Chapter 26: Chapter 26: The Cursed Mirror

Raven hummed as he was writing a formula for a new spell he thought of during the winter break. He had originally been desiring a spell that would work as a transfiguration-charm-rune using mix.

He could find one that suited his needs. Sure he could achieve the same results with three different spells, but he'd rather do it once instead of three times.

So he began crafting a new spell that would achieve the desired results. The spell in itself wasn't to hard to figure out the desire of it, alongside the name.

Hybrida Mutatio Summa

Hybrid Change Core, is the translation in English. It's a hybrid changing spell with the core of three different spells. He'd have it done wandlessly soon, plus chantless. If he couldn't, he'd remake the spell till he could do so.

The spell itself though, would transfigure an item into the desired form, charm it with basic automation in the desired form, and a few rune clusters to enhance the transfiguration. It was a battle spell he wanted.

It would also let him save energy by using one spell instead of three different ones. Now if he could figure out the correct numerical pattern here he wanted to use.

000010001/3784853

He was also considering scrapping that part and inserting a different formula of numbers.

10048521001/395826

It was a bit like coding, but sticking strictly to numbers instead of adding in phrases and symbols to help format it easier.

"No, either of those would cause the charm to happen first. Ugh, guess I'll need to start again." He complained as he cleaned the large whiteboard clean and started writing again on it.

"Ok, focus' are weird." Raven declared to himself annoyed. He had decided he wanted to create his own enhanced focus. His own personal weapon. He only imitated others and copied their forms and skill. The clocktower enforcers he trained with hated him for it.

"Ok, I will need supernatural materials for sure. Hm, perhaps a metal base material for integrity. What material to use as a base though? Iron? No, to flimsy and weird feeling. Silver? No, to spiritual in nature. Gold? Hm, perhaps gold infused with another material." Raven mused before he thought and grinned as he reached into his pouch and pulled out a metal bar he got last year from the same mysterious person.

Holding it in his hand, he channeling his magic through it and grinned when he felt it responding almost perfectly. Grabbing a bar of gold he just happened to have, forged with magic into its shape, he held both together and smiled at the resonance he got from both.

"Ok, time to start making some more of this." He grinned as he began analyzing it. He couldn't figure out how it was made, it was like the bar just came into existence a day before he got it. He still could recreate it with the denial of nothingness though.

"Now I need to have Lori get someone to melt and mix them together to get the alloy. What to call it though? Hm, perhaps just something simple like Ranron Alloy? Hm, I'll shelve that for now, perhaps I'll just leave it nameless." He mused as he drafted a letter to Lori to send him the information on the best person to use to make the alloy.

"I supposed figuring out the rune matrix's would be best to do as well. As well as the desired shape of my focus. Perhaps I can make it so it's form can become what I desire? A staff/spear. Plus maybe an inactive form that can become like a wristband, or something easy to reach. Yes, I supposed that's best. For now, guess I'll focus on designing the forms." He decided and created a sketch to start drawing.

He added name to the sketchbook.

Raven walked through the halls of Hogwarts, he liked to do this at times to relax his mind, though he was thankful the headache from glancing at that blasted cloak had gone away, but it was still a minor migraine that potions did not help relieve.

With a hum, he ducked into a random room, and blinked as he noticed the form of Rose sitting in front of a mirror. He casually walked up to stand behind her silently and stared wide eye at the mirror.

Looking back was an older him, surrounded by his friends. A giant open field with a large feast. Everyone chatting happily. Yet, the thing that drew him in the most was the form of an older woman smiling happily as she just listened to him yap away about anything and everything without a care, just happy to listen.

"This mirror is dangerous. Showing the hearts desires." Raven muttered shocking Rose who almost snapped her neck turning around and up at him.

"Well said Raven. This mirror has led many astray. To stare at their desires and forever be trapped longing for it. To die not achieving their desires." Albus said as he faded in from the back under a spell.

"I, I need to go." Raven said feeling sick in the presence of the mirror. Also the utter sadness and rage flowing through him not helping. He swore he heard a scant few whispers as he rushed out the room, but he wrote it off as Albus and Rose talking more.

A week later, Raven feeling much better stared at the red stone in his hand. He had a magic circle floating around it, his eyes bare to the world, and structural analysis going at full strength.

"Now reveal to me your secrets." Raven grinned as activated the spells all at once, and then in that moment he understood.

The stone was a generator. A mash of souls turned into a perpetual machine capable of generating mana over time without absorbing ambient mana, created through the infinite energy of souls so long as they live.

It only had two abilities. The elixer of life, the physical form of ether, mana given a purer form with a purpose. To age the body back a bit and halt aging for a while, as well as purify the body. The second was to transmute items without a ritual circle, more specifically aligned to gold.

Raven shoved the stone into his pouch. He would have to experiment with it later, for now he tried to forget the screams he heard from the creation of the stone.

Nicolas Flamel must have been one hell of a magus to create such a stone. He could see the magus formulas on the history of it, but pieces of a wizard, so that implied Nicholas Flamel had magical circuits and a wizard core.

How interesting.

He'd like to meet the man one day. He must have a ton of stories about history. Raven liked history.

"I supposed looking at that damned cloak at least helped with something. Damned headache still here though." Raven complained as he grabbed another sucker as he held a hand up for a beautiful owl to land on.

Lori had sent him the details of his future alloy maker.
