Chapter 39: Another Bald Villain
"Alexander, how have you been?" the Colonel asked, shaking Lex Luthor's hand.
[LEX LUTHOR]
"I'm doing better now that I've seen you," Luthor replied, returning the handshake and flattering the Colonel.
"Let me introduce you," the Colonel said to Luthor while motioning towards me.
"I don't think we need an introduction, Colonel. Everyone knows Bruce Wayne, the smartest man alive and the world's first trillionaire," Lex Luthor remarked, extending his hand for a handshake.
I shook his hand but didn't engage in further conversation.
"Colonel, is there anything else you want to talk about?" I asked, ignoring Lex Luthor.
Colonel simply shook his head and said. "I won't keep you any longer, Bruce, but consider our offer," then pat Luthor on the shoulder before leaving.
"Mr. Wayne, it's a pleasure to meet you at last," Luthor said with a professional fake smile on his face. "And I want to thank you. You probably don't know, but your work with the military has opened new opportunities. After seeing how effective your products are, they are more willing to collaborate with civilians."
He is a smart man. He knows that he is nothing but a small fish in an ocean called capitalism, and to climb to the top of the food chain, he must bow his head and be humble. That is until he gains the power that he desires. Then, this baldie will show his true colors - an arrogant self-centered narcissistic psychopath obsessed with killing aliens to the point that he'll destroy Earth in the process.
"While negotiating with the military, I had the chance to examine your armor, and I must say, it's truly remarkable. The design is truly unique, but it feels incomplete like there is something missing, don't you think?" he asked while still maintaining that fake smile of his.
"The armor is too basic, relies on a constant energy source, and has limited functions," I briefly pointed out its flaws while Luthor nodded in agreement.
"Just as I suspected, you intentionally designed the armor that way, maybe for the purpose of creating a better one and selling it at a higher price after the military witnesses the effectiveness of your armor. It's a good plan," Luthor nodded thoughtfully before stepping a bit closer, not enough to get in my face but just enough for me to hear his whisper.
"I would like to be included in that plan of yours, Mr. Wayne. I'm also developing armor for the military. They've already taken some of my designs for testing. If they approve, they'll sign a contract with me. So, what I'm proposing is a partnership between Wayne Enterprises and LexCorp to develop armor that will far surpass any other we can make individually," Luthor said and looked at me for my answer, but I just shook my head.
"Why not?" Luthor asked, looking puzzled.
"Providing more advanced weaponry for the military could start another world war," I said, and he nodded.
"I know that, but the world is already in a war. There will always be wars. Humans always kill each other, it's like a law at this point. Even if we stay out of it, others will take advantage of it. Why should we care what happens to others?" he asked with cunning curiosity, showing a little bit of his psychopathic side and trying to convince me to cooperate with him.
This cunning little baldie has a point, I can't deny that. But what he is looking for is quick cash and power, something he desperately needs. I, on the other hand, don't need or care for money or power. I'm already at the top of the food chain. If Luthor is a small fish in an ocean, then I'm a fucking megalodon.
{Sir, the Colonel has officially exited the premises.}
Also, while we were talking, Eden reminded me...
"Alexander, I'm not a black market arms dealer; I'm a businessman that deals in every industry. War is good for quick money and short-term business, but in the long run, war destroys other industries like farming, entertainment, civilian technology, etc." I said, trying to put some sense into this power-hungry villain.
Letting out a sigh, Luthor shook his head regretfully, realizing that he wouldn't be able to change my mind. He changed the subject.
"If you're not interested in arms, what about energy? Your arc reactor is undoubtedly one of the greatest inventions of our time and arguably the greatest in entire human history," Luthor said, genuinely impressed.
He may be a manipulator like me, but he is also a scientist and humanitarian. So when it comes to things that truly impress him and benefit humanity, he doesn't shy away from showing it.
"I'm developing something similar," Luthor said, pulling out his phone, which caught my attention because it was Wayne Tech. He showed me a picture of a glowing green rock.
"I found this mineral during one of my explorations. It's a strong energy source, not as powerful as your arc reactor, but still significant," he explained, handing me the phone for a closer look.
"We could collaborate between Wayne Enterprises and Luthor Corp. Your arc reactor could power large cities, while my Lex reactor could supply energy to smaller towns."
He sure is persistent, still trying to run on my boat to success. I wonder, does he think I'm a pushover, just because I was being polite to him.
Or did I become a Chinese novel MC? Is that why he is looking down on me?
Does he not know the difference between heaven and earth, or how high Mount Tai is?
I'll never forgive him until he knows 10 times, break his own leg, and cripple his cultivation.
...Yeah, let's not get too much caught up in the cringe.
"We can talk about those things once you grow up, Alexander," I said, giving his shoulder a pat and returning his phone.
"I'm serious, Mr. Wayne," he said, putting his phone back in his pocket, and while doing that, I caught a glimpse of him recording our conversation; why, I don't know.
"I'm being serious as well, you are only able to talk to me because of my boredom, otherwise you are nothing but a small man trying to play the big game."
"It's only a matter of time before I become someone even you can't ignore, Mr. Wayne. You should consider my offer when you are still at an advantage," Luthor said with confidence as he straightened himself, took a step back, and looked me directly in the eye.
"Alexander, your entire net worth is in the millions, while I have billions in liquid cash. Wayne Enterprises operates in every single field. The connection and power I have in my hands is beyond your imagination. I could put a bullet in your head and the entire nation will praise me as a hero, so don't try to get into a pissing contest with me. I crush you every single time, you damn baldie," I said as I faced forward and looked down at him, clearly showing my superiority and dominance over him.
He glared at me, his lips quivering and throat moving, ready to speak up but chose not to because, in the end, my words weren't an insult but fact, he is indeed nothing compared to me.
The realization of it only made him angrier, and To be fair, it doesn't take much to anger him since he is still young and inexperienced. Not the big bad villain he will become in the future. Not to mention, he really does have anger issues that are caused by his past trauma, especially from his father's good old belt.
His glare intensified, and I could see his eyes reddening as he clenched his fists tightly. And just as he get the courage or anger to open his mouth to say something.
Zatanna arrived and forcefully pushed him aside. Since he didn't expect it, he was caught off guard and stumbled before falling.
She paused and cast Luthor a disdainful look with a scoff then she hugged me, resting her head on my chest.
"Alexander, be a good boy and go home before you embarrass yourself further," I said to Luthor, who continued to glare at me, veins bulging on his bald head.
He stood up and left, blood dripping from his hands where his nails had dug into his palms.
Even though I humiliated this baldie, I should keep an eye on him since he is one of the smartest people on Earth.
Which also reminds me, that I should probably pull his sister, Lana Luthor, to my side while she is still suffering from illness and cure her to use her. She could be a great asset for me since the wiki says that Luthor thinks of her as equal to his intellect.
Looking down, I saw Zatanna looking at me with her big blue eyes and a smile on her face as she tightened her hug, pressing her entire body against me.
I smiled back and wrapped my arms around her waist. As we looked into each other's eyes, I noticed her taking peeks at my lips. Since she was shy about making the first move in public,
I leaned down to kiss her. Seeing that I was taking the initiative, she quickly tiptoed and kissed me.
"Hey, Z how ab-" Just as I was about to suggest leaving after a quick but deep kiss, I heard Eden's warning.
{Sir, 50 armed masked intruders are about to enter the floor you are on via zipline. They are firing across the building, and their leader appears to be a really thin man wearing a purple tuxedo and clown makeup.}
Finally, the moment I've been waiting is near.
