Deviant: No Longer Human

Chapter 659: Lecture on Respecting Women!

"Support? Sounds vague. Care to clarify?"

Zhang Sisi's face darkened. "You know, like preventing you from causing incidents or... I don't know, burning down half the city?"

Wang Xiao chuckled, leaning back lazily. "Ah, so you're more like my personal babysitter than an agent."

"Call it what you want," she muttered, gritting her teeth, "but if babysitting means keeping you from turning this country into a pile of ashes, then yes."

Wang Xiao gave her a mockingly thoughtful look. "Interesting. So, does that babysitting include doing my laundry and cooking my meals? Just curious, for clarity."

Hiss~!

Zhang Sisi shot him a glare, her fists trembling. After a long pause, she finally exhaled sharply and muttered, "Yes... Anything you need. Happy now?"

The words tasted like poison, but what else could she say? That really was her job description: minimize the damage he caused, because with Wang Xiao, there was always damage. If he barged into a female-only space and caused mess—which he would—she had to fix it. If some clueless minister offended him, she'd either have to calm him down or quietly take care of the minister before it spiraled.

And, yes, technically, if he demanded her to do something as ridiculous as laundry, she'd have no choice.

"Wow..." Wang Xiao leaned back, his expression one of mock awe. "That's dedication. I'm impressed."

For a moment, she almost thought it was over. And then—

"Including warming my bed?"

"!!" Her jaw dropped. "Wh-what?!"

He raised his hands, looking as innocent as a fox in a chicken coop. "Relax, I'm just asking! We're having a professional conversation, right? What if the litte dragon near my legs needs... You know... emotional support?"

She froze, her face turning bright red.

"..."

She'd expected something like this. She knew it was inevitable. But expecting it didn't make it any less mortifying. Her mind flashed back to when her superiors assigned her to him—how they avoided eye contact and glossed over the details. It was clear even then: either she'd end up as his toy or his victim.

It hadn't even been a full day, and he was already testing her limits.

"It's... not clarified," she managed to choke out, trying to maintain what little composure she had left.

Wang Xiao tilted his head, his smirk only growing. "Not clarified? Sounds vague. Let's clear it up now, shall we?"

Zhang Sisi inhaled deeply, glaring at him. "Even if I complain, they'll ignore it! They'd just tell me to suck it up and endure!"

The words came out sharper than she intended, her frustration slipping through. But the way Wang Xiao's grin widened made her regret it instantly.

"Endure, huh?" he said, his tone light but teasing. "Don't worry, class leader. I'll make sure your endurance gets a real workout."

Her fists clenched, nails biting into her palms as she glared at him. This man isn't just trouble. He's a walking disaster.

Where is her resignation letter?!

Unfortunately, quitting wasn't an option. She was a mage, and mages were strictly regulated. This job gave her just enough freedom to live something resembling a normal life, unlike the others stuck in government-controlled positions under constant surveillance.

She shut her eyes, mentally bracing herself as she felt his hand move toward her waist. Just think of it like being bitten by a dog... It'll be over quick.

But instead of anything worse, Wang Xiao leaned in close, his breath brushing against her ear as he whispered, his voice low and deliberate.

"You know, class leader... I've always wanted to shove my thing down your throat and see just how deep it would go... Never got the opportunity before."

"!!!"

Her eyes snapped open, her entire body freezing in shock.

Did he just—?!

Her brain short-circuited. Words failed her. Rational thought abandoned her. She could only stare at him, wide-eyed, as the words echoed in her mind.

Wang Xiao leaned back, grinning like he'd just told the joke of the century. "Relax, I'm kidding... Or am I?"

"Damn you!" Zhang Sisi practically exploded, shoving him hard enough to make him rock back. She stumbled to her feet, her face so red it looked like she might combust. "I-I'm done! I'm putting in my resignation!"

She turned and bolted, nearly tripping over herself as she ran back toward the site. No way! No f**king way! This guy isn't human—he's a sadistic bastard wrapped in a pretty face!

Behind her, Wang Xiao burst into laughter, loud and unrestrained.

"Hahaha!"

He sprawled back on the grass, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye. He plucked a blade of grass, tossing it lazily into the air.

_____

"Commander, I really want to resign!"

Zhang Sisi's voice cracked like she was seconds away from tearing her badge apart and stomping on it.

Wan Yang, in the middle of catching his breath after the earlier chaos with Xinyue Zhilan, looked like he was about to combust. "What now?!"

"He—" Zhang Sisi spun around and pointed at Wang Xiao, who, as usual, was sauntering toward them with a smile that screamed trouble. "I can't! I'm not fit for this mission. Immediate resignation. Now!"

