Chapter Fifteen; Respite
Jazmel and his party had found a place to rest before moving on. A small inn that let them rent for the night for only 5X GOLD COINS for the night. They each paid and then were brought to separate rooms, still all on the same floor but apart. Jazmel sighed, he was sitting in a deep bowl bath and was resting. He looked over his stats, he had not studied them in a while.

The Wukong peach, filled with Mana had tripled his Mana. The system had not told him, it would only triple the amount he currently had and not the entirety but that was still more than he had previously had. Now his Mana was the highest bar he had and with the addition of his new skill, he would need the extra Mana.
He smiled to himself; the swords were perfect for him. He had even gone to carrying one on his belt rather than leaving them both in his storage space. Majime and its blue sheath rested on a chair in the bathroom while he rested. The inn was quiet, and Jazmel had not seen any other guests, but within the labyrinth. He wanted to make sure he took his own security serious.
He had been sitting in the bath for almost an hour, but now he was tired of the heat. He got out, dried off and got dressed quickly. As soon as he had tied his last boot on. His door knocked lightly, he went to open it and through the door he could see the purple Mana that seemed to sprout from within her.
It was Sadé.
He opened the door, and she smiled at him. She had taken the chance to shower or bathe too, her hair still damp but she was dressed. She had changed her clothes, and she was now wearing a black top and jacket. But the same combats and boots as before.
“May I come in?” she asked, and he beckoned her in.
“How are you? Rested?” She asked, and Jazmel nodded, feeling awkward at the small talk.
“Is something wrong?” He asked, feeling the mood, she nodded and then shrugged.
“I wanted to talk to you about this.” She beckoned and in a moment a tail formed. Her eyes had not changed but her Mana changed sharply. From purple to a pale blue, like fire. He took a step back, startled but calmed down before her.
“The kitsune tail.” He questioned and she nodded.
“As you know, I bought it and I have now integrated it. It has enhanced my usage of fire and added 500 to my Mana count!” she told him, and he marvelled at her. At just Seeker tier I, her Mana was double his own. That was high.
“Why did you want to speak to me about it?” he asked, confused.
“Well, I am an elf. A half elf and well I should not be able to use fire, but I can and that is considered an omen for elves.” She told him and he looked at her dumbfounded.
“But you didn’t pick to be able to use fire?” he argued, and she looked at him before hunching over in laughter, at first, he just watched her. But then a smile formed, and it became a grin, and he laughed a little too.
“I got a plot when I saw the tail.” She confessed and he nodded, quite curious.
“Sometimes you shock me how little you know about the labyrinth but then it makes me happy. Happy because you have no prejudice, and it makes me happy that you are forming organically in the labyrinth.” She confessed and he grew warm with admiration.
“Elves are created from nature. We are literally connected to the woods that we are born in and till we return to the ground we are proof that nature and the trees still have power. Me being able to use fire, instead of wind or earth Mana is an ill omen to my people. Especially my grandmother.” She told him, sitting on the edge of his bed and hugging her legs.
“What was the plot?” he asked after a while, leaving her in her thoughts for a while.
“To walk the path of a kitsune, I have to gather five tails.” She said and he nodded, knowing that kitsune have nine tails. Jazmel did not say anything for a moment, but he settled down beside her just for comfort.
“I think since I have entered the labyrinth. Everyone has spoken about destinies and fates. Selling the dreams that the labyrinth allows those with the will, to change their fate as they see fit. Well, you are good and if you can use fire as an elf. Maybe the trees need a flame for something.” He surmised and watched her face become soft and her eyes well up. But she bit back the tears and smiled.
“Thank you. Thank you for saying that, Jazmel.” She laid back across his bed and closed her eyes. They sat like that for a while and neither said anything. Enjoying the small peace, they were sharing.
