Chapter 849: Chapter 500: The Dominator’s Skin as Wedding Attire

“Brother Logan, I see you’ve been staring at this Little Flower somewhat entranced. Could it be that there’s actually some hidden secret with this flower that my eyes have missed?”

There was a probing intent in her words, not out of distrust for Logan’s judgement, but because that was just how Maya Leaf always was. She would always entertain a second guess at anything, yet with this particular yellow chrysanthemum, she truly had not noticed anything unusual.

“No.”

Logan shook his head; his face showing no pretense.

“I haven’t seen anything either, but for some reason, I really admire this little yellow chrysanthemum. Haven’t you noticed that it’s about to wilt?”

“Hmm?”

...

Reminded by him, Maya Leaf looked again with earnest.

Initially, because it was just an ordinary little yellow chrysanthemum, she didn’t pay much attention to it—just a glance and not a thorough one. She never expected Logan to observe such minute details, and thus she followed suit in close observation.

Upon closer inspection, it was indeed as he said.

“It seems that, despite its struggles to break through the soil, it cannot escape its destiny.”

“This little yellow chrysanthemum is fundamentally unable to absorb Spiritual Power. Even if it manages to bloom barely, in the end, it will only wither away until there’s nothing left.”

Maya Leaf spoke softly, a touch of sentiment in her gaze. Upon hearing this, Logan pursed his lips, struck by a different thought. Wasn’t this little yellow chrysanthemum just like him at the beginning?

So ordinary, without any striking color, yet it struggled to grow out of the cliffside, blooming that single vivid flower.

So many Spirit Plants did not grow on such craggy cliffs.

Only this one did.

In this little yellow chrysanthemum, he seemed to see an inexhaustible life force and a vitality that tirelessly reached upwards—perhaps the flower reminded him of himself, evoking a sense of compassion.

“I want to keep it alive.”

“What?”

Maya Leaf was initially puzzled, not understanding his intention as she looked towards him. Logan smiled and turned to her, saying,

“Perhaps it’s a sudden unwillingness to see this little yellow chrysanthemum wither. I want it to continue to live, no matter the cost, as long as it lives well.”

Maya Leaf didn’t understand.

“Brother Logan, it’s just an ordinary little yellow chrysanthemum. Such wildflowers can be found anywhere. Why go to such lengths for this one? Every individual has their own destiny, and so does a little yellow chrysanthemum.”

Logan simply smiled.

“But out of all the little yellow chrysanthemums, have you seen any that can grow out of a cliff?”

This rhetorical question stumped Maya Leaf, and she didn’t know what to say.

“Besides, you say every individual has their own destiny. Isn’t the fact that we’re here today, having stumbled upon this flower and feeling pity for it, perhaps also a part of the destiny that ties me to this little yellow chrysanthemum? Alright, Miss Leaf, let’s not talk about it anymore. As you said, it’s just a little yellow chrysanthemum. Keeping it in the Space Ring doesn’t require much effort.”

Maya Leaf was at a loss for words and then offered a sheepish smile.

“Brother Logan, don’t misunderstand, it’s just that the cliff is rather steep, and I worry for your safety if you attempt to pick the flower and something goes awry.”

Logan offered her a reassuring smile.

“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing. Now off I go.”

He then leapt onto the cliff and began to carefully make his way down, while Maya Leaf watched nervously from above.

“Brother Logan, be careful, the terrain there is very steep!”

“Don’t worry, I’m aware. I won’t take unnecessary risks.”

Despite his transient compassion for the little chrysanthemum, he was not the sort to risk his life for another being thoughtlessly.

If it proved impossible to pick, he certainly wouldn’t endanger himself, but perhaps out of luck or something else, he easily collected it.

His patience and compassion for the little yellow chrysanthemum exceeded expectations. So, instead of trampling it, he carefully dug it up, roots and all. After that, he took some Spirit Soil and placed it into the Space Ring for cultivation.

He glanced at the little yellow chrysanthemum within the space. Although it still looked wilted, at least it wasn’t wilting swiftly, which gave him some relief. With another leap, he quickly returned to the top of the cliff.

Maya Leaf had been anxiously awaiting his return, finally breathing a sigh of relief upon seeing him.

“Brother Logan, you’re back at last. You have no idea how worried I was!”

“The little yellow chrysanthemum—is it safe in your space now?”

Maya Leaf had her own storage space, but typically, living things couldn’t be kept in them.

“Oh, I happened upon something that allows me to cultivate Spirit Plants. I’ve already transplanted the little yellow chrysanthemum into it.”

Concerning the fact that living things could be put into his space, Logan did not reveal too much, glossing over the details of the little yellow chrysanthemum.

“Oh, really?”

Maya Leaf casually nodded, apparently not too concerned about it.

“It seems you and this little yellow chrysanthemum are quite fated. I hope it can be nurtured well and not let your hopes down.”

At this, the corners of Logan’s mouth curled into an involuntary smile.

“Then I’ll take your good word for it.”

“Brother Logan, it’s getting late. We should continue on our journey. If we don’t come across any exceptional opportunities, we’ll need to find a place to rest.”

“You’re right. Let’s move on.”

They rounded the cliff, intending to explore elsewhere. Finding nothing of note along the way, they eventually settled on a spot to rest. Maya Leaf voluntarily started a campfire and went out to collect some spring water.
