Detective Conan: Harem begins with Kisaki Eri

Chapter 27: Ch.027 Kudo Shinichi's Challenge

[~1350 Words]

Having left Eri's law firm, Takuya found himself at a ramen restaurant close to Beika Town.

He left work super late, then got held up at the law firm, and Eri kept him in her office for ages.

Eat first, then go home when he's done. He'd rather not cook at home.

Summer evenings were long, so even though he only got home around seven after eating ramen, it wasn't completely dark.

School was out, and Shinichi finished his club activities before heading home. By chance, he met Dr. Agasa, and they had a chat at his gate.

"That's actually a Porsche 356A. That car is a real classic. I'm surprised to see classic cars like these still around. It's very rare. "

Intrigued, Dr. Agasa carefully studied the Porsche 356A. As a car enthusiast, he owns a classic Volkswagen Beetle.

"This car isn't a classic, y'know. It should be modified or customized. This thing's got a supercar engine, plus it's a slightly larger vehicle. "

Because he lived across the street, Shinichi had seen that Porsche 356A of that Manor long ago.

Being a top detective, Shinichi is incredibly knowledgeable about cars too.

"Really? I thought the engine was just modified, not a large, custom-made one."

Unlike Shinichi, Dr. Agasa's eyesight on these matters wasn't sharp enough for him to realize it.

"It's a custom-built car, larger than your average Porsche 356A, with scaled-up proportions."

Shinichi, still in his adult form and unfamiliar with Gin, might have been terrified if he'd seen Takuya's car; the sight alone would have been enough to send shivers down his spine.

The Porsche's engine hummed to a quiet stop before the imposing iron gate.

Takuya opened the car door and retrieved a large iron key from his pocket. The technology isn't quite advanced enough for a remote to operate the big iron gate, which is a shame.

"Officer Fujiwara?" Shinichi looked shocked. Only after two weeks did he discover that Fujiwara Takuya lived directly across the street.

His greatest rival, a man who haunted his dreams, had cracked several cold cases in half a month; the sheer speed of it was unnerving.

What is an unsolved case? It's a unique, and over the line difficult cases. Numerous cases have lingered far too long, with all clues vanished.

Even Shinichi wasn't entirely certain, but Takuya's three consecutive case successes spoke volumes about his abilities.

Shinichi's desire for a challenge was also spurred by this. He's never been out reasoned, not even by Takuya.

"Officer Fujiwara, are you seriously rich? Can you afford such a big mansion? " Even Dr. Agasa recognized Takuya, who had been in the news lately.

Recognizing Takuya sparked Dr. Agasa's question about police officers' high earnings.

Despite having large courtyards, the sheer scale of Takuya's mansion, its courtyard, a vast expanse of manicured lawns and stately trees dwarfed the mansions of his and Shinichi's.

Not to mention that their own houses cost much less compared to Takuya.

"Being wealthy is common. He's able to ace the Police exam and crack cases quickly. Maybe he is a wealthy noble." Shinichi couldn't care less about these.

Those nobles were loaded, and so was his family.

His main concern is Takuya, his next-door neighbor.

What a fantastic opportunity! He'd always dreamed of testing his wits against Officer Fujiwara, but the opportunity never arose.

Given Officer Fujiwara's status as a rising star in the Metropolitan Police Department, they no longer require his services.

If a case arose, they contacted Takuya immediately; his swift problem-solving skills ensured a rapid resolution. There is no way Inspector Megure would let an outsider interfere.

The savior of the Japanese police? This is an insult to the police, but their inability to respond stems from a lack of necessary skills.

Upon opening the large iron gate, Takuya returned to his car, accelerated rapidly, and drove into the house.

With a strong motor and plush, reclining seats, the improved Porsche 356A offered a comfortable ride.

" Hey, Officer Fujiwara, wait for me! ", Reacting swiftly, Shinichi decided to challenge Takuya, rushing into his courtyard.

"This time, the kid has encountered a worthy opponent." Dr. Agasa shook his head.

He was familiar with Shinichi's thinking. He had a strong desire to compete, especially in reasoning. The thought of losing to anyone fueled his competitive spirit, pushing him to strive harder.

During this time, Shinichi must be incredibly unhappy to have been surpassed by Takuya, but his unhappiness is unfortunately irrelevant given Takuya's superior reasoning skills.

" Officer Fujiwara. "

" What 's up ? "

Takuya didn't even look at Shinichi. Having closed the door behind him, he proceeded to remove a number of documents from his briefcase, each and every one of them being a case file related to his current workload. Lately, his demeanor had become one of intense focus, a carefully constructed facade of seriousness as he delved into the cases.

In actuality, Takuya had already ascertained the identity of the murderer; however, he was unable to reveal his knowledge without risking the possibility of others questioning his credibility and judgment. Could someone who instantly identifies a murderer still be considered human?

Shinichi was so mad, he was trembling. Takuya was actually looking down on him.

His habitual disdain for others has finally caught up with him; today, he is despised by those he'd always treated with contempt (The Police).

No, a complete victory was necessary; he needed to pulverize Takuya's logic, leaving him drowning in despair. Only then will he feel at ease.

"I dare you to a reasoning challenge; do you accept?" Shinichi's voice was sharp with anger. The frustrated look of Shinichi looked as if asking Takuya had slept with Mori Ran, although it was only a matter of time.

" You ... you want to challenge me? Don't be ridiculous. I refuse your challenge. I'm not required to share details of this case with people outside the department, as per police regulations. "

Shinichi grew even angrier. This was humiliating, deeply and utterly humiliating.

Is he a stranger?

He's a hero to the Japanese police, solving countless major cases.

Despite the embarrassment it caused Japanese police—his old partners—he was now looked down upon by the police.

"I'd appreciate it if you'd go away. If you stay, I will have to arrest you for breaking into a private house and attacking a police officer."

Takuya didn't give Kudo any face at all.

With everything else he's doing, is there really time for competition?

The Japanese police now consider him their savior.

He was exhausted after work and a recent meal; he needs to go to bed.

Get the mission reward after he and Eri have a child; review the reward and then decide on next steps.

" You…"

Shinichi got even madder. He was surprised by Takuya's disrespect; the guy wanted him kicked out!

Acting all high and mighty.

He's helped the police tons before, and this is how they repay him?

'You don't have to be nice, but show him some respect.' Takuya's ready to boot him out.

"Leave now, or you're going to jail."

Officer Fujiwara reached for his handcuffs and walked over to Shinichi. 'This kid needs a spanking. Now that I've got time, let's teach him a lesson.'

"Just you wait, I'll never lose to you! I'll crack the next case before you do." Shinichi made a comment and dashed off. He was really worried Takuya would catch him.

A sneer twisted Takuya's lips as he looked at Shinichi, his dismissive gaze communicating his complete disregard for Shinichi's words.

Despite Shinichi's immense power, can he truly rival the iconic hat of Sherlock Holmes?

Achieving a 100% case solve rate requires meticulous attention to detail and relentless dedication, making it far from a trivial task. Shinichi is still too young.

 [That's all for now]
