Chapter 11: Hornet
For a long time, Taiko did not accept his quirk and deliberately did not use it, thinking that it was a curse - the result of all the torment and trials that Kyudai poured on him so that he would dig into this shit on his own until the last of his strength. However, this would soon change because of Queen Bee. He understood how much similar they were, and it was quite possible that his quirk was awakened because of her, and she because of him.
A year passed. Taiko slowly began to learn the craft of medicine and surgery from Kyudai Garaki, watching him and only occasionally working together. Much more often, Taiko began to train, because, as Kyudai said, he changed his body in favor of the creatures he wanted to create, making him much stronger and more resilient, to add a couple of percent in the selection. His body just begged to strain himself every day like never before.
Despite the contradictions of a character like Kyudai, Taiko saw this as a manifestation of inherent care on his part. After all, they are not strangers to each other, however, the hatred for his activities continued to persist, even though Taiko developed an understanding of his work.
By the time Sensei arrived, Kyudai and Taiko as an assistant had created a prototype of the creature together. The main function of these creatures was the poly-quirk storage and use of several abilities at the same time. The first Brainless1* were created, named Johnny and Mocha, who, in fact, will be introduced by All For One.
The arrival of "Sensei" has arrived. The hospital staff discusses him in the person of an important patron donating large sums of money to the hospital, but Taiko knew that this was just a fiction for money laundering and an investment in this monstrous laboratory. Now he will see with his own eyes that very Sensei, his biological father and ... mother, in general, his parent, no matter how strange it may sound.
Taiko learned a lot, his understanding of quirks increased significantly, which will help him contact his own, which no one bothered to call that. Kyudai knew about the complex that had formed and did not force Taiko to use his power, only occasionally telling him to accept it.
- "As Kyudai said, Sensei will come tomorrow. I don't want to read anatomy yet. So I'll visit Akiko and go train." - Taiko planned his day, lying on the couch in the laboratory. That day still left an indelible scar both inside and out. However, he did not feel as lousy as he could have. To some extent, Taiko even caught the logic in the actions of the mad scientist. He definitely knew more than anyone, and Taiko, perhaps, will understand him one day.
The guy tried not to be offended by the scientist, there was no point in it. In the end, it was only thanks to him and Kyudai that Akiko received the long-awaited operation, and Taiko himself finally learned to use his quirk, even if he still hadn't accepted it. The hornets had flown away somewhere after the Giant's death, perhaps he could summon them again...
Despite the manipulation, cruelty, and lies, everything ended well.
-Not for those pathetic copies. - Continuing his thought, Taiko smiled to himself. However, his smile dissolved, remembering the slit throat of the boy with the number 07 on his neck. -The only thing that matters in this world is strength and knowledge. You were right, Kyudai. You were right.
Visiting Akiko, whose chestnut hair had grown a lot during the year she had been in a coma, he crossed paths with her mother, combing her hair, who had previously grieved greatly for her daughter, and now always had an apathetic expression on her face when she saw her sleeping daughter. She knew about Akiko's faithful and good friend, perhaps the only one who visited her so often.
Finally, Taiko touched her hair. Another productive day awaited him, filled with the desire to become stronger and smarter, naturally having fun at the same time. After all, now he understood that ultimately this is the only thing that matters in such an eternal race called life. Life is just a joke of God, of course, this does not mean that it should not be appreciated, but in any case, it remains for the smartest and the strongest to decide. And who else? God left this place long ago, leaving us to our fate.
-Eh... May. Everything is blooming and smelling. You can walk through the forest again. - Taiko ran along the forest path, skipping. - There is Syukiroto Hill, and yonder, far away, is Sekoto Peak. One day I will conquer you. You will see. - he addressed the invisible Kami, forest and mountain spirits.
Taiko ran into the wilderness and began to conduct a basic training with push-ups and intense, dynamic exercises, working with his own weight very easily.
Taiko was finishing another exercise. - It's time... phew, to the most interesting part. - a pleasant tingling in his muscles only gave him more excitement, he ran even deeper into the forest.
During all the time of theoretical study of his quirk and analysis of what happened during the battle with the Giant, he came to the conclusion how absurd the situation was. Previously, he created an arena for ants, and he was also placed there as a complete idiot. Only by a miracle did he survive. It is unclear how, first one hornet appeared, and then more and more of them appeared straight from the bodies.
Only after physical unloading in the forest, he felt much better. Even in the forest, he could forget about his duties in assisting Kyudai. About the terrible things he does with corpses, what changes he helps to bring about in them...
The path ended ahead, but Taiko still wanted to run.
- Damn, there used to be a path here, right?
He decided to go through the bushes. Coming out of them, he came across an even denser forest with a steep slope down. More and more often he noticed some traces on the trees, he wanted to take a closer look at them, but noticed a hillock ahead. Coming closer, Taiko saw a tightly built-up hole in the ground and a canopy of branches gnawed by someone. His heart began to beat faster.
- There are bears here... - a loud roar was heard from behind.
Taiko staggered and turned around. There was nothing else on his frozen grimace of horror and shock. A bear was running towards him, whose den was surrounded and whose territory was crossed. Only now did Taiko realize that the mark on the trees was from its sharp paws, and when he passed the bush, the smell of urine did not seem to him.
If this was not his territory, there would be a chance to escape if he behaved calmly and did not twitch, but here the line was crossed, the bear was already running with the aim of tearing the body of the prey.
The boy could not think because of fear and ran into a deep through den. The bear followed him into the hole, its huge carcass slowed down, but the nimble boy had already run out of it, quickly fidgeting with his knees on the ground and sharp sawdust leaving abrasions.
- "Just don't..." Taiko ran with all his might through the bushes and thickets. He heard the bear chasing him. The roar was getting closer and closer, and the fear was creeping up on him. There was nothing left to do but activate his quirk through his tears. It was the only thing he could do before he was tortured by a bear five times his size. Last time, when he thought he was going to die, his quirk saved him, why wouldn't this time be an exception?
