Divorced and Determined: The CEO’s Ex-Wife Fights for Love

Chapter 71

Chapter 71 Oh My God! Lu Qin Earns 1.2 Million a Month! And I’m Lu Xiyao’s Real Mom!

Lu Qin handed Fang Ya an iced mung bean smoothie to quench her thirst, leaving Shen Muyan empty-handed.

Fang Ya couldn’t hide her smugness, thinking, Well, well, Shen Muyan, looks like it’s your turn to feel left out!

Who divorces a perfect husband like this? What a fool!

Imagine living with someone who can cook like this for a lifetime—how amazing would that be!

She deliberately made loud sipping noises with her straw, glancing at Shen Muyan with a mischievous look. Shen Muyan kept her cool, maintaining her icy demeanor, but Fang Ya could see through her facade. Inside, Shen Muyan was probably frustrated and annoyed, but as the composed CEO she was, she didn’t let her emotions show.

Fang Ya clicked her tongue and shook her head.

“Lu Boss, since there are two of us, could you pack two extra boxes of Ice Crystal Cake and Imperial Chicken Wings for us?”

“Man, I starved filming in Chang City, even at their best-rated restaurants. Nothing comes close to your cooking—not even one-tenth as good!”

Fang Ya’s arrival delayed the line by several minutes, and the increasingly impatient customers behind them started complaining.

“Hey, you two up front, hurry up and finish! Buy your stuff and move on. We’ve been waiting forever!”

“Excuse me, ma’am, cutting in line isn’t fair. You can’t just do that!”

“Another pretty lady shows up, and Lu Boss starts playing favorites again!”

“They’re buying five boxes of  Ice Crystal Cake and four boxes of Imperial Chicken Wings! I thought there were limits? If they can, so can I!”

“These two must be Lu Boss’s friends. First time’s forgiven, I guess.”

Lu Qin explained calmly, “Sorry, these two are friends of mine, so I’m giving them special treatment. Hope you understand.”

Hearing this, most of the grumbling subsided.

“Alright, alright, just hurry up and move along. Don’t hold us up—there’s a whole crowd starving back here!”

Lu Qin turned to Shen Muyan and Fang Ya. “We’ll catch up later. If I don’t get back to work, this could turn into a public crisis.”

Shen Muyan took out her phone to scan the QR code.

“How much?”

Lu Qin shook his head.

“No need.”

Fang Ya wasn’t having it.

“Why not? Lu Boss, running a food cart is hard work. We’re not freeloaders—just tell us the total, and don’t give us any discounts.”

She pointed to Shen Muyan with a smirk.

“Let the rich lady pay.”

Shen Muyan shot Fang Ya a quick glance but said nothing.

Lu Qin wasn’t one to argue unnecessarily.

After a quick calculation, he replied, ‘289 yuan’. Shen Muyan paid without hesitation. She noticed that Lu Qin didn’t charge for the extra two mung bean smoothies, one box of Ice Crystal Cake, and one box of Imperial Chicken Wings. The realization made her lips curl slightly, her mood inexplicably lifted.

“We’re leaving now. See you next time,” Fang Ya said cheerfully, taking the bag of food and slinging it over her arm.

She playfully squeezed Shen Muyan’s shoulder as they walked away, only for Shen Muyan to brush her hand off coolly.

“While standing in line, I did some rough calculations,” Shen Muyan began calmly. “The average customer spends over 200 yuan. Lu Qin’s cart still has about half of its supplies left. Based on this, his earnings for the afternoon alone should be at least 15,000 yuan.”

She continued, “Adding his morning and evening stalls, his daily income is likely around 45,000 yuan. After deducting costs, his net profit is approximately 40,000 yuan per day.”

Though her tone was composed, waves of emotion surged within her. Her perception had been completely overturned. She had never imagined that running a food stall could generate so much income. But this was clearly an exception—because there was only one Lu Qin, with his unparalleled cooking skills.

What puzzled her even more was that during their years of marriage, she had never discovered this talent of his.

Had she never truly understood her own husband? Or had he deliberately kept it hidden?

But thinking about it now was pointless—they were already divorced.

It was a haunting realization.

Meanwhile, Fang Ya’s mouth hung open in shock, forming a perfect ‘O’.

“Oh my God! Lu Qin earns 1.2 million a month!”

She had always guessed that Lu Qin’s business was profitable, even telling Shen Muyan once that his income might already surpass hers as a CEO—excluding hotel shares, of course.

But now, the numbers she was hearing suggested that Lu Qin’s monthly earnings were nearly equal to what she and Shen Muyan made combined in a year.

Adding to that, Lu Qin had recently gone viral online, and his popularity was still growing. The number of customers would only continue to increase.

Fang Ya clenched her fists.

“Why didn’t you say so earlier, rich lady? If I’d known, we wouldn’t have paid for our food!”

At this rate, Lu Qin was on the fast track to becoming a millionaire—or even a multi-millionaire.

“From now on, we’ll eat for free every day!” Fang Ya declared.

Shen Muyan replied with a faint smile.

“No problem. You’ve got the thick skin for it. Just remember to bring me an order too…”

“Ugh!”

Fang Ya groaned dramatically.

As they left the queue, Fang Ya suddenly stopped in her tracks.

“What’s wrong?” Shen Muyan asked.

Fang Ya turned her head, her gaze landing on a woman in the queue. The woman had a baby face, fair skin, and a petite, delicate figure. Her makeup was flawless, making her quite pretty.

Sensing Fang Ya’s stare, the woman raised her eyebrows in confusion.

“Do you need something?”

Fang Ya pulled out her phone, opened Lu Qin’s foodie QQ group, and scrolled through the member list. She stopped at a profile with a real photo as the avatar—it was the woman standing before her.

“You’re ‘Yao Yao’s Stepmom’?” Fang Ya asked sharply.

Hearing this, Shen Muyan glanced at the woman, her elegant brows furrowing slightly. The surrounding customers, overhearing, also looked at the woman.

“Hey, it really is ‘Yao Yao’s Stepmom’!”

“She’s pretty, but she doesn’t match up to Lu Boss.”

“True, Lu Boss’s daughter is way cuter. Being a stepmom isn’t an easy job!”

“I think this beautiful lady here would suit Lu Boss much better.”

Someone pointed towards Shen Muyan, but she didn’t notice. Her attention was fixed on the so-called ‘Yao Yao’s Stepmom.’

“What kind of nickname is that? Are you really Yao Yao’s stepmom? Did you even get a marriage certificate?” Fang Ya scoffed, her tone icy.

The woman, realizing Fang Ya wasn’t friendly, puffed up defensively.

“Not now, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen in the future. What’s wrong with being a future stepmom?”

Fang Ya snorted.

“The future? You’re not qualified.”

“Who are you to say that? You don’t make the rules!” The woman shot back.

“Who am I? I’m Yao Yao’s godmother,” Fang Ya replied, pulling out her phone. She opened her photo gallery and showed several pictures of herself and Yao Yao looking close and affectionate. She shoved the phone in the woman’s face.

The woman’s expression turned embarrassed and irritated. She might have fantasized about being Yao Yao’s stepmom, but in reality, all she’d done was pat Yao Yao’s cheek once while buying noodles—she was miles away from achieving that dream.

Shen Muyan finally spoke, her voice cold and cutting.

“Change that nickname. Don’t ever use something like that again.”

The woman squinted at Shen Muyan, noticing her stunning, otherworldly beauty beneath the brim of her cap.

Annoyed, she asked, “And who are you to say that?”

Shen Muyan enunciated each word with deliberate clarity.

“I am Yao Yao’s real mother.”
