Chapter 30: Unexpected x Outsider
"Colonel Takizawa, these are the things you need to do here. This is the file for your reference."
Inside the Marine base, Ito, Zavia's former aide, was holding a file and explaining the tasks to the newly appointed Takizawa.
"Hmm, I understand. You can leave now." Taking the file, Takizawa nodded and signaled for Ito to withdraw.
Ito saluted and left the office, leaving Takizawa alone.
...
To the east of Norris Island, a naval ship was sailing.
On the ship, Marine figures were constantly running back and forth - some were moving crates, some were organizing cargo, and some were cleaning. Anyway, no one was idle.
At the bow of the ship, on the gun deck, Zavia was sitting cross-legged. The sea breeze gently ruffled the small tuft of white hair on his forehead, which felt very refreshing.
Zavia looked ahead, his expression slightly excited, as he was about to head to the Grand Line.
After being in this world for so long, Zavia was finally going to the Grand Line. To be honest, if it weren't for his identity as a Marine, he would have cheered loudly.
"Rear Admiral Zavia, all the preparations are complete."
Ten minutes later, a Marine subordinate ran to the bow, saluted Zavia respectfully, and said this.
"I know, you can go on patrol now."
In response, Zavia just acknowledged it verbally and dismissed him, continuing to gaze at the vast blue ocean ahead. A few seagulls flew by, with one or two landing on the mast of Zavia's naval ship, showing no signs of fear.
After the Marine left, Zavia lay idly on the gun deck, staring at the blue sky.
"Tsk, so boring. Although I'm somewhat happy to be heading to the Grand Line, the thought of going through the Calm Belt makes me lose interest."
Although Zavia felt excited about going to the Grand Line, the idea of going as a Marine, not a pirate, made him a little depressed.
The reason was that he wanted to see the magnificent Reverse Mountain from the original story, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible. Even if it was possible, the Marines generally wouldn't go through that trouble.
The Calm Belt is a strip of sea located on both sides of the Grand Line. The Calm Belt is inhabited by a large number of Sea Kings, and with no wind, ships entering it would only face death.
However, the naval ship Zavia was on was a Marine warship, which did not have this concern.
First, Marine warships have built-in propulsion systems, similar to the Thousand Sunny's Coup de Burst system, converting the ship into a paddle steamer type, solving the problem of no wind.
Second, there was the issue of Sea Kings. Generally, Marine warships have a Sea Prism Stone installed on the bottom, which makes the Marine ships less "noticeable" to Sea Kings.
Of course, the possibility of being discovered could not be ruled out, just like in the original story during the Marineford War when the Flying Squirrel Squad went to find Hancock. Due to staying on the sea surface for too long, they were discovered by a Sea King.
So the conclusion was that as long as they did not stay in the Calm Belt for too long, the risk of being discovered by Sea Kings could be avoided.
"Hmm, what should I do? Although I can deal with Sea Kings, the premise is that they can't be too massive. If it's like the one the Flying Squirrel Squad encountered in the original story, it's fine, but if it's one of those..."
Taking a cake out of his spatial bag, Zavia ate it while pondering the matter of the Calm Belt. By the way, the inside of the spatial bag was in a state of frozen time, the principle of which was unknown, not even understood by Zavia himself.
"Rear Admiral Zavia, a pirate ship has been spotted ahead!"
Just as Zavia was contemplating the issue, a Marine subordinate ran over, saluted Zavia, and reported.
"Huh? Pirates? Let me see..."
Hearing about pirates, a glint flashed in Zavia's eyes. He swallowed the cake in his hand in one bite, then stood up and gazed ahead.
"Hmm, those guys seem to be celebrating something. Interesting, approach them."
Seeing the rough situation on the pirate ship, Zavia let out a cold laugh and ordered the naval ship to approach.
(Since I've encountered them, don't blame me. If I let you go, it would affect my reputation.)
...
1,000 meters from Zavia's position, a medium-sized ship with a triangular sail was sailing.
This was a triangular sail ship, one of the common ships in the pirate world, and also one of the most commonly used ships for new pirates.
At this moment, the pirate flag on the top of the triangular sail ship was fluttering in the wind. Below the flag, a group of burly men were gathered in celebration.
"Hahaha, this is the first major accomplishment since we formed our pirate crew! Everyone, drink and eat as much as you want!"
Under the main mast, a man with his clothes open, revealing a large beard, was holding a wooden mug and looked extremely excited.
"Oh!! Thank you, Captain!!"
In front of the man, a large group of people were also holding wooden mugs, shouting excitedly.
"Huh? What's that? Boss, there's a naval ship approaching from our east!"
