Chapter 115 - 115 Rescue (Second Update)
Chapter 115: Chapter 115 Rescue (Second Update)
His body spun, and Roger, seizing the forward momentum, brought his two-handed steel sword slashing down from above.
Facing the weapon in Roger’s hands, the one-armed woman stretched out her right hand with an indifferent expression on her face.
Clang!
A sound of metal clashing rang out.
In the palm of the woman’s hand, three small snakes emerged and intertwined with each other, the origin of such bizarre creatures unknown.
Completely dark in color, their bodies appeared as hard as steel, and feeling a slight tingling in his palm, Roger gauged the strength of his opponent.
His feet moved deftly, circling to the side of the one-armed woman.
This woman had only one arm, and targeting her weakness, Roger attacked her defensive blind spot.
But what astonished Roger was that when faced with his thrusting steel sword, the woman actually lunged forward, using her body to pin down the blade in Roger’s hand.
At the same time, her right hand rose high, the steel serpent coiled in her palm shooting straight for Roger’s face!
This suicidal fighting style was completely unexpected by Roger, and at the critical moment, he abandoned his steel sword.
A dagger appeared in his hand seemingly out of nowhere.
His arm lifted, easily flicking away the lunging steel serpent, and as the dagger reached its highest point, his wrist turned and the blade pressed down!
Schlick!
The sharp dagger plunged into the thoracic cavity along the edge of the one-armed woman’s neck, and as Roger twisted his wrist, the blade slashed past her ear and pierced into her temple!
As death approached, the one-armed woman didn’t say anything, just stared fixedly at Roger, her remaining right hand still attempting to strike, but it only twitched slightly before falling limply.
From their first exchange to the decisive moment, only a few short seconds had passed, though brief, any hesitation would have meant his own demise.
Walking the line between life and death, Roger realized he had shown strong mental fortitude.
Shick!
Roger drew out his steel sword, quickly scanned the area, and with a powerful thrust of his legs, charged towards the stone house.
Thud!
A muffled grunt, and a powerful recoil sent Roger flying back. He shook his groggy head and got up.
“It’s that strange witchcraft again.”
Remembering the experience in the forest just now, he concentrated his mind, focusing his attention on his eyes, and that familiar sensation appeared once again.
The scene before his eyes blurred, and the vista in front of the stone house transformed, at the same time, through the open stone door, he saw Amanda lying on the stone slab.
Amanda on the stone slab looked agonized, her body shaking wildly as if struggling to break free from an endless nightmare.
“This woman is conducting some bizarre ritual with Amanda and Betty. How do I break it?” Roger questioned aloud as he rushed inside the stone house.
“This woman is only strong in the head, without a source of strength. The ritual must be gathering energy through the array and runes.”
“Break them, and you’ll end her ritual!” Henrik replied while shooting.
Enshrouded by the Prophet’s witchcraft, Henrik was unable to precisely target his shots.
Having lost his precision, Henrik’s effectiveness greatly diminished, but even while he was being attacked by mutated crows, he still managed to get off a few shots.
The bullets burrowed into the giant serpent’s eye sockets, invisibly alleviating much of Peter’s pressure.
The serpent, wounded by Henrik’s bullets, rolled wildly, and Peter smartly retreated, dodging the swipe of the python.
“Come back!”
The Prophet let out a low shout, blood tears streaming from his eyes, and the giant serpent struggled to crawl over, meanwhile a portion of the crows attacking Henrik turned and dove at Roger.
Roger reached the entrance of the stone house, and as crows in the sky cawed strangely, a gleam flashed in their eyes, and when the crows neared, Roger’s body spun like a top.
The Steel Sword swung, and the crows that swooped in were slashed down one by one by the rotating blade.
“I should have let you deal with these ghostly things earlier!”
Ignoring Henrik’s complaints, Roger dashed into the stone house.
Amanda and Betty lay in the room, the liquid slowly peeling away from their bodies and gradually converging together.
Amanda’s fair skin was faintly turning black, as if unknown toxins were seeping into it, while Betty had turned as pale as a corpse.
Roger stepped forward and picked up Amanda, but even though she was lifted from the stone slab, the unidentified liquid was still connected to her.
“What’s going on here?”
Roger’s face changed color, and without worrying about damaging his blade, he raised his Steel Sword and struck at the Rune-covered stone slab.
Sparks flew as the Runes on the stone slab were completely destroyed, but even so, the ritual seemed to continue, and Amanda was growing weaker by the moment.
It was then that Roger noticed the special marks drawn on Amanda’s body.
If these Runes aren’t erased, the ritual will never end?
“If you don’t make a sound, I’ll take it as your agreement?”
Boom!
Suddenly, a loud noise echoed, and the whole room shook.
The room suddenly darkened, and the cloaked figure of the Prophet lunged from the doorway, her pale face and two streams of blood tears stark and horrifying.
“Useless, how could a ritual I preside over be as simple as those imbeciles?”
Behind her, the massive body of the serpent coiled into a ball, completely filling the doorway!
This creature used its own body to block the only exit!
“It’s all over!”
The Prophet stretched out her hand, and the two pools of liquid were completely peeled off from Amanda’s body, spinning as they floated towards her forehead.
This woman had calculated the timing perfectly, waiting for the ritual to end before using the serpent’s body to block the doorway. Unless they blasted apart the entire snake’s body,
there would no way to get in for a while.
Just a little longer… and she would complete the ritual!
A sneer appeared on the Prophet’s face, “Although you almost spoiled my plans, I am still the ultimate winner!”
“Their Life Essence is mine now… Hmm, I’ve changed my mind. Once I’ve healed my injuries, I’ll make you into the finest Voodoo Zombie and imprison your soul within it.”
“And this girl’s body shouldn’t go to waste either. Since you care so much for her, I’ll chop her up and feed her to you.”
The response to her was Roger’s fierce sword strike!
“Flash Strike!”
The same move, now executed by Roger, was even more powerful than before. The brilliant light of the blade swept across, but the Prophet just smiled contemptuously and lifted her right hand.
Her black cloak engulfed her, revealing only half her head.
Clang!
Roger’s blood churned, and his hands went numb from the impact, but seeing Amanda’s breath growing fainter, he didn’t have time to recover and kept slashing frantically.
Clang clang clang!
The continuous clashing sounds echoed throughout the room as the Prophet stood her ground, her cloak seemingly absorbing all the impacts, unaffected.
Faced with this outcome, Roger still maintained his high fighting spirit, feeling waves of warmth surging within him.
His heart beat more vigorously, and his blood flow suddenly accelerated under the influence of the Concentration Potion, as he sensed the sudden changes within his body.
With a spark in his eyes, Roger’s body suddenly moved.
A claw sharp enough can kill, even if it belongs to a cat!
