Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Mysterious Ruins
After Edwin came out of the abandoned factory, he felt as if he had been reborn. He rushed back to the old man without stopping and recounted his experiences in the factory to him.
After listening, the old man nodded slightly, with a look of relief in his eyes: "Child, you did very well. But this is just the beginning. The real challenge is still ahead."
Edwin's gaze was firm: "Sir, I'm ready."
The old man pondered for a moment and said: "Not far from here, in a valley, there is a mysterious ruin. Legend has it that there are powerful cultivation treasures and profound cultivation secrets hidden there. But at the same time, it is also full of unknown dangers. Are you willing to go and explore?"
Edwin didn't hesitate for a moment: "I am willing!"
Early the next morning, Edwin set off on the journey to the valley ruins. Along the way, he crossed mountains and hills and passed through the thick forest. The forest was filled with thick fog. The trees were tall and gloomy, and the branches and leaves intertwined, almost blocking all the sunlight. The ground was covered with thick fallen leaves, and every step would make a dull sound.
Suddenly, a huge spider dropped from the tree, and its sharp fangs glinted with cold light. Edwin quickly dodged sideways and waved the short sword in his hand. A ray of spiritual energy flashed, and one of the spider's legs was cut off.
The spider let out an angry hiss and spat out a ball of white spider silk. Edwin hurriedly jumped to avoid it. The spider silk stuck to the trunk beside it and instantly corroded the trunk full of holes.
After a fierce battle, Edwin finally killed the spider. He continued to move forward and finally reached the entrance of the valley.
The valley was filled with a mysterious atmosphere, and the silence around was terrifying. The peaks on both sides towered into the clouds, and the steep cliffs were covered with vines. The bottom of the valley was filled with a faint mist, making the road loom.
Edwin carefully walked into the valley. The stones under his feet seemed to have life and trembled slightly.
As he walked, he came to an ancient temple. The door of the temple was closed, but a weak light leaked through the crack of the door. The temple was covered with moss all around, and some of the bricks and stones on the wall had fallen off, revealing the traces of time.
Edwin gently pushed the door open, and a stale smell rushed towards him. The temple was filled with dust and spider webs, and a huge idol stood in the center.
As he approached the idol, he found an ancient book held in the idol's hand. Just as he was about to reach for it, the idol suddenly moved and waved its huge fist at him.
Edwin hurriedly backed away, greatly shocked in his heart. He composed himself, recited the Taoist incantation: "The power of spirit, ignite the blue flame." His hands formed seals and cast the spell he had just learned. Streams of blue flames flew towards the idol.
The idol wasn't afraid at all. The flames had no effect on it. Edwin frowned tightly and recited the incantation again: "The force of nature, turn to thunder's might." Streams of thunderbolts gathered in his hand and struck at the idol.
However, this still didn't work. Edwin realized that this idol might have a special weakness.
He carefully observed the idol's movements and found that whenever the idol moved, the ground under its feet would tremble slightly.
"Could the weakness be under its feet?" Edwin thought to himself.
He leaped up and recited: "The energy of heaven, burst in light." His hands released a strong light and launched an attack towards the idol's feet. Sure enough, the idol's movements became sluggish.
Edwin seized the opportunity to increase the intensity of the attack. Finally, the idol collapsed with a loud crash and turned into a pile of rubble.
He picked up the ancient book in the idol's hand and opened it. It recorded a powerful cultivation technique.
Edwin was overjoyed and continued to explore in the temple. In the back hall of the temple, he discovered a secret room. The door of the secret room was engraved with runes, emitting a powerful force.
Edwin tried to use spiritual energy to crack the runes. He first recited: "The essence of universe, unlock the mystery door." Injecting spiritual energy into the runes, but there was no response.
He changed the incantation: "The wisdom of Tao, break the code and show." Holding his breath and concentrating, he recited the incantation again, and finally opened the door of the secret room.
Inside the room, there was a sword emitting blue light. Edwin reached out and held the hilt, and a powerful force instantly spread throughout his body.
"This must be an unparalleled magic wartifact!" He thought excitedly.
Just then, a low growl suddenly came from the secret room. A huge monster slowly emerged from the darkness...
