Douluo: Becoming a God by Relying on my Enemies

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Feng Wu!

After registration, it was time to assign matches. Flender led the group to the combat area of the sparring category and gave Yun Feng a few brief instructions before heading into the arena himself.

Dai Mubai explained to Yun Feng and the others that in the Great Spirit Arena, only those with more than five consecutive victories, high-ranked badges, or extremely high soul master levels could compete in the main arena.

For newcomers like them, fights were limited to sub-arenas.

Winning a single match in the Iron Spirit category would earn the victor ten gold coins, while losing meant no prize at all.

Soon, the group's matches were scheduled. Since they had arrived together, they were all assigned to the sparring section of the 14th sub-arena. Yun Feng, Xiao Wu, and Dai Mubai were matched against Soul Elders, while the rest faced Soul Grandmasters.

The sheer scale and organization of the Great Spirit Arena left Yun Feng impressed. Each of the 24 sub-arenas was further divided into detailed categories, including sparring and life-or-death duels. Each category had three formats: one-on-one, two-on-two, and group battles.

Thus, a single sub-arena housed six isolated fighting platforms.

As for the wagering battles, Dai Mubai explained that these matches, regardless of level, were always held in the main arena.

The Great Spirit Arena's operational model was highly refined. Different types of matches were priced differently, and the cheapest tickets were for one-on-one sparring matches like the ones Yun Feng and the others were about to participate in. Unsurprisingly, these matches also drew the smallest crowds.

The participating soul masters were gathered in a spacious waiting room to rest before their matches.

The arrival of Yun Feng's group immediately caught the attention of the other soul masters, as their young age was hard to ignore. While some looked surprised, no one mocked them. Instead, most soul masters meditated quietly, preparing themselves for the upcoming battles.

Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing sat beside Yun Feng. Xiao Wu leaned in and whispered, "I just asked Dai Mubai. Each soul master can only participate in one sparring match per day, but they can register for multiple types."

"We're all Soul Elders, so it shouldn't be hard to win. Why don't we sign up for a two-on-two match too? It'll help us earn points faster. What do you think?"

Yun Feng's current soul power level was in an awkward spot. Technically at forty, he could be considered a Soul Ancestor but lacked his fourth soul ring, which left him in the Soul Elder category.

Smiling, Yun Feng nodded. "No problem. We're here to gain combat experience, after all. The more fights, the better."

"Let's go sign up now. The one-on-one matches will take a while to start."

With that, Yun Feng and Xiao Wu left the one-on-one section and headed to the two-on-two registration area.

"The registration fee is ten gold coins. For each victory, you'll earn ten gold coins total," the staff member informed them, collecting the fee.

Since their levels had already been registered, all they needed to do was present their Iron Spirit Badges—no additional paperwork required.

"Please provide a name for your team," the staff member added.

"A name?" Yun Feng glanced at Xiao Wu. In two-on-two and group battles, teams were required to have a name for introductions.

"What do you think we should call ourselves?"

Xiao Wu thought for a moment before grinning. "How about Feng Wu? It's a combination of your name and mine—it sounds great!"

Though Yun Feng found the name a bit feminine, he didn't argue. It was just a label, after all.

"Alright, Feng Wu it is."

Soon, their Iron Spirit Badges were updated with the name "Feng Wu" engraved on them.

Back in the one-on-one section, matches were decided by drawing lots. During matches, waiting participants could either rest or spectate.

Yun Feng's group decided to watch Xiao Wu's match, as she was the first to compete.

Led by staff, they moved to a special viewing area at the side of the fighting platform, offering a full view of the match.

Despite being a sub-arena, the platform was sizable, with a diameter of twenty meters, providing ample space for soul masters to maneuver.

However, the audience turnout was sparse, with only about a fifth of the seats occupied.

On the platform, a middle-aged man in a tailcoat stood at the center. Clearing his throat, he announced loudly:

"The first match of the 14th sub-arena's one-on-one sparring category is about to begin! Competing today are two Soul Elders. Representing the soft-boned rabbit martial soul, we have Battle Soul Master Xiao Wu. Her opponent, with two consecutive wins, is Battle Soul Master Qing Nian, wielding the iron-horned rhino martial soul."

"Will Qing Nian continue his winning streak and secure a third victory, or will newcomer Xiao Wu claim the win? Let's find out!"

"Now, let's welcome our two Soul Elders to the stage!"

The sparse crowd offered a smattering of applause, with a few calling out Qing Nian's name. Most seemed indifferent to the match.

A towering figure soon appeared on the platform. Qing Nian stood a staggering two meters tall, his broad shoulders and muscular frame resembling a statue carved from granite. His dark skin rippled with corded muscles, and his copper bell-like eyes gleamed with menace. As he stepped onto the stage, he let out a thunderous roar, exuding an intimidating aura.

It was clear that he was a power-type Battle Soul Master, much like Zhao Wuji.

Sitting beside Yun Feng, Zhu Zhuqing whispered, "That guy looks strong. Can Xiao Wu handle him?"

Yun Feng chuckled softly. "Wait and see. Xiao Wu's skills can be tricky against strength-based opponents, but that's only if their strength vastly exceeds hers."

"At the same level, power-type soul masters are…"

Before he could finish, Xiao Wu had already leapt onto the platform, her face radiating youthful enthusiasm.

Clad in a white top and pink pants, her petite frame and innocent features drew the audience's attention instantly.

"Isn't she too young? Didn't the announcer say she's a Soul Elder? That can't be right."

Similar doubts rippled through the crowd, though their sympathy quickly shifted to Xiao Wu. Her appearance was far more appealing than the hulking Qing Nian's, earning her the favor of most spectators.

Support for Xiao Wu swelled as more people cheered her on, rooting for the underdog in what promised to be an exciting match.
