Chapter 42: Chapter 42 Hell Kitchen

As soon as the words left his mouth, the massive figure surged forward, closing in on the group.

Fox and her team felt a powerful gust; they had no time to react.

Bang!

The Mechanic, who had spoken rudely, was struck down, bleeding heavily and collapsing unconscious.

Carlos attempted to escape but was halted by a sudden projectile.

Boom!

The deafening explosion echoed, alerting everyone around the Empire State Building.

In the neighboring buildings, the unaware late-night workers shrieked in terror, staring at the flames erupting from the Empire State Building and swallowing hard, realizing something had gone terribly wrong.

Beeeep! Beeeep!

Calls flooded the lines at NYPD.

George Stacy, who had been preparing to leave work, clenched his teeth in frustration.

The Continental Hotel incident had kept him occupied for days, handling the disabled assassins. He had barely managed to catch a break, and now this?

Which idiot was it this time?

This is going to be a nightmare!

"Chief, there's an intense shootout at the Empire State Building—someone used explosives!"

"Explosives?"

George was momentarily stunned, then burst out, "RPG? Which lunatic thinks it's okay to fire an RPG in the city? Do they have a death wish?"

The officer confirmed, "Chief, there's no mistake. The call operators are swamped."

"Damn it!"

George stormed out of his office. "What are you standing around for? Move out!"

Inside the Empire State Building, after the shoulder-mounted missile was launched…

Carlos and the others were left stunned, unable to believe the scale of the attack.

This was heavy weaponry!

There was an unspoken rule in the city: anyone who used heavy weaponry was directly defying the city authorities.

Most adhered to this rule, also due to the strict regulations on such weapons.

There was a delicate balance of peace between the underworld and law enforcement.

"This is your last chance," Anton's voice rumbled, as the Rabbit Armor's red eyes scanned everyone.

The assassins stood paralyzed, feeling Batman's overwhelming presence.

It was clear that Batman wasn't bound by typical rules and was fully confident in his actions.

Moments later, the police arrived.

Outside the Empire State Building, a group of assassins—disarmed and bound together—sat helplessly on the ground, their eyes filled with terror.

When the police cars arrived, they didn't react, their expressions still vacant.

"Who are these people?" one officer wondered, noting that they didn't look like victims but were posing as such.

"They're from the Brotherhood!"

"What, assassins again?"

The officer was taken aback, quickly pulling out handcuffs.

George Stacy arrived, having been the one to identify the Brotherhood members.

Looking at the group before him, his head throbbed.

Carlos was a legend in the underground world, the Brotherhood's undefeated ace. Although he had defected, his profile had landed on many desks.

George had received word from his informants that there would be a Brotherhood showdown tonight. He had hoped it wouldn't involve the police, but it turned out to be a huge incident.

Using heavy weapons in the Empire State Building!

This was serious!

With the criminal records these individuals had, they were likely going to be locked up for life.

"???"

George could only think in question marks.

"Who did this?"

"Who captured the Brotherhood members?"

"And who was the lunatic with the RPG?"

George wasn't very familiar with the Brotherhood, but he knew plenty about the Continental Hotel, the High Table's American branch.

Considering that the Brotherhood was on par with the High Table, it was shocking to see its top assassins all apprehended like this.

"Chief, look, it's Batman!"

A nearby officer's exclamation pulled George back to reality. He glanced up to see a familiar silhouette on the top floor of the Empire State Building.

Just like a few days ago.

"What the… him again?"

George's eyes widened, his breathing quickened as he stared at the shadow above.

Whoosh!

The next moment, the figure vanished from sight, just as before.

The officers fell silent, each recalling the scene from days prior.

"Let's wrap it up," George sighed.

Honestly, they had no way to deal with this elusive, unidentified Batman.

"At least there are no reporters today…"

Relieved, George exhaled deeply. If the citizens of New York found out that Batman had appeared again, captured a group of elite assassins, and stopped a shootout in the Empire State Building, the NYPD would face another round of media and public mockery.

As for the callers and the rumors, as long as they didn't reach the newspapers, the NYPD could act like nothing happened.

George was no stranger to this approach.

What he didn't notice was a man with a camera in the distance, grinning with satisfaction.

"These photos are fantastic. I'll ask Anton for a bonus," Eddie muttered as he captured the scene of the Empire State Building and the police. Of course, he didn't miss the Rabbit Armor's silhouette leaping across buildings.

Looking at the pictures in his camera, he was pleased, already imagining tomorrow's headlines.

Anton was indeed a great boss.

Eddie had just returned to work, and Anton had given him such a prime assignment.

"This is perfect!"

Eddie slipped away before the police noticed him, but he didn't go home yet; Anton's orders weren't complete. His next destination was the NYPD's front entrance.

Meanwhile…

After leaving the Empire State Building, the Rabbit Armor arrived at a street in Hell's Kitchen.

Boom!

The suit crashed onto a street in Hell's Kitchen with a brutal presence, drawing attention from all around.

This was Hell's Kitchen, after all.

"Oh, shit! What is that thing?"

"Hey, this is our turf, not a playground."

"No matter what you're planning, I'd advise you to think twice."

A group emerged, guns drawn, and without hesitation, they pulled the trigger.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Bullets ricocheted off the Rabbit Armor's shell, sparking with flashes.

The men stared in shock.

They had never seen such a thing—a metal monster?

"This is Kingpin's territory!"

"I suggest you show some respect!"

They hesitated, but their allegiance prevented them from backing down.

Inside a nearby building, in a hidden room…

A white man and a Black man were having a cordial meeting.

The white man wore a custom-made suit, his massive size making him look bulky, though few knew his body was all muscle. He was an incredibly evil, cunning, and astoundingly powerful man.

The Black man looked older, but the cunning glint in his eyes made it clear he was no pushover.

The two were shaking hands.

"Welcome, Brotherhood, to my underground empire."

The white man had just spoken when the door to the hidden room burst open, and a bald man with a target tattoo on his forehead entered.

He looked at the two men, ignoring the immediate change in their expressions, and bluntly announced:

"Boss, we have a problem. Someone's barged in."