Wan Yang's eyebrows twitched. "Now?" His gaze flicked to Wang Xiao, who looked far too smug. "What did he do this time?"

Zhang Sisi's expression was dead serious, as if she'd just survived a wrestling match with a horny dragon. "Everything! I'd rather be locked in a padded room than deal with him!"

Wang Xiao sauntered up, "Oh, come on, class leader. If you're quitting, why not just join me? I could always use a maid who knows how to... handle things."

Zhang Sisi's glare could've melted iron, "In your dreams."

Wan Yang, however, tilted his head thoughtfully, rubbing his chin. "Huh... not a bad idea."

"Commander!?" Zhang Sisi whipped around, scandalized. "Did you not hear me?"

Before Wan Yang could respond, Wang Xiao interjected, raising his hand like a kid in class. "She's not quitting. Resignation denied." He grinned at her, oozing fake sympathy. "Besides, where would you even go? You're stuck with me, babysitter."

Zhang Sisi's jaw dropped, her face darkening. "Who gave you authority over me?!"

Wang Xiao casually threw an arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer like they were old drinking buddies. "*LYou, when you agreed to the job. Didn't read the fine print, did you?" Enjoy more content from My Virtual Library Empire

At that moment, Xinyue Zhilan, fresh from the earlier mess, approached the group with a confused expression. "What's going on here?" she muttered, her eyes darting between the tense Zhang Sisi, the smug Wang Xiao, and the tired Wan Yang.

Before anyone could answer, Wang Xiao gave Zhang Sisi's shoulder a friendly squeeze. "Just a little bonding. Class leader here was thinking of quitting, but we convinced her to stay."

"Bonding?" Xinyue Zhilan muttered, a bit wary as Wang Xiao's grin grew wider. She bit her lip. Why does this feel like a terrible idea?

Wan Yang filled Xinyue Zhilan in with his fabricated backstory about Wang Xiao—a tale of memory loss, undercover missions, and heroism straight out of a low-budget action flick. The kicker? Wang Xiao, her long-lost son, was supposedly a former special security force operative. It was bullshit, but it gave Wang Xiao enough cover to keep flexing without anyone asking too many questions.

As Wang Xiao chuckled to himself, Fu Yuxin—watching from a distance—felt a cold sweat drip down her back. Fighting him earlier was hard enough; now it felt suicidal.

_____

Back at the residence, Xinyue Zhilan's reaction to Zhenxi's existence was… complicated.

She sat gracefully on the couch, legs crossed, her sharp eyes fixed on the little girl who clutched Wang Xiao's sleeve nervously. For a moment, the room was quiet.

Finally, Zhilan leaned back, her lips curving into a faint smile. "So, this is Zhenxi."

"...Yes," Wang Xiao said, watching her cautiously.

Zhilan's gaze softened, just slightly, as she motioned for Zhenxi to come closer. "Come here, little one."

Zhenxi hesitated, glancing at Wang Xiao, who gave her a reassuring nod. Slowly, she approached Zhilan, her small hands fidgeting.

"You're prettier than your father," Zhilan said with a dry chuckle, brushing a stray strand of hair from Zhenxi's face.

Wang Xiao, "..."

Zhenxi blinked, unsure how to respond, but her lips curled into a shy smile.

Zhilan straightened, her expression unreadable as she looked at Wang Xiao. "We'll talk later." Her words made it clear: this isn't over.

Wang Xiao sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Fine. But at least admit she's cute."

Zhilan raised an eyebrow, her cool demeanor unshaken. "She's a Wang. Of course, she's cute."

With that, she rose, her poise immaculate, and walked off with her phone in hand, already dialing her sister Xin Meifang.

Later That Evening

The house settled into a strange rhythm as the days passed. Zhilan didn't make a fuss about Zhenxi's existence; in fact, she seemed oddly… calm.

Xinyue Zhilan didn't bombard Wang Xiao with endless questions. She was too occupied for that. Instead, her occasional sharp glances were more than enough to remind him of the one-hour lecture she had delivered on respecting women.

Yes, one "painful" hour. Wang Xiao had endured her monologue on gender equality, personal boundaries, and basic decency. Not because he cared—no, far from it—but because there was no escaping his mother when she was in full lawyer mode. Her tone was sharp enough to cross-examine a jury, and her arguments were backed by an unshakable confidence that left no room for rebuttal.

And yet, the entire time, Wang Xiao's mind had wandered. Respect women? Sure, he'd respect them—right before figuring out how to make Zhang Sisi's life even more miserable the next time he saw her.

"Are you even listening?" Zhilan had snapped mid-lecture, her piercing gaze cutting through his daydreams.

"Of course, Mom," Wang Xiao had replied, his face the picture of sincerity. "Respect women. Got it. Anything else?"
