Chapter 3: Glorious Death and Coastline
"Hey hey hey, you can't be serious? This is how it starts."
Zavia looked at the giant lion standing there, 5 stories high, with a sense of helplessness spreading in his heart.
(How is this going to work?! It starts with something that looks like a boss! In novels aren't there all kinds of leveling up and benefits at the start? And the opponents are weak, how did I get something so strong here?)
"Roar--!!"
Perhaps sensing Zavia's helplessness, or perhaps thinking Zavia was afraid, the giant lion let out a huge roar, trying to intimidate Zavia.
(...Oh well, forget about complaining, I'd better think about how to get through this.)
Zavia scratched his cheek and his dead fish eyes gradually became sharp. He placed his hand on the hilt of his sword, taking a stance to draw his sword.
"Roar~"
Seeing Zavia take this stance, the giant lion instantly entered battle mode, its center of gravity slightly lowered, baring its fangs at the corners of its mouth, its paws fully extended.
"It's got some intelligence, looks like I've come to an extraordinary world, I wonder which world it is."
Seeing the giant lion's actions, Zavia became interested. Animals with giant bodies and a certain degree of intelligence, this world was really interesting.
"Alright, come on! Let's have an exciting battle! And let me see how strong Vergil really is in passing."
Zavia taunted the lion. The lion, provoked by his taunt, let out a loud roar and leapt straight at him.
Zavia had an evil smile at the corner of his mouth. He gripped the hilt tightly, his feet braced slightly. Just as the lion was about to reach Zavia, there was a swoosh, the air pressure dispersed, and he disappeared from his original spot.
The lion landed on the ground, stirring up a large cloud of dust. Its eyes looked behind it, its pupils slightly widened, as Zavia appeared behind it, slowly sheathing his sword.
Puchi!
Blood splattered as the lion looked at its right paw in shock. There was a full 5 centimeter deep wound on it.
Zavia looked at his handiwork, his brows slightly furrowed.
(This guy, it dodged!)
That's right, this lion had dodged Zavia's slash. Although the movement was very subtle, it did indeed dodge it. Just as the Yamato was about to slash its entire right paw, it moved slightly, causing the slash to miss.
(Looks like this world is a little more interesting than I thought. Hmm, let me narrow it down, hmm, the chances of One Piece and Dragon Ball seem higher at the moment.)
After some quick thinking, Zavia narrowed down all the possibilities he could think of, and finally found that One Piece or Dragon Ball was more in line with the current situation.
After all, not every world has animals this huge, not to mention they have some intelligence too.
"Most likely One Piece. After all, that Dragon Ball place, how do I put it..." Zavia couldn't think of a proper word to describe the Dragon Ball world.
(Oh well, although I've concluded it's the One Piece world, it's not necessarily right either. I still need to verify it a bit. If it's true, then Red Dog and Blackbeard, I definitely won't let you off easy!)
Looking at the giant lion before him, Zavia's smile gradually became twisted. Because if it was really as he thought, then Red Dog and Blackbeard would definitely not have a good ending.
Feeling a bit weird being stared at by Zavia, the giant lion let out a roar at him. It didn't like being looked at like this by a human, this lowly species.
"Hehehehe, did I scare you? I'm really sorry about that. I just thought of something very interesting, but don't worry, you'll die soon."
Zavia was brought back by the roar. Covering his face with his spread out five fingers, he let out a cold laugh. He looked just like a certain madman next door.
Perhaps it was scared by Zavia's words, or perhaps due to some other factors, in the lion's eyes, Zavia's appearance gradually became more and more demonic.
"Well then, the game should be over too. Thanks for dragging it out so long, I just needed to get used to this new body. I have to say, this power is really strong, only taking 2 minutes to get used to a body."
Zavia brushed his hair back again, also known as hair gel hand delivery. Then his blue eyes gradually turned cold.
The reason he stood there chatting with the giant lion for so long was because he found that he was gradually getting used to this new body. This move came from one of his favorite characters in Overlord, the supreme being he worshipped: The King of the Dead—Ainz Ooal Gown!
"Alright, let me try out the real Vergil in action, no longer with a keyboard, but manipulating him directly with my own hands!"
Zavia let out a cold laugh. In his eyes, this giant lion was nothing more than a meat paste that could be cut apart.
Lowering his center of gravity, gripping the hilt, there was a swoosh. In an instant, Zavia disappeared from the lion's sight, and all this was done in 0.12 seconds!
Clang! Puchi!
