Don’t Trample on Innocent Love

Chapter 25.1

Ophelia strained her neck to avoid looking sideways. Throughout her visit to Dumiél Atelie, which was a shop thar was specialized in making bridal gowns, Ophelia’s mind was filled with questions. It was because of the unexpected person she had met. And that unexpected person was…

“I like the lace, but what do you think, Lord Valent?”

“Whatever please you.”

Ophelia became more confused by Robern’s blunt response. According to what she had overheard while pretending to order her own dress, the two seemed to be in a marriage arrangement as of late. Robern? in a marriage arrangement? But he had never stopped going around and breaking hearts, as if living as a bachelor was his dearest wish.

‘So he said he liked me.’

Ophelia let out a hollow laugh. Of course, she didn’t believe Robern’s words. How could such a fickle man be sincere? She knew that, but she couldn’t help feeling frustrated.

‘A man without any emotions. A cold-blooded creature without a drop of blood or tears…’

Ophelia felt ashamed of herself for having been swayed by him, even for a moment, and she hated him.

As Ophelia, who had been struggling not to look that way, inadvertently turned her head, her eyes met Robern’s, who had been watching her.

Robern was glaring at Ophelia with a displeased gaze, turning his back on the woman he had brought.

The one who ended the useless staring competition was Ophelia. She sneaked a sideways glance at them, pretending to turn her eyes away. She was curious. Just who was that woman.

Robern, who was now arm-in-arm with the woman, was not looking at Ophelia. When the woman whispered something to him, Robern chuckled softly.

That laughter seemed affectionate, and Ophelia couldn’t tear her eyes away. He had never laughed like that with her before. Her heart ached, and she lowered her head deeply.

Just who was that woman? Why was Robern being so kind towards her?

Robern had always been impartial. He viewed women as mere stones, of course, and never allowed anyone to get close to him. While he was sometimes seen indulging in promiscuous behavior, this casual lover-like attitude was a first.

Even the way he was laughing…

“My Lady, what are you thinking so deeply about?”

“Ah, it’s nothing.”

“Is something wrong? Your expression looks quite troubled.”

The designer glanced at Ophelia, who was half-heartedly examining the dress fitting. Ophelia, who had been lost in thought, smiled and said it was nothing. The designer seemed to somewhat realized the reason behind this, lowered his voice and apologized.

“I’m sorry, My Lady. You were the only one who booked the appointment, but suddenly, Lady Philon suddenly came without notice… I should have firmly refused, but I was worried about offending the Duke of Valent… I’m so sorry. I won’t let it happen again.”
