Chapter 39 Lanci's First Lesson of the School Year_1
In September, in the Ekrite of the Royal Capital, the temperature had gradually faded from the summer heat.
The early morning breeze at the Ichrite Magic Academy brought a hint of coolness, making Lanci, who lived on the first floor, yawn involuntarily.
Today was the first day of school, so he couldn't afford to sleep in.
Rolling out of bed and leaving his bedroom, Lanci brushed his teeth and sleepily looked outside through the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room. He saw several birds chirping on the edge of a small independent courtyard resembling a small garden. That was the balcony of his dormitory.
When Lanci opened the curtain and gradually approached the birds, they still hopped about without showing any signs of wanting to fly away.
Just like that, Lanci stayed in the courtyard for a while, and more and more birds gathered around him.
They acted as if they were very intimate with Lanci, longing to stay close to him.
"I'm not a Druid, why am I so welcomed by you..."
Lanci mumbled unclearly while brushing his teeth.
He'd already noticed that whenever he walked around, whether in the border towns where he'd attract numerous cute kittens or after his arrival at Ichrite Academy, the campus birds treated him like a friend.
The small animals seemed to be completely unguarded towards him.
Maybe his emerald green pupils naturally emitted a gentle aura, or maybe his presence was reminiscent of a poetic painting.
Anyway, he didn't mind being surrounded by these small creations.
After finishing his morning routine, Lanci put on the Sage Academy student uniform that had been delivered by the student service center.
Then he stood in front of the mirror.
The beautiful lineaments of the young boy's face reflected in the mirror, a straight nose, hair neatly combed behind his left ear, black hair shining brilliantly and calmly in the sun. His slender light eyebrows contrasted to his green eyes which were warm, friendly, elegant, and calm.
The deep blue main tone of the long coat elegantly covered his slender body. The design of the Sage Academy uniform was like the midnight sky, mysterious and profound. The cuffs of the coat were wide with golden trims, patterned in Hutton Kingdom's artistic style and reminiscent of ancient symbols from the South Continent.
Inside the coat, the collar of the shirt was folded into a vintage white decoration. In the center of the collar decoration was a small golden badge, with the school emblem of Ichrite Academy and the protective spell pattern of Sage Academy engraved on it. Under the sunshine, it sparkled like a bright star without losing its artistic sense.
Underneath the shirt were dark-colored pants and a pair of boots. The boots were polished to shine with a black sheen.
Lanci stomped lightly. They were both sturdy and comfortable, perfectly suited to the needs of an adventurer.
"Perfect, let's go."
Lanci's legendary life began today!
...
The main building of Sage Academy, Ichrite Academy.
Compared to other classical architectures in the academy, this building seemed quite novel and distinctive. The roof consisted of a series of light-sensitive magic devices, introducing different natural light while blocking low-angle sunlight.
This year, more than a hundred qualified Sage Academy students were divided into three random classes.
Elective courses don't have static classrooms. Instead, each class requires traveling to the designated building based on course schedules sometimes including multi-functional classrooms or experimental fields of other departments.
However, compulsory classes are courses that all students must take regardless of their selection of courses. Students from the same class would all gather in a fixed classroom during compulsory lessons.
For the first semester, the freshmen of Sage Academy wouldn't get many chances to challenge the real Shadow World, so the schedules are packed with basic compulsory classes.
Such as today, there are a total of four compulsory classes: "Introduction to Magic Control", "Casting Techniques", "Principle of Non-Chanting Casting", and "Magic Detection and Shielding".
"Let's go to class with a breeze."
Lanci quickly found the classroom according to the map signage in the campus.
When he spotted the classroom, quite a few students had already arrived.
He should have been quite early, but he spent a few more minutes than planned feeding his animal friends on the balcony.
The wooden floor tiered classroom was very spacious, providing ample space and desk area for each student.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows was a field of green lawn. The sunshine streamed in through the windows, making the classroom bright and warm. The room's light was a combination of natural and artificial light that could be adjusted as needed.
When Lanci stepped into the classroom, the students inside simultaneously showed expressions suggesting "a rare personage has been spotted".
Without a doubt, the black-haired, green-eyed gentleman was Lanci, this year's top scorer in the Sage Academy entrance exam, also known as the "Dark Judge".
That was the nickname some students in the academy gave Lanci, belonging to a new category in the legal profession of Sage Academy.
Although Lanci's performance in the second round of the exam was quite famous, nobody really knew about his combat abilities.
The most widely circulated rumor was - "This guy was incredibly lucky. He faced a reviewer who suffered from a congenital cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease in the third round, so he easily passed".
Therefore, quite a few students were actually a little envious, jealous, hateful, and doubtful of Lanci.
"Oh."
Just as Lanci walked into the classroom and took a look at the scattered seats, he quickly noticed one isolated student in the back -
Miss Duchess Huberian.
She was his good teammate he met during the third round of the live-action test in the [Infinite Illusion Valley].
She seemed to have chosen a position in the back voluntarily.
Not only that, but there was also an empty circle around her as if everyone was intentionally avoiding her.
