Chapter 10: Poison family
Five days later, the Dugo family arrived at our family palace. They were asked to wait in the guest meeting house while I made my way there. In the past five days, I had purchased another vial of dragon awakening blood and continued my cultivation. I noticed that cultivation had become easier for me with the system's guidance and the best cultivation techniques and supplies. I was now at level 19 and could break through to level 20 at any time.
The system suggested that I focus more on controlling my soul power, making it as concentrated as possible before advancing to the next level. It also informed me that, given the resources available, I could potentially reach a soul power level of 90 within two years, but this would come at the cost of lower combat power. The system recommended that I prioritize controlling my soul power and the elements of thunder and space.
I had been cultivating diligently, but I realized that I needed to change my approach. I was focusing too much on increasing my soul power level and not enough on controlling it. The system was right: a powerful soul power without control was like a weapon in the hands of a child. It could be dangerous to both myself and others.
I decided to take the system's advice and focus on controlling my soul power. I started by practicing various techniques that helped me to concentrate my soul power and direct it with precision. I also began to explore the elements of thunder and space, learning about their properties and how to manipulate them.
It was a challenging process, but I was determined to succeed. I knew that mastering these elements would give me a significant advantage in battle. With a concentrated and controlled soul power, I could unleash devastating attacks that would leave my enemies stunned and helpless.
I spent countless hours practicing and studying. I read countless books and scrolls, and I experimented with different techniques. I pushed myself to my limits, and I never gave up.
Eventually, I began to see results. My control over my soul power improved, and I was able to manipulate the elements of thunder and space with greater precision. I could create powerful lightning bolts and manipulate the fabric of space itself.
I was confident that I was on the right path. With the system's guidance and my own hard work, I was sure that I could achieve my goal of becoming a powerful and respected martial artist.
Upon arriving at the guest hall, I was greeted by all the elders of our family. The Dugo family, consisting of Dugo Bo (level 78), his wife Mei You (level 71), and his father Yin Dao (level 88), were also present. As I entered the guest meeting hall, all the members of the poison family turned to look at me, their faces filled with a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
The patriarch of the Dugo family, Yin Dao, was the first to speak. "Brother, you said you found the cure," he began, his voice trembling slightly. "Does it involve your son?"
My father nodded. "Yes, brother," he replied. "He is the one who suggested the cure and the only person in our family who can provide it."
A murmur of surprise ran through the poison family. They had heard rumors about the cure, but they had never imagined that it would involve such a young man.
Yin Dao's eyes narrowed. "Is he the person you told us about? The one we have to take an oath to receive the cure for our family?"
My father nodded again. "Yes, he is," he replied. "He is the only one who can help us."
The members of the poison family exchanged glances. They knew that they had no choice but to trust my father and his son. They had been suffering from the poison for generations, and they were desperate for a cure.
The three members of the poison family then took the oath, pledging their loyalty to our family and promising to never reveal the secret of the cure. Once they had completed the oath, Dugo Bo, the eldest son of the poison family, asked, "Brother, now that we have taken the oath, can you tell us about the cure?"
My father nodded and handed me four vials of dragon blood. I explained that my blood, after awakening, had the unique ability to increase the concentration of dragon blood within a person and transform their martial soul. In the case of the Dugo family, this transformation would result in their martial souls evolving into poison dragons, granting them complete control over poison and thus curing their family's centuries-old curse.
As Dugo Bo's father listened to my explanation, his eyes filled with hope. He knew that his family had been trapped in a cycle of suffering for far too long, and he had almost lost faith in the possibility of a cure. But now, he saw a glimmer of hope.
I then asked the system to analyze Dugo Bo's father:
Name: Ying Dao Soul power level: 88 Martial soul: Jade phosphorus snake Status: Highly poisoned (suggestion: may die within 2 years)
The system's analysis revealed that his condition was far worse than I had anticipated. I had initially thought he might survive for more than five years, but now I realized that even with the aid of dragon blood and a martial soul awakening, he might only have 15 more years to live. His body had likely used up a significant amount of his life force to combat the poison over the years. His martial soul, the Jade phosphorus snake, was also severely weakened by the poison, and it was unclear whether it would be able to withstand the transformation.
I asked the system if there was a way to extend his life. "Yes, host," the system replied. "You can give him a life elongation pill. The length of the extension will depend on the pill you choose."
I then asked the system if it could combine the dragon blood with a life elongation pill that could extend life for 100 years. "Yes, host," the system replied. "Would you like to purchase a new dragon blood vial or use one of the ones on the table?"
I chose one from the table. "Process completed," the system said. I could feel a slight golden aura emanating from one of the vials.
While I was doing this, the members of our family and the poison family were conversing among themselves.
I then took three copies of cultivation techniques and placed them on the table. "Uncle Dugo, you should all try these cultivation techniques," I said.
Dugo Bo replied, "Our family already has a cultivation technique that suits us."
I assured him that the techniques I was offering were far superior to anything they had ever seen. After reading the books, they were all shocked and exclaimed that these techniques must be god-tier.
I encouraged them to learn these techniques immediately and take the dragon blood the next day for optimal results. They understood and nodded.
We then returned to our house, leaving the poison family in the guest house while their family residence was being built.
The life elongation pill I had chosen was a powerful artifact that could extend a person's life by up to 100 years. However, it was also a rare and valuable item, and I knew that it would be difficult to find another one.
I decided to give the pill to Yin Dao, the patriarch of the poison family. He was the oldest member of the family, and he had suffered the most from the poison. I hoped that the pill would give him a few more years of life, allowing him to see his family prosper and grow.
As I handed the pill to Yin Dao, I explained that it was a powerful artifact that could extend his life by up to 100 years. However, I also warned him that it was a one-time use item and that there were no guarantees.
Yin Dao was deeply touched by my gesture. He thanked me profusely, and I could see the tears welling up in his eyes. He knew that without this pill, he would have only a few years left to live. But now, thanks to my generosity, he had a chance to see his family through to a brighter future.
I watched as Yin Dao took the pill and swallowed it. A warm glow spread through his body, and I could feel his life force increasing. I knew that the pill was working, and I was hopeful that it would give him the additional years he needed to live a full and happy life.
