He could joke around with his students, but when it came to principles, he never compromised. He refused to neglect his responsibilities as a teacher.
