Demon Slayer Virgil [Isekai One Piece]

Chapter 10: Boredom Before School Starts

"Hoo, I didn't expect to see her here."

Zavia's eyes narrowed as he looked at the figure moving around on the parade grounds below the window.

The figure had smooth, wavy sea-blue hair. There was an X-shaped scar on her right leg and a blue cloak fluttered in the wind.

"Hm? Oh, that's Ain. She's one of Zephyr's two most beloved disciples!"

Upon hearing Zavia's murmurs, Robbie next to him also became engrossed gazing at the figure below.

Zavia paid no attention to Robbie. Of course he knew this was Ain. What surprised Zavia was that she would appear here. After all, Ain didn't have any naval ranks. She would only be completely loyal to Zephyr.

However, Zavia's goal wasn't to find Ain to open the Crystal Palace. Although when he first realized he transmigrated, Zavia did consider opening one. But after arriving here and thinking it over carefully, he gave up on the idea.

Firstly this was the Pirate World. It would be fine in Grand Line but if he wanted to go to the New World, that place was filled with powerful beings. Just dealing with them would give Zavia a headache, let alone finding the time to manage his Crystal Palace.

Secondly, the risks were too great opening a Crystal Palace in the Pirate World. After all, this world could be considered a high-level world. If he really had to choose, Zavia would rather open Crystal Palaces in some more everyday worlds. Of course not strictly everyday worlds, Battle Worlds like The Gamer would be great too.

The person he wanted to contact wasn't Ain, but her teacher - Zephyr!

Zephyr, what kind of person was he? Aside from those sorrowful matters, Zephyr was an exceptional instructor. Many Marine students dreamed of becoming Zephyr's disciple.

After all, 3 of his students had become Marine Admirals under Zephyr's guidance! How could others not dream of becoming Zephyr's disciples?

Zavia himself felt this way too. He wanted Zephyr to teach him Haki cultivation methods. With Garp's "violent" teaching methods and the aid of Legacy powers, Zavia completely mastered the Six Powers in just a week.

But to be honest, Zavia found Garp's teaching methods somewhat unbearable. He really didn't want to recall the specific process, but fortunately the result was mastery over the Six Powers, so that week of suffering wasn't wasted.

(But if I just go ask Zephyr to take me as a disciple, he definitely won't rashly accept... Gotta think of a way.)

Thus, Zavia contemplated on how to gain Zephyr's trust for the latter to unconditionally accept him as a disciple.

"What a pity. She looks so pretty yet went through such tragic matters."

At this time, Robbie next to him couldn't help but complain as he looked at Ain below. It went without saying that Robbie was referring to the incident from 4 years ago which Zephyr greatly regretted, leading him to sever an arm because of it.

"Yes, too pitiable." The skinny youth behind also revealed a sympathetic expression.

"Oh right, speaking of Admiral Zephyr, I heard there'll be some trial in a month that the winner becomes Zephyr's disciple!" Suddenly, as if recalling something, Robbie clapped and shouted.

Upon hearing Robbie's words, Zavia who had been pondering stopped and revealed a somewhat shocked expression.

No way...

"Hey, Robbie."

"What's up?"

"What did you mean just now about the trial and discipleship?"

"Huh? Zavia, you didn't know? Then let me explain! Cough cough, this so-called trial can also be seen as a competition officially held to select talents. The victor can obtain a Captain rank and become Admiral Zephyr's disciple, receiving his personal guidance!"

Robbie explained the trial to Zavia very excitedly. From the way he spoke, it was like he had participated and emerged victorious before. But Zavia didn't care about that at all.

At this time, Zavia was somewhat excited internally.

(It really is as I thought! My luck is just too good. I was just wondering how to become Zephyr's disciple and this chance comes so quickly.)

Thinking this, a smile couldn't help but emerge on Zavia's face. But due to Vergil's influence, no matter how you looked at it, it seemed a cold smile.

"After talking for so long I still haven't introduced our dorm mates to you. This skinny one is Terry Boot. He dreams of becoming a Marine Colonel in the future."

After so long, Robbie finally recalled he had to introduce the dorm occupants to Zavia. Zavia just helplessly glanced at him.

"Then this one here is Chris Tozereth. He's a noble who dreams of saving impoverished people in the future." Next, Robbie pointed towards the spectacled youth - Chris. Chris adjusted his glasses with a finger and gave a slight nod.

