Chapter 846: 713, Ancestral Patriarch, can we leave tomorrow instead?_1

Tea? Where is it?

Lin Yi turned his head to scan his surroundings and then spotted the teapot and cups on a table nearby.

Walking over unhurriedly like a true attendant, he slowly poured a cup of tea, finding the sound of the water flowing down in this tranquil environment comfortably soothing.

Lin Yi carried the teacup towards Lin Jingyue. By rights, Lin Jingyue, being the strongest of her time and the sole Primordial Immortal, should have been able to tell that the person who entered was no ordinary human.

Unfortunately, her Cultivation paled in comparison to the Ancestral Patriarch; thus, even if Lin Jingyue cultivated for tens of thousands more years, she might not be able to detect Lin Yi's unique aura.

Placing the teacup on the table, Lin Yi took a few steps back with the candied haw in hand, silently waiting at the side.

It was then that Lin Jingyue set down her memorial. She sighed, wearily rubbing her brow.

Having been an Emperor for nearly a thousand years, every move of Lin Jingyue was deeply imbued with an Emperor's presence, her action of picking up the teacup carrying an imposing solitude that seemed to tower over tens of thousands.

Watching quietly from behind, Lin Yi observed the Pirate Empress pinning up her hair, revealing a stretch of her fair, slender neck, with a few messy strands falling upon it, accentuating its paleness.

"The tea has gone cold, let's warm it up."

Lin Jingyue put the cup down on the table.

Lin Yi took the cup away and placed the teapot on the stove.

Turning back to look at Lin Jingyue, he couldn't help but sigh. After such a long time, she hadn't lifted her head to glance at the person who came in, probably because this scene had happened billions of times over the centuries.

The immortal Pirate Empress, eternally youthful and undying, dealt with government affairs day after day, while her attendants aged batch after batch, dying generation after generation.

Suddenly, Lin Yi felt that perhaps Lin Jingyue intentionally avoided looking at these attendants, to spare herself the sentimentality and sorrow that comes with 'the things remain as before while people have changed.'

For an Immortal who had lived thousands of years, it was usual, as most of their time was spent in secluded Cultivation, unaware of the passage of time.

But Lin Jingyue was different; she lived among the human world for thousands of years.

The swift passage of time was clearly visible before her eyes; having witnessed countless changes, not having gone mad but just feeling weary was already quite remarkable.

Suddenly, Lin Yi felt a pang of sympathy for this woman.

Of course, perhaps she had a reason to keep holding on.

Maybe, my next encounter with her was the reason she persisted...

Lin Yi's expression shifted slightly as he saw Lin Jingyue put down the memorial, her weary eyes staring blankly at a portrait on the table.

The portrait was of Lin Yi, but it was no longer clear from which of their meetings it had been sketched.

Lin Jingyue ran her hand over the portrait, blinking lightly, and one couldn't tell which year's memories were resurfacing in her mind.

She shifted her gaze away and picked up the memorial again, but then she finally spoke, "Xiao Anzi, why are you so quiet today? This isn't like you."

Lin Yi was startled.

Before the words had faded, the door in front was suddenly pushed open: "Your Majesty, Xiao Anzi is here to serve you tea!"

A eunuch pushed the door open and stood at the entrance, surprised to see Lin Yi with the candied haw and then at Lin Jingyue, thinking she was discussing affairs and quickly retreated back out.

"Your Majesty, this servant shall come back later."

Xiao Anzi retreated.

Lin Jingyue looked on dumbly at this scene and then immediately turned her head towards Lin Yi!

She stared at Lin Yi in silence, as if she did not recognize him, her gaze fixed on him for a long time until her eyes grew hot and tears sprang forth. Lin Jingyue threw her memorial onto the table and ran towards Lin Yi.

The black and gold Emperor's Robe looked stunning, fluttering like the skirt of an excited young girl.

"Ancestral Patriarch, you've finally come!"

Lin Jingyue leaped up, clinging to Lin Yi's neck like a koala, her legs wrapped around his waist, unbridled joy evident.

Lin Yi raised an eyebrow and revealed a smile before presenting the sugar-coated hawthorn to Lin Jingyue, "A gift for you, eating this in winter is indeed perfect."

"I thought you wouldn't come until next summer!"

Lin Jingyue immediately took the sugar-coated hawthorn, nibbled on one, then held it to Lin Yi's mouth with a laugh, "Ancestral Patriarch, have some too!"

Lin Yi didn't refuse and ate the second one.

Thus, the two of them shared the sugar-coated hawthorn in a strange "tree and koala" pose until the last piece ended up in Lin Jingyue's mouth.

She looked at Lin Yi happily, her hair sticking to her face due to the tears, with the corners of her lips also sticky with the red malt sugar. Lin Jingyue didn't know what to say, countless words already choked in the nights and days of the past two hundred years.

"Ancestral Patriarch, try this too."

Lin Jingyue kissed Lin Yi's lips, sending the last piece of sugar-coated hawthorn into his mouth.

This sweetness was something Lin Yi had never imagined before.

The black and gold Emperor's Robe fell to the ground as Lin Jingyue let her legs down, gently pushing Lin Yi to the floor.

She knelt beside him, her eyes teary, "I want to punish the Ancestral Patriarch for not coming to see me for so long, I want to be guilty of lese-majeste!"

Lin Yi caught her slender hand and suddenly pulled with force, flipping Lin Jingyue over onto the ground in a move akin to wrestling.

"Guilty of lese-majeste? Only if you're beneath me," Lin Yi said with a smile.

Lin Jingyue also smiled, lifting her slender arms to wrap around Lin Yi's neck.

Just then, "Thump, thump, thump," the door is pushed open.

"Your Majesty? I've come to pour water for you again."

Upon hearing this, Lin Jingyue waved her hand quickly, and the room immediately filled with a mystical aura. The door then slammed shut, and Xiao Anzi was sent flying out, landing headfirst in the thick snow outside the room.

Only then did Lin Yi embrace the woman's slender waist and kissed her forehead.

"Oh my, what happened here?"

Xiao Anzi struggled to pull himself from the snow, straightened his hat, and looked towards the Imperial Study Room, only to see it enveloped by a radiant aura of colorful lights shooting up into the sky.

"My god, there really are immortals in this world!"

"No, that's not right, I've never seen that man in the imperial palace before... Could he be an assassin?!"

Recalling how he had been flung into the snow, Xiao Anzi suddenly had an ominous feeling and immediately began running and shouting, "Assassin! Catch the assassin! There's an assassin holding His Majesty hostage!"

The once serene imperial palace instantly became as busy as a market.

A large number of the Guardian Army surrounded the Imperial Study Room, but those who got close were immediately thrown out by a special force.

An hour later.

Inside the room.

Utter chaos.

The petitions were grasped into a tangled mess, and various porcelain items were also dropped to the ground, smashed to pieces.

However, the two within the room were leisurely getting dressed, with Lin Yi standing behind Lin Jingyue helping her comb her hair, while Lin Jingyue blushed, looking as if she had something to say but hesitated.

"Ancestral Patriarch, when will you leave?"

Lin Yi's motion of brushing her hair suddenly stopped.

Feeling the change from behind, Lin Jingyue's smile gradually faded, yet she still managed to force a smile, her tone pleading, "Can you leave tomorrow instead?"
