Chapter 254: Li Hai's Choice
After the meeting, everyone who was living outside of the Sect was dropped off where they were picked up from. Shen Yu also made sure no one suspected their disappearance, even if it was only for a short while for them.
After that, he brought Lan Ming and Ying Yue to the Pagoda where the Supreme Elder of the Celestial Sword Sect was imprisoned.
Reaching there, he found the Elder tied to a hook with barely any movement from him. It was as if he was already dead, but he could still sense life in him, so it was all fine.
Shen Yu clicked his fingers as Li Hai floated towards him, still tied. Sensing this movement, Li Hai woke up and looked up, only to see Shen Yu sitting on a chair and two women standing behind him.
He recognised one of them, and seeing her subservient attitude, Li Hai instantly guessed Shen Yu's identity. He chuckled and asked:
"So, you're the reason for all this chaos, huh? You don't seem very powerful, but it's not like that lady over there looked stronger than me."
He sighed and asked, "So, what is going to happen to me?"
Shen Yu considered his words for a second before saying, "It depends. We'll need to see how you cooperate with us. It's not like we're here to kill everyone, and from what I'm seeing, you're just a laidback guy following orders."
Li Hai chuckled and said, "What does it matter? I'm not going to betray my family, and that's final. Well, unless you use some hypnosis or anything, so do whatever you want."
Shen Yu sighed and looked inside Li Hai's brain. It was as he had said—this Supreme Elder was a stubborn man, and he wouldn't budge from his decision.
He asked, thinking of something, "What is your Sect like?"
Li Hai grew confused as he said, "Pardon?"
"I mean, what does it do, or how does it manage the western part of the Empire?"
"I honestly don't know. I can tell how the higher-ups work, but not the lower seats. They wouldn't follow every one of our orders. The higher-ups have only one objective, and that is to make the Main Sect stronger."
Li Hai looked at Shen Yu and answered. It was common knowledge anyway, so he didn't think he was telling any secrets.
"The reason all of the Major Sects want to establish their foothold here is to get as many talents as possible and send them to the Main Sects. You see, this place produces good talents because they have to suffer more for resources, and their foundation is strong. Well, not everyone, but many."
Shen Yu nodded and asked, "So, it doesn't matter what happens as long as you can get those talents."
Li Hai nodded. "Yes. The higher-ups, including me, do not really care much about the lives of the Empire and its people. They're just livestock for us, or rather the whole Empire is just a breeding zone for us. That's why so many want to colonise it."
Then, he shifted slightly and asked, "Can you release me? It's hard to talk like this."
Shen Yu clicked his fingers as the rope came undone, then said, "So, basically your Sect is going to be in my way, huh."
Li Hai shrugged. "I don't know what your objective is, but I'm pretty sure the Major Sects would fight for domination. There is no way they would let the Empire slip from their hands, and considering their arrogance, they also wouldn't submit, so make your choice. Do you really want to fight them?"
Shen Yu smirked and said, "You're wrong on that. I have zero interest in fighting them, but they're in my way. And I will kill anyone who gets in my way to achieve my goal."
He had already decided on this path, and he would see it to its end. Killing was a necessity in this world, as there were just too many arrogant people who would stand in his way.
Shen Yu had become a hypocrite, and he accepted that, but that didn't deter him from achieving his goal. Maybe he would be wrong in some aspects, but he didn't care now. Read new chapters at My Virtual Library Empire
All that mattered was to conquer the world and impose his rules on it.
[Sounds like something a Dictator would say.]
'But I won't become that. Well, not completely. I will give everyone free will while imposing some basic rules. I will make the world bend to the way I want it to be.'
Li Hai looked at Shen Yu and scratched his head. "I guess you're not much different from others. They also want to conquer the world and change it to their will."
Shen Yu smiled. "While I can agree on that, there is a major difference between us. They are working towards that goal because they lack a lot of things and want to get the power that comes with being the Rule maker. But I already have those things. I don't strive for it to get something in return."
Li Hai shrugged. "Whatever! If you're going to kill me, just kill me. Or if you want to torture me, then you can do it too. I will never betray my family."
Shen Yu stood up from his seat and said, "You're an honourable man to some extent, so I'll give you two choices. A quick death or you defending humanity from Spiritual Creatures until you die. I'll return your Cultivation too if you choose the second option."
The Elder didn't need to think twice before saying, "Why would I do that? I hate humans, so why would I defend them?"
Shen Yu didn't seem surprised and said, "As you wish then."
He clicked his fingers, and the Elder disappeared from his position. It was unknown where Shen Yu had sent him.
Ying Yue felt something off about Shen Yu's decision and asked, "Master, you killed him?"
Shen Yu waved his hand and answered with a chuckle, "No, I just teleported him to the Hollow Mountains and also gave him his Cultivation back. He can try surviving there if he wants. He can't come back here anyway."
Lan Ming and Ying Yue were speechless, but they also liked this evil nature of Shen Yu.
