Douluo Continent: The Real World

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Subjugation (2)

With burning eyes fixed on Yu Tianyan, Huang Yuan finally understood the purpose behind all his actions.

"Can I be as powerful as you?" Huang Yuan couldn't help but ask.

As soon as these words left his mouth, the usually aloof Jing Ling seemed to have thought of something, his eyes burning with determination. Meanwhile, Jiang Zhu, a little naive, didn't quite grasp what Yu Tianyan meant. What did he mean by giving them the potential to become Titled Douluo? Isn't potential something innate? How could it be given?

Yu Tianyan grinned awkwardly, realizing he might have shown off a bit too much. Huang Yuan's intense gaze seemed like it could devour him.

He chuckled nervously. "Brother Huang Yuan, I'm a special case."

Hearing this, Huang Yuan's expression darkened slightly, but he still replied, "Breaking through to Titled Douluo... Captain, don't blame me for being blunt, but you make it sound far too simple."

Jing Ling nodded in agreement. If even becoming a Titled Douluo was beyond their reach, being as powerful as Yu Tianyan seemed like mere wishful thinking.

Jiang Zhu, still confused, asked, "What are you talking about? Titled Douluo potential? Xiaoyan, I don't understand what you mean."

Yu Tianyan sighed helplessly. "Sister Jiang Zhu, please listen first. If you still don't understand after a while, I'll explain it to you privately."

"Privately?"

Jiang Zhu's cheeks flushed slightly, and she nodded.

Yu Tianyan then asked, "Brothers, what is your innate soul power level?"

Jing Ling replied calmly, "Level 7."

Huang Yuan followed with, "Level 6.5."

With a hint of pride, Jiang Zhu added, "Level 7." She felt it was noteworthy for an auxiliary spirit master like herself to have such a level of innate spirit power, so she volunteered her answer even though Yu Tianyan hadn't asked.

Yu Tianyan thought for a moment. It was as he had expected—nothing too far from his guess.

"Sister Jiang Zhu, you truly are talented. Now, what do you two think is the highest level you can achieve with your innate talent?"

Jiang Zhu shyly looked down and remained silent, while Huang Yuan and Jing Ling fell into deep thought.

Finally, both spoke simultaneously, "Soul Saint."

"With our talent, we can only reach the Soul Saint realm in this lifetime," Huang Yuan concluded.

Yu Tianyan nodded. "It is commonly known that the best cultivation age for a soul master is before 20. After that, the speed of cultivation drops sharply. What I can give you is a cultivation speed that will never slow down, completely ignoring the bottlenecks of soul masters. Your innate soul power level won't matter anymore."

Jiang Zhu gasped in surprise, finally understanding what he meant.

"What did you say?" Jing Ling asked sharply.

Huang Yuan, the calmest of the three, demanded, "Give us a reason to believe you. If you can truly do this, I'm willing to bear any cost."

Yu Tianyan smiled faintly. "Do you know what my sister Liu Erlong's current cultivation level is?"

The three exchanged glances before Jiang Zhu spoke. "I heard from Tailong that the Dean was already a Soul Saint 10 years ago. Her soul power is probably at level 74 or 75 by now."

Jing Ling and Huang Yuan nodded in agreement.

Yu Tianyan chuckled. "What if I told you that her soul power has now reached level 87?"

Jing Ling immediately objected. "Impossible!"

"That's right, Captain," Huang Yuan added. "This isn't something to joke about. How could the Dean advance more than ten levels in just 10 years?"

Jiang Zhu also looked skeptical.

Yu Tianyan remained unfazed. He looked up at the sky and called out, "Sister, don't just hover up there. Come down!"

The three looked up instinctively.

A figure descended swiftly from the sky. To their astonishment, it was their Dean, Liu Erlong, and what shocked them even more were the red and blue wings sprouting from her back—exactly like Yu Tianyan's.

In mere moments, Liu Erlong landed gracefully before them.

The trio bowed respectfully, exclaiming in unison, "Dean!"

Liu Erlong nodded. Sensing the situation, she immediately understood that Yu Tianyan had nearly finished explaining things. "Why did you call me down?" she asked.

Yu Tianyan smiled. "Sister, show them your soul rings."

Liu Erlong hesitated briefly, noticing the expectant and incredulous gazes from the trio. Though this wasn't what she and Yu Tianyan had agreed upon, she complied.

Activating her martial spirit, eight soul rings appeared beneath her feet, radiating their distinctive colors in sequence: yellow, yellow, purple, purple, black, black, black, black.

The trio watched in stunned silence as a ferocious fire dragon materialized behind Liu Erlong, and the overwhelming aura of an 87th-level Soul Douluo filled the air.

The pressure forced Yu Tianyan, Jing Ling, Huang Yuan, and Jiang Zhu to take several steps back.

Liu Erlong quickly withdrew her aura, almost certain of Yu Tianyan's intentions.

Huang Yuan broke the silence, his voice trembling. "Did you really do this? How is this even possible?"

Jiang Zhu exclaimed, "The Dean is actually a Soul Douluo!"

Jing Ling remained silent, though his eyes betrayed his shock.

Yu Tianyan's calm voice cut through the tension. "Not only is she a Soul Douluo, Sister Jiang Zhu, but her soul power is already at level 87. She's not far from becoming a Titled Douluo."

Liu Erlong frowned at the word "sister," feeling slightly irritated.

Jiang Zhu looked at Liu Erlong with newfound admiration.

"Oh my god!" Huang Yuan exclaimed.

Finally, Jing Ling asked, "Dean, is this true?"

Liu Erlong nodded. "It's true. I don't know what Xiaoyan told you, but within five years at most, I'll break through to the Titled Douluo realm."

This revelation left the trio completely awestruck.

Huang Yuan eventually asked, "Dean, does this method have any side effects on the body?"

Yu Tianyan responded before Liu Erlong could, "It does."

Liu Erlong looked at him, puzzled.

"What kind of side effects, and how severe are they?" Huang Yuan pressed.

Yu Tianyan smiled, seeing their anxious expressions. "What I can give you is a cultivation cheat. The specific effects depend entirely on you."

Jing Ling asked in confusion, "Cheat? What do you mean by 'depends on us'?"

Yu Tianyan extended his hand, and as the surrounding temperature rose, three invisible flames appeared above his palm.