"Lastly there's me, Robbie Rufus! I'm the boss of this dorm. My dream is to become a master swordsman!"

After introducing the other two, Robbie once again introduced himself. He seemed very excited.

"I see... I'm Zavia. No special dreams, just want to get stronger for now." Feeling quite speechless, Zavia still tidied his clothes and introduced himself to show basic manners.

"Then Zavia, welcome to become the last member of Dorm 233! This is your uniform. We'll be training together starting tomorrow!" Holding the Marine uniform that came from who knows where, Robbie spoke excitedly.

After taking the uniform, Zavia just glanced at it a few times before tossing it onto his bed and saying "Oh, I've got something to do" before leaving the dorm.

Originally Robbie wanted to follow Zavia to "help" familiarize him with the place.

But how could Zavia not understand his little thoughts? He just wanted to skip training like many students do under the nice-sounding pretext of being helpful.

Thus Zavia rejected him and got Robbie to scram, leaving Robbie there crying to himself.

Exiting the dorms, Zavia didn't hesitate at all to dash straight for the parade grounds. Seeing this, Bogard followed behind to ensure Zavia didn't get into any trouble on his first day.

Along the way they passed many Marines training, either jogging, lifting dumbbells, doing pull-ups and other basic exercises.

Of course some were also doing things unlike the others. For example the Marines to Zavia's right were doing tests of some kind, though the test contents were fundamentally the same.

Arriving at the edge of the parade grounds, Zavia heard loud roars.

"What's wrong, you guys not eaten yet?! Give it your all! What would happen if you met pirates out at sea with your pathetic state! Run faster!"

At the edge of the parade grounds, a Marine with Lieutenant insignia on his uniform glared at the jogging Marines with a "hate iron for not becoming steel" expression.

(Tsk tsk, no kidding around here. Will I have to suffer this treatment too in the future? How scary.)

Seeing this, Zavia couldn't help but silently curse to himself.

"You! Which class are you from?! Got nothing better to do than laze around?!"

Suddenly, the lieutenant noticed Zavia behind and roared at him after turning his head.

As the instructor for these Marines, seeing someone so free would naturally anger him. Zavia understood this, but!

Why roar so loudly!!?? Can't you be more polite!!??

"I'm new here. I'm Zavia and don't know which class I'm in yet."

Feeling somewhat unhappy yet not revealing it, Zavia politely replied while also giving a military salute. After all this was the Navy's territory.

"New? Hmm... wait, you said your name's Zavia? You're that rookie Vice Admiral Garp recommended right?" The lieutenant paused for a bit before lowering his head in thought. Then as if recalling something, he asked Zavia.

"Uh... yeah, what about it?" Zavia revealed a confused expression. Huh? Got a problem with me being recommended?

"Humph, I see. Since you just got here, take it easy for today. You'll have tons of training starting tomorrow." The lieutenant suddenly revealed a cold smile. He "kindly" reminded Zavia, but for some reason his words sounded off to Zavia.

"Thanks for the kind reminder, Sir. I'll be taking my leave then."

Since the other wasn't giving him any face, Zavia naturally wouldn't bother either. He politely saluted before leaving the parade grounds. And right as Zavia turned away, the lieutenant revealed an extremely disdainful expression.

Irritated, irritated, irritated! But forget it.

While walking, Zavia felt quite unhappy with that instructor's attitude from before. But he quickly buried those feelings not long after. Doesn't matter. Just you wait, vengeance has no deadline!

"Bogard, how's your swordsmanship?" With nothing to do, Zavia casually chatted up Bogard while walking.

"..." But Bogard straight up ignored him, quietly following behind. Zavia felt it was a bit boring.

After strolling around here, familiarizing himself with the general layout, Zavia raised his head to glance at the sky. Damn it was almost nighttime already.

Only now did Zavia realize just how massive this place was after spending all day wandering around. For others it might take 2-3 days to cover everything.

Exiting a building, Zavia watched the Marines revealing smiles on their faces after a day of training. For some reason, it reminded him of the students from his old school...

Glancing back at Bogard behind him, Zavia felt a sense of admiration well up. This guy had accompanied him from morning until now as he toured the entire Military Academy. Zavia truly admired Bogard's patience.

But it wasn't like Zavia could do anything about it if Bogard insisted on following. Forget it, just tag along then. With this mentality, Zavia strode towards the barracks.