The sound of the sword rang out, and a glittering white sword light could be seen flashing through the air, followed by blood splattering and a paw flying through mid air.
Zavia reappeared behind the giant lion, only this time he was kneeling on one knee, facing the lion. His Yamato lay horizontally in his hand as he slowly sheathed it back into the scabbard.
'Flash Step - Iai'
"Roar--!!!"
1.26 seconds later, the giant lion reacted belatedly, letting out a painful roar. Then came another angry roar of intimidation. Its eyes changed from shocked and pained to bloodshot. All its fangs were bared as it let out a low roar. It was furious!
"Roar roar! A beast's final whimper? Then come! I'll let you die happily!" Zavia mimicked the tone of a certain Mr. D next door. Then he placed his hand on the hilt again.
"Roar--!!"
The giant lion leapt up with its remaining left paw fully extended. Its huge and sharp claws seemed to be able to tear apart space itself.
As it leapt, the ground shook slightly, showing the lion's leap wasn't weak at all. It also showed just how furious it was at this moment! It was a lion! The king of beasts! How could it possibly be humiliated like this by a mere human, this lowly species! Watch as this king bites you to death!
"What an interesting lion, but after all, just a beast. Sayonara dattebayo."
Lowering his center of gravity, body leaning forward, there was a swoosh as dust swirled up from the ground.
Clang! Clang!
The slashes flashed through the air, across the giant lion's body. Blood droplets danced through the air as the Yamato continuously slashed across the giant body. With each slash, another bloody wound appeared.
1.48 seconds later, Zavia reappeared behind the lion, stepping on the ground, stirring up a little dust. He swung the Yamato in his hand, flicking off the blood on the blade.
The snow-white blade shone dazzlingly under the golden sunshine, reflecting blades of light. Zavia's expressionless face turned, rotating the Yamato in his hand before slowly sheathing it.
Behind him, bloody wounds appeared on the giant lion's body in an order that seemed deliberately designed. With each wound, fresh blood poured out.
1.69 seconds later, the giant lion fell from its frozen state in midair. Its giant body stirred up large clouds of dust, accompanied by great air pressure that sent Zavia's blue coat and white hair dancing.
Zavia turned around, his blue eyes fixed on the lion. His face was expressionless, but there was a strange emotion that could be simply described as "tearful"! (Dog head)
"I didn't expect that not only did I inherit Vergil's appearance and body, but also his personality during battles. It's really fast, ruthless and accurate."
Zavia walked to the lion and examined it carefully. Well, nothing too surprising, just an ordinary lion, albeit with some intelligence and giant size.
"This could be bad. If I keep going like this in the future and really become as cold and heartless to humans as V, what am I going to do? I don't want to encounter Ace and watch him die without helping!"
Zavia chopped off some meat from the giant lion's body, then used the spatial ability he just learned to make a mini spatial bag and threw the meat inside before leaving this place, muttering to himself.
Mini spatial bag, this was the first skill Zavia wanted after discovering he had spatial abilities. Because in his previous life when he read those martial arts novels or transmigration comics, he would often see the protagonist have some kind of interspatial ring or spatial compression magic.
This thing was just like its name, used to store things. Hey, don't think it's useless just for storing things. If used well, it might even be able to pick up girls!
With this thought, Zavia couldn't help revealing a faint smile at the corner of his mouth. You might think it was a pig face? No no no, that was V's smile. No matter how he smiled, it was a cold smile.
Walking in this forest full of trees, Zavia observed the surrounding terrain and features to see if there was anything that could identify where he was.
After all, concluding so decisively that it was the One Piece world was still a bit reckless. Although Zavia guessed it was eighty to ninety percent likely, there was still that ten percent chance it wasn't. Anything could happen.
Zavia wasn't a confident person. He barely had any so-called "friends" in reality. He didn't have any so-called "best friends" or siblings from childhood till now.
He had always been alone, taking care of everything himself, alone. At least before his mother died, he had his mother's company.
At school, he also rarely spoke. Because whenever he thought of some memes from the 2D world he would reveal a silly smile, causing those around him to wonder if he had some mental illness.
For Zavia, blind confidence wasn't a good thing. Even if he guessed that conclusion, he still had to verify it. After all, that conclusion was just guessed. If he wanted to know if it was that conclusion, he could only put it to the test.
After walking for about 10 minutes, he arrived at a beach. The sand on the ground was like gold, shining as if it could glow under the sunlight.
On the other side, waves crashed onto the shore one after another, full of life.
"Where is this place?"
