Chapter 14: Chapter 14: The Grim Reaper

"Fire!" General Jericho ordered, and more than fifty soldiers, arranged in a crouching stance, began the first round of gunfire with their standard issue M4A1 rifles.

The 5.56mm bullets were sent towards the greenish mist.

The barrage of bullets pierced through the greenish mist like spikes, sending out a continuous stream of trajectories.

The Anchorage base was completely covered in the unending sound of gunfire. Even the base personnel who had come to watch from a distance couldn't help but squint their eyes.

The greenish mist was churned by the continuous bullets, resembling turbulent waves.

In H'el's view, the greenish mist drifted around in tiny particles. He hadn't activated his microscopic vision, but his natural vision was sharp enough to perceive the mist in finer detail, appearing as countless particles drifting.

Bullets rotated in front of his eyes, friction heating them to incandescence. They evaporated and pushed away the greenish mist, heading straight for his chest muscles. Faced with the impenetrable chest muscle skin, they were compressed into small, forged iron-like pieces upon impact and dropped to the ground, emitting smoke.

Countless bullets shot at him, striking his body like hitting an impenetrable steel plate.

"Hmm, it tickles a bit," H'el commented. The sensation was like... if you were to lightly tap your arm with your fingertips right now, that's what it felt like to block bullets.

It was as if countless fingers were lightly touching him, while the bullets made popping sounds as they hit him but couldn't penetrate.

Some bullets were aimed at the corneas of his eyes. As they approached, they grew larger in his line of sight, and upon impacting his eye corneas, they were compressed into small iron blocks and fell to the ground.

This feeling of bullets being shot at his eyes, with a burning and spinning bullet coming straight at him in his line of sight, was something he had never experienced before. It was quite novel.

"He's fine, he's moving freely, and he's gradually walking out of the neurotoxin mist. What's going on, General?"

One soldier reported to General Jericho. They were just following orders, protecting the Earth. They had no idea how one person could withstand the continuous gunfire of nearly fifty M4A1 rifles. In the brief time that had passed, he had already been shot at by over 3,000 rounds of 5.56mm bullets, and he was still moving, gradually emerging from the neurotoxin.

The soldiers who were firing were dumbfounded, and the smell of gunpowder hung heavily in the air. Was this still a human being? A flesh and blood body that could block bullets!

H'el, with his tall and muscular physique, radiant and powerful, displayed the most exquisite contours of the human body. He looked like the perfect Greek statue, flawless. He walked out of the mist like a divine being, casting a ruthless glance. Bullets continuously struck him and fell to the ground, leaving everyone in awe.

"Keep firing, fall back. He's an alien; humans will prevail! Second round, open fire!" General Jericho's face was unusually serious, his gaze cold and stern. He suppressed his astonishment and fear and issued orders loudly.

More than fifty soldiers, their eyes filled with disbelief and fear, maintained formation, crouching and standing, while shooting and retreating. Heavy firepower weapons like the M240 machine gun, Browning M2 heavy machine gun, and jeeps armed with 30mm caliber cannons took over the fire support.

7.68mm, 12mm, 30mm armor-piercing rounds—enough to turn any tank into scrap—were unleashed.

Even fiercer smoke billowed up, and the entire Anchorage base was filled with the deafening sound of gunfire. The thunderous roar sent tremors through eardrums, making people involuntarily cover their ears, gaping in astonishment.

H'el wasn't the kind of Superman who would take being shot at without retaliation. While the bullets were merely itching him, bringing out heavy machine guns and cannons was a severe provocation.

This was the first time H'el started using his bio-magnetic field, a substance that balanced the overwhelmingly potent Kryptonian cells, with an effect far surpassing what Superman could achieve.

The bio-magnetic field was an extension of his powerful physique. Superman could envelop aircraft and materials with his bio-magnetic field, forming a protective barrier to shield humans inside the aircraft from harm.

H'el, on the other hand, could achieve a level of precision even greater than Superman's.

Extending his bio-magnetic field from his body, he began to interact with the external environment. Bullet by bullet, they began to stop around H'el, suspended in the air by his thick life magnetic field.

H'el continued to walk forward nonchalantly, and one by one, the bullets stopped around him, as if he were the center of the world, surrounded by bullets frozen in mid-air.

"What on Earth is happening?"

"It's impossible, this can't be happening."

"It must be telekinesis, some kind of sci-fi power."

"Oh my God, this is unreal."

Soldiers who were operating heavy machine guns gradually released their fingers from the triggers, gaping in shock as they watched bullets suddenly halt in mid-air around H'el. It defied all logic – bullets that had broken the sound barrier were now inexplicably frozen in place, without any warning.

This was a god-like power.

Could this truly be a power that living beings possessed? Some soldiers started to feel dread, their hands ceased squeezing the triggers, and they stared in horror.

The cannon mounted on the jeep, which had been continuously firing, showed no signs of stopping. It continued to relentlessly unleash bullets from every round of its ammunition belt.

Each massive 30mm round, suspended in mid-air with tremendous kinetic energy, challenged their sanity.

Some soldiers shouted about demons, howling as they continued their relentless firing, only for their bullets to remain suspended in the air. Others were left stupefied, unable to process what was happening.

Then, in an instant, H'el let go. He manipulated the bio-magnetic field's force, causing it to ripple outwards like he had thrown a stone into a pond.

Just as the force of his release suggested, the suspended bullets, now filled with even greater speed and kinetic energy than when they were fired, shot back towards their origin point.

A ring of sonic booms erupted where the bullets had been suspended. All the bullets converged on H'el's position, a relentless and densely packed onslaught that pierced through the soldiers who had been firing them. Firearms exploded upon impact with the bullets, striking the steel structures of the Anchorage base and sparking fires.

In that instant, the smokescreen turned into a bloody battlefield, filled with the scent of carnage.

Too many soldiers met gruesome deaths before their eyes, and even more were maimed. Many bystanders who had been observing from afar were also affected, with death and disability in no short supply.

Anguished screams and mournful cries filled the air, forming a chorus of sorrow and despair.

H'el, appearing as an emotionless deity among mortals, emerged from the sonic booms.

He considered this mere child's play with his bio-magnetic field, nothing worth marveling at. He believed he was not like Superman, a brute who only knew how to fight with his fists.

So, using his bio-magnetic field, he finely perceived the bio-magnetic fields of the humans around him. His eyes flashed with contemplation, and as he walked, he connected with a soldier's bio-magnetic field.

The moment the soldier's field connected with his own, unable to withstand the immense pressure of his bio-magnetic field, the entire soldier exploded into a mist of blood, vanishing before his eyes.

He had found a more efficient way. No need for energy-consuming heat vision or the blunt force of close-quarters combat. Each soldier disintegrated into blood mist, one by one.

*Boom, boom, boom, boom...*

He was like an unrelenting harbinger of death, moving through the battlefield, contemplating as he walked. Humans unwittingly turned into blood mist, their terrified cries signaling the arrival of the Grim Reaper.
