Chapter 3: Chapter 3 - At ease
Today was a surprisingly easy day at work and Bahn was a bit scared of this.
Usually, Clark would make a fuss over something and would keep a serious face the whole time.
But all their appointments of the day went so smoothly that he was asked many times if they had replaced Clark for someone else or if he was possessed.
In all his 28 years of living and 18 years of friendship with Clark, Bahn, the Lizardman, had never seen such a sight.
He had a natural smile all the time and a calm temper for the whole morning.
No one in the entertainment industry had ever seen it.
Bahn was starting to consider the second option.
"What's up with you today and what is that?"
He decided to ask when they finally had their last appointment of the morning and went back to the car.
Clark just smiled, a smile he was not used to seeing when they're not at his or Clark's house.
"These two questions will be answered when we get there"
"But where is 'there'?"
"You will see!"
"Puni!"
There it was, the little creature.
Clark introduced it as Dakota, his partner.
It was a strange little thing that all the female staff went crazy when they saw it, giving it all the snacks they could find.
It never left Clark's side and, even when they had to be separated, it always stayed in sight.
James had noticed how Clark looked relaxed the closer he was to it, to the point of falling asleep at some times, and started to wonder why.
And now here they were, in front of a store in a secluded aley.
"Digi… world?"
He was beyond confused, but followed behind as Clark entered.
"Welcome!"
They were received by a childish voice, and Bahn paused with what he saw.
A white and violet creature with a red triangle on its head was floating in the middle of the store.
What made him pause was not the fact that it could talk, but the fact that he didn't recognize the species.
Bahn had memorized the encyclopedias that talked about the creatures of this world they lived in.
But, just like Dakota, he couldn't recognize this creature.
"Hello, I'm Clark and these two are Bahn and Dakota."
"Puni!"
Clark and Dakota were not fazed about the situation as Bahn was.
"Hi! Evo is Evo!"
The little thing introduced itself in a strange way, bowing a little in mid air.
"Evo is going to call Many!"
It then turned and floated somewhere past a door by the counter side.
Clark took the opportunity to speak to him while taking a strange device from his pocket.
"I've got this digivice from this place" He said showing him the device "This thing will give you an egg after you bound it to you and a digimon like Dakota will be born, the digimon will help you with soul contamination and more, that's why I'm acting differently, my soul is being purified by Dakota since he was born yesterday, so it's easier to control my actions now"
Bahn paused for a moment, processing what he had just heard.
He covered his face with a hand.
"...I'm so stupid"
He should have seen it, Gods, he should have noticed.
Clark wasn't one to lash out like this, even as a werewolf, he never would be so moody about everything.
He should have suspected that something was wrong.
And of course he would only act normally at their houses, Daniela and Bahn's brother were a priestess and a priest, their presence alone could help the house to feel better.
What a mess…
He felt a hand on his shoulder, taking his hand out of his face he saw Clark with Dakota in his arms, he had a gentle smile on his face, a smile he hadn't seen in a long time.
"It's not your fault" He said "I myself haven't notice and I'm more sensitive than most"
True, Werepeople were extremely sensitive with their souls, as theirs was more similar to a beast soul then a demi-human soul.
But still…
"Oh don't give me that look!" He said "I'm fine now, and you will be too once you get a digivice!"
Nos that he wasn't expecting.
"What do you-"
"Excuse me?"
All three of them turned to see what seemed to be a demi-human child.
His skin was brown, he had orange hair and a tail twitching around, he was barefoot, revealing the three claws on his feet, and using only pants, anklets, gloves and shoulder pads, his body had a few strange symbols and had big green eyes.
Being dragged by the boy by hand, was a tall human in pure white, they seemed to have just woken up.
It was the kid who spoke first.
"You're the one who came yesterday!" He said with a smile "I couldn't introduce myself back then because of some circumstances, I am Aguni, and it is a pleasure to meet you!"