At the lookout position on top of the mast, a pirate wearing a headscarf was holding a telescope, shouting down.
"Huh? A naval ship? Who is it?"
Hearing his subordinate, the pirate leader was surprised and quickly asked which Navy officer it was.
"Let me see... Boss, I don't recognize them. They must be new Marines."
After taking another look, the pirate subordinate realized he didn't recognize this Marine and assumed he was newly appointed.
"Newcomers? Hmm, judging by this route, they're probably newly assigned rookies. Boys! Let's kill them today!"
After pondering his subordinate's words, the pirate leader grabbed a cutlass by his side and ordered his crew.
"Oh!!!!"
"Sail towards them!"
...
"Huh? Rear Admiral Zavia, it seems like... they're coming this way."
At the bow, a Marine next to Zavia squinted his eyes, watching the approaching pirate ship. He had a feeling they were heading towards them.
"It's not 'seems like', they are coming this way. Since they're coming, stop the ship. You all wait here, I'll be right back."
The Yamato Blade appeared in Zavia's hand. He stood on the gun deck, gauging the approximate distance between the pirate ship and the naval ship.
800, 600, 500, 400...
Suddenly, Zavia opened his eyes, and after estimating the distance to be about 400 meters, there was a loud explosion.
Zavia was flying across the sea surface.
"Huh? What's that!?"
"Looks like a person?"
"Impossible, how can a person..."
On the other side, the pirates saw Zavia flying over the sea surface. The initially blurry figure of Zavia gradually became clear to everyone, leaving them gaping in shock.
(Hmph, just as I thought, rookie pirates.)
After the explosive burst ended, Zavia changed from flying to air-walking - the Air Step technique.
When he was about the same distance away, the Yamato Blade in Zavia's hand was rapidly unsheathed, and he slashed horizontally, creating a blue spatial rift in front of him.
Zavia directly entered the spatial rift and disappeared from everyone's sight. 0.73 seconds later, another blue rift appeared in the central part of the pirate ship, and Zavia walked out from it.
"Who are you, guy?!"
Two seconds after Zavia emerged from the rift, the others finally realized that Zavia was already on their pirate ship, and they quickly aimed their weapons at him.
"Who am I? An interesting question. Isn't it obvious?"
In response to their question, Zavia let out a cold laugh and slightly opened his hands.
"We know you're a Marine, but we're asking for your name!"
Suddenly, from behind the group of pirates, a man over 2.2 meters tall walked out, holding a cutlass and dressed in standard pirate captain attire. He seemed to be the captain of this ship.
"My name? Then let me tell you, my name is... Urizen!"
"..."
Poof!
The moment Zavia answered the pirate captain's question, he disappeared from everyone's sight.
His sword was unsheathed, and a silver-white blade flashed, causing a head with a hint of arrogance and confusion to fly up.
"...!!!!"
1.97 seconds later, the pirate captain's subordinates finally reacted - their boss had been instantly killed, without any suspense.
Thud!
Their feet knelt on the deck, the body fell, and fresh red blood dyed the ship's deck.
Zavia swung the Yamato Blade, flicking the blood off the blade onto a nearby mast.
"Mon... Monster!!!"
"Ah!!!!"
"..."
The reacting pirates let out horrified shouts, with looks of fear on everyone's faces, staring at Zavia as if they had seen a demon from hell, and began to scatter and flee in all directions.
But Zavia wouldn't let them escape. The sound of breaking air rang out as Zavia disappeared from everyone's sight again. The next moment, tragic sounds echoed throughout the entire ship.
...
30 seconds later, Zavia was sitting on the stairs, using a cloth to wipe the Yamato Blade. Although he didn't love his weapon as much as other swordsmen, he had a special affection for the Yamato Blade.
Zavia looked out at the sea, where a small boat was now sailing away into the distance. Those were the "survivors" of the pirates.
Without paying them any attention, Zavia took out a Den Den Mushi from his pocket and notified his subordinates to bring the naval ship over.
Less than ten minutes later, a naval ship approached from the side, with many Marines standing on the edges.
"So this is Rear Admiral Zavia's true power?!"
Among them were a few new Marines, and upon witnessing this scene, they held back their nausea and turned their gaze towards Zavia, who was sitting on the stairs.
"Hey, you guys come over here quickly. There are still people inside."
After wiping the Yamato Blade, Zavia sheathed it, then knocked on the deck with the sheathed blade and called out to the Marines.
"Understood!"
...
Watching the Marines start moving, Zavia didn't bother to manage them.
He turned his gaze towards the door leading down to the deck below, his expression serious.
"This aura... doesn't seem to be from the pirate world."
