Chapter 34: Chapter 33: Xu Sanshi’s Dark Thoughts, Tang Ya’s Identity Exposed
At Shrek Academy.
Tang Ya and her friend Jiang Nannan walked out of the academy gates, holding hands. The two beautiful girls immediately attracted attention from countless onlookers.
Jiang Nannan looked about fourteen or fifteen years old, with a slender and graceful figure. Her wavy golden hair cascaded down her back, and her skin was fair as snow. Her clear eyes sparkled with a refined elegance, radiating a charm so exquisite that she seemed to dim everything around her.
Beside her was Tang Ya, equally stunning, with long black hair tied back by a purple ribbon. She had a gentle and serene aura, yet there was an aloofness about her that seemed to keep others at a distance. As her Dark Blue Silver Grass spirit gradually transformed into a more potent dark spirit, Tang Ya had started to exude a colder, more remote demeanor. Only in Qian Ran's presence did this icy facade melt away, revealing her softer, more tender side.
These two beautiful girls, hand in hand and dressed in school uniforms, were like a perfect picture, enchanting everyone around them.
"Xiao Ya, are you really with a freshman? I still can't believe it—you actually went and did something like this in secret." Jiang Nannan gripped her best friend Tang Ya's hand. She found the rumor hard to believe. When she heard that Beibei had been defeated by a freshman, her first reaction was that it couldn't be true. And to hear that Tang Ya was with this freshman? Even more unbelievable.
That rumor seemed too absurd, right?
Even if Tang Ya wasn't with Beibei, would she really just pick some freshman?
With Tang Ya's beauty, there were plenty of people in the academy pursuing her.
"Mm," Tang Ya nodded slightly, her mind wandering to thoughts of Qian Ran. A blissful smile appeared on her delicate face.
Since entrusting her body to Qian Ran, she'd felt enveloped in happiness. Was she now his wife? She longed to grow up together with him and eventually walk into the hall of marriage.
She didn't regret being with Qian Ran. Even if others misunderstood her because of it, she didn't mind at all.
Qian Ran was simply the best, and being with him felt like her greatest fortune.
Given some time, Qian Ran would undoubtedly shine brilliantly. And by then, she'd be the one who had seen his potential from the start, becoming the object of envy for countless girls.
"Is he really that great?"
Having known Tang Ya for so many years, Jiang Nannan could tell a lot just from her expression. But why did Tang Ya look so blissful just from mentioning Qian Ran?
It seemed those rumors were true, not just idle gossip!
"Mm. He's the most remarkable man I've ever met. No contest," Tang Ya replied earnestly, reflecting. Her feelings for Qian Ran weren't just infatuation. His talent was truly extraordinary.
In her view, there was no one else at Shrek Academy who could compare to Qian Ran.
Beibei and the others were already highly talented, and had even been considered as representatives for Shrek Academy in the upcoming Continental Advanced Spirit Master Tournament. But even they couldn't stand up to Qian Ran.
Jiang Nannan laughed, amused by Tang Ya's serious expression. "You're really that into your little man? But he's only a first-year!"
Tang Ya's deeply serious face made Jiang Nannan want to laugh. Was this how people acted when they were in love?
What charm did that guy possess to captivate Tang Ya so thoroughly?
She suspected that if she dared speak poorly of Qian Ran, Tang Ya would defend him without a second thought.
Jiang Nannan was growing more and more curious about Qian Ran. What was it about this young freshman that had Tang Ya so head-over-heels?
Wait…
If Tang Ya really liked Qian Ran, then maybe Beibei's defeat by Qian Ran wasn't a rumor, either?
Jiang Nannan suddenly stopped in her tracks, staring at Tang Ya.
"Xiao Ya, did Beibei really lose?" Jiang Nannan found it hard to believe. Beibei's strength was something they all recognized. Beibei and Xu Sanshi were known as the twin stars of the outer courtyard.
Not many people in the outer courtyard could beat Beibei. At least, she hadn't met anyone who could.
Could a freshman really be strong enough to defeat Beibei?
"Of course! Qian Ran is incredibly strong! And he didn't use any tricks, either. He beat Beibei fair and square!" Tang Ya's face glowed with pride. Beibei was strong, but Qian Ran was stronger.
And Qian Ran was still just a freshman. In a few years, there would be no one who could hold him back.
"Is he really that powerful? Can a freshman truly beat Beibei?" Jiang Nannan was astonished. Only now did she realize just how outrageously strong Qian Ran was.
Tang Ya chuckled, "When you meet him, you'll understand just how impressive he is." Qian Ran's strength wasn't limited to battle—he was powerful in other ways too. That time, she'd needed a long recovery before that fiery ache finally faded.
"Beibei, it seems you've truly met your match."
Listening to Tang Ya and Jiang Nannan's conversation as they strolled, Xu Sanshi muttered to himself.
Ever since his defeat, Beibei had been listless, haunted by the thought of losing Tang Ya. But he lacked the strength to compete with Qian Ran.
If he couldn't even defeat Qian Ran, a freshman, what right did he have to pursue Tang Ya?
Seeing Beibei in such a state left Xu Sanshi disappointed.
He had once thought of Beibei as his lifelong rival, but now it seemed he had misjudged him. Beibei had crumbled just because of a woman, and Xu Sanshi found it pathetic.
While he was drawn to Jiang Nannan's beauty, he would never act like Beibei.
Jiang Nannan was indeed a stunning woman, but Xu Sanshi saw her as nothing more than a conquest, a plaything. He wanted Jiang Nannan to submit to him, body and soul, in due time.
Like a cat playing with a mouse.
Jiang Nannan had a haughty air and even looked down on him, which only made him want to bring her down, to trap her and make her yield.
He imagined eventually discarding this game and making Jiang Nannan do whatever he wanted, turning her into his plaything. Perhaps he could even make her crawl at his feet like a lowly dog.
Beibei couldn't even distinguish his relationship with these women. This, Xu Sanshi thought, was where Beibei fell short of him.
He would never fall apart over a woman like Beibei.
"Beibei, don't you find it strange? There's something off about Tang Ya's aura lately." Xu Sanshi had noticed that Tang Ya's strength had grown significantly, even to the point where he could no longer gauge her power accurately.
How had Tang Ya advanced so quickly?
Even if she had somehow boosted her spirit power, her spirit was just Blue Silver Grass. With her spirit alone, she shouldn't be able to exude such a menacing presence. Yet he detected a faint hint of something dark, a sinister aura emanating from her, so subtle that most people wouldn't notice, but Xu Sanshi's sharp senses had picked up on it.
