Douluo Continent: The Real World

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Subjugation (4)

"You just need to wrap it with your soul power and swallow it. Leave the rest to me. But remember, this Heart Fire has the ability to burn soul power. After wrapping the Heart Fire, be sure to swallow it into your stomach within three seconds. Otherwise, even I won't be able to save you; the fire will burn you to death before I can control it."

Yu Tianyan spoke seriously.

The three of them nodded solemnly.

Jiangzhu was still visibly apprehensive. As an auxiliary spirit master, she had never participated in battle, let alone dealt with something that could kill her.

"Miss Jiangzhu, don't be nervous. You're a level 25 spirit master. There will be no problem," Yu Tianyan reassured her, noticing her anxiety.

This statement made Liu Erlong unhappy again. She clenched her fists in frustration, though fortunately, the others didn't notice.

Yu Tianyan let out a long breath and said, "Let's get started."

Jing Ling, Huang Yuan, and Jiangzhu released their martial spirits simultaneously.

Six yellow spirit rings appeared at once. The trio extended their hands, releasing a large amount of spirit power to wrap the Heart Fire in front of them.

The Heart Fire itself was small—just a strip of flame—but the three were overly nervous and overexerted their spirit power.

Seeing this, Yu Tianyan shook his head helplessly and said, "Alright, that's enough. My mental power is attached to it. Swallow it into your stomach—quickly!"

Hearing his command, the three didn't hesitate. They grabbed the Heart Fire wrapped in layers of soul power with their hands, shoved it into their mouths, and swallowed it. Jiangzhu, in her nervousness, even used both hands to stuff it into her mouth.

Liu Erlong watched intently as the Heart Fire burned away the excess soul power they had used to contain it.

As the Heart Fire entered their bodies, the Fallen Heart Flame within Yu Tianyan was activated.

The three of them froze in place, feeling an intense burning sensation within their bodies. Huang Yuan's green wolf-like eyes widened in realization.

Yu Tianyan was a twin martial spirit master, and the fire they had consumed was closely linked to the flame within him. Huang Yuan deduced that this Heart Fire originated from Yu Tianyan's second martial spirit.

Without needing further explanation, he understood.

This was the critical fusion period. Yu Tianyan sat cross-legged, meditating on the spot. His mental power surged, controlling the Heart Fire within their bodies through his Fallen Heart Flame.

Twenty minutes later, the searing sensation in their bodies began to subside.

Liu Erlong noticed how composed they looked compared to her own experience. She attributed this to Yu Tianyan's improved control over the flames.

Another hour passed. Yu Tianyan dispersed his spiritual power and the flames surrounding him, then stood up, taking a few deep breaths.

The fusion was complete.

"Is it finished?" Huang Yuan asked eagerly.

The three of them stood still as Yu Tianyan manipulated the flames in their bodies to ensure the fusion was stable. He nodded and exhaled deeply.

Huang Yuan clenched his fists and focused. A nearly transparent, milky-white flame appeared within him. With a thought, the flame ignited and spread throughout his body, tempering his soul and body.

This sensation thrilled Huang Yuan, but after just two breaths, his eyes turned blood-red. He gasped violently, overwhelmed by an uncontrollable desire.

This sudden change startled Jing Ling and Jiangzhu, who quickly backed away.

"What's happening?" Jiangzhu asked anxiously.

"Stop! Stop right now!" Yu Tianyan, visibly exhausted, shouted.

He immediately released the Fallen Heart Flame, attempting to control the Heart Fire in Huang Yuan's body. But Huang Yuan had already fully activated the flame.

"Ouch, ouch!"

A fist flew.

Huang Yuan howled in pain and collapsed as Liu Erlong struck him down with a powerful punch.

Jing Ling shuddered at the sight, while Jiangzhu retreated further, bewildered by what had just happened.

While Huang Yuan's body trembled from the impact, Yu Tianyan quickly suppressed the Heart Fire within him.

Huang Yuan regained consciousness, rubbing a large bump on his head left by Liu Erlong's punch. He looked around in confusion.

"What just happened to me?" he asked.

"You lost control," Jiangzhu explained nervously. "Your eyes turned red, and you seemed—" She trailed off, blushing furiously.

Realizing what had occurred, Huang Yuan bowed to Liu Erlong. "Thank you for saving me, Dean."

Liu Erlong nodded coolly, but inside, she was fuming. She blamed Yu Tianyan for not warning them about the potential dangers.

Yu Tianyan sighed. "I'm sorry for not reminding you earlier."

He looked at the three of them. "Remember this: when activating the Heart Fire, never exceed 40% of its power. Miss Jiangzhu, for you, the limit is 30%. If you surpass these limits, even I might not be able to save you. Understood?"

The trio nodded gravely. Huang Yuan, now understanding the risk, was especially determined to avoid repeating his mistake.

"Yes, Captain," Jing Ling affirmed, breaking the tense atmosphere.

Huang Yuan grinned. "Alright, from now on, I'll call you Captain!"

Blushing, Jiangzhu added softly, "We're all yours from now on, Brother Tianyan."

Her words made Huang Yuan glance between Jiangzhu and Yu Tianyan suspiciously.

Yu Tianyan smiled awkwardly, feeling Liu Erlong's cold gaze burning into him.

"From this moment, we're a team who trusts each other with our lives," Yu Tianyan said encouragingly. "Let's work hard for the upcoming All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Competition."

"Yes, Captain!" the trio responded in unison.

Satisfied, Liu Erlong stepped forward, her expression unreadable. "Alright, since you've absorbed the Heart Fire, go back and focus on your cultivation."

Huang Yuan bowed and said, "Yes, Dean." He quickly left, followed by Jing Ling and Jiangzhu.

Yu Tianyan opened his mouth to say something but decided against it.

As the three disappeared, Liu Erlong's expression darkened. "Alright, Xiaoyan, didn't you call me an eyesore?"

Yu Tianyan froze, stepping back nervously. "Sister, that was just a misunderstanding!"

Liu Erlong advanced on him with a menacing smile. "You've recruited three subordinates now. You must be happy with such a pretty girl in the group."

Seeing no way to escape her wrath, Yu Tianyan spread his Thunder and Fire Wings and took to the sky.

Liu Erlong smirked. "You think you can run? Not a chance."

She followed him, her Thunder and Fire Wings blazing.

Despite his head start, Yu Tianyan couldn't outrun her. She caught him just before he reached the academy, and once again, he experienced the wrath of the female Tyrannosaurus.

Inside the academy, the three heard Yu Tianyan's pained cries and couldn't help but smile.