"So this little thing is healing your soul?"
Dani had just explained to her how things worked and what Makas was.
She was invested, to say the least.
She was a Witch, a being with human appearance but born out of dark magic, so she was extremely susceptible to demonic energy contamination.
Quite ironic, to be honest.
She was born because of a culmination of dark magic used by demons, but she would die if her soul got tainted by demonic energy.
She does have familiars that gave her a similar effect to the contract of a Beast Tamer and their Beasts.
But if she had a familiar capable of purifying the contamination, she would have a much easier time with her magic.
"Do you think that your brother would buy me one of these digivices if I send him the cores?" She asked "Them he can send to me through the Academy"
Students were forbidden from leaving the Academy grounds unless it's important, but they could send and receive things from others outside.
"Of course he would!" Dani said "He might even buy it himself with his own cores if you ask him!"
She controlled a grimace that would form on her face.
Yes, yes he would, but the idea of receiving a favor like this from her brother bothered her.
Asking help from an influential family when she was just a Witch…
"There's no need!" She said "I do have all the cores needed and the money for many packets, I can afford it"
"Ok them" Her friend said "Then send them to my brother after classes!"

Clark was about to say something when his digivice lit up, showing a picture of the kid in front of them.
[Flamon
Level: Hybrid
Type: Wizard
Attribute: Variable]
"!!!"
He looked from the digivice to the kid in front of him with wide eyes
"You're a Digimon!?"
"What!?"
Bahn seemed as surprised as he was, but the kid only smiled.
"That's rights" He said "I'm a digimon, but I must say, after seeing your friend, I can't blame you for thinking I'm a demi-human, I honestly thought he was digimon like me"
As much as the comment amused him, he was more focused on the fact that digimon could look like this.
He had seen Leomon, he might pass for an adult beast folk, but Flamon was a big surprise.
He thought the digimon was a demon child.
And Bahn seemed to think the same.
"How old are you, kid?" he asked.
"Pff"
That made Many snicker, the only sound other than a grunt Clark had seen them make, while the digimon showed an helpless smile.
"Don't call me kid as I am older than you both together" He said.
Bahn and Clark exchange a look, not believing the digimon.
Many stepped up at this moment.
(Digimon don't get old, they can only change forms, but Agni is different from other digimon in the store, he had lived much longer than you can imagine)
Clark raised a brow.
"So he is older than both of us together?" He said.
(He's older than the whole empire together, with different lifespans included)
.
.
.
Clark decided to not pry in that again.
It would be better.
"I came today to get a digivice"
"Two digivices"
He turned to Bahn, who gave him a sheepish smile.
"I want to send one to Dan" he said.
…Fair.
"Two digivices" Clark repeated "And ad six card packets"
The purchase was quick, and they left in time to arrive at their next appointment.
But all eyes now were more in Dakota and Arthur, the Botamon that joined their group and would be seen in the head of a stupidly happy Bahn.
***
A young harpy had just come back to his room from a mentally and physically exhausting day when he saw the box.
His brother usually sends him things he found in missions or souvenirs from different places he visited while acompaining his employer around the Empires.
So he was eager to see what his brother had sent this time.
He dragged himself to his nest, bringing the box with him and used one of his claws.
He frowned.
There was a strange device in the box, along with some packets, a note and a book.
He took the note first, it had a drawing of the device.
[Put it in your heart]
Confused, he did as he was told, taking the device (it was so sadly cold) and putting it on his feathered chest using one of his scaled hands, taking the book with the other.
But, before he could even try opening it, the device shone brightly, the device became warm in his hand.
He took it off of his chest and looked at it, seeing the now active device.
[Digi-egg formation 20%]
It was what he saw on the screen.
As the number started to rise, he began to panic, so he turned his attention to the book, opening it with the help of one of his wings.
He was reading it while watching the number rise, slowly getting calmer as he understood what was happening, so he wasn't surprised when the egg appeared, nor when the light came when the egg cracked.
No, what surprised him was something else.
It was the little creature that came from the egg.
It was small and round, a pure white thing with black eyes, it looked like a white bear plushie.
The moment he saw her, he felt more emotional than ever.
He took her in his arms and soon they were sleeping in his nest, his eyes tainted with tears he didn't notice.

In an office at the top of a tall building, a goblin was seated, a serious and stoic expression on his face as he looked at the capital at the other side of the glass.
He was tired and with a cloudy mind.
He looked at the sky.
And he sighed, waiting for the next person trying to take his position to come by.
