Chapter 84: GG EZ
Despite the intimidating presence washing on them, screams of insanity wash out from those now finding themselves trapped under the spirit’s talons, they charge forward without hesitation. While charging onward (toward what many would consider certain death) Ruby couldn’t help but have a brow raise as she viewed Navy’s brand new weapon.
As a bident its general shape was exactly what one would expect; a simple non-ornamental spear shaft that had two blades at the end. Unlike what one would expect - especially considering his previous weapons were always made from the same volcanic-appearing stone - his spear was made completely out of a golden wood that gleamed slightly despite being under the shadow of the bearded Vulture.
Now wasn’t exactly the time to complain about his choices.
Plus she had watched the {Heavenly Demon} fight as she grew up during the first great war so at least knew there was no need to worry about how he’d get out of this. That bird was never going to calmly sit there and let them just approach - everyone knew that oni weren’t exactly masters of magic.
“If I can’t just take out that one oni I’ll just kill you all instead gehehehe~!” <Faux God/Bird>
An demeanted laugh that was joined by an explosion of shadowy tendrils that attempted to drive holes into the group of warriors. Not one of them was inexperienced so they used their variety of weapons to knock any of the attacks aside; hundreds of tendrils attempted to skewer them yet not a single one managed to even draw blood. It did manage to slow them down a lot yet the battle acclimatised battalion were still able to approach step by step with grins upon their face.
It wasn’t because each one was stronger or more skilled, though the latter may be true, but because they fought side by side to ensure they wouldn’t lose a single comrade.
Despite the crimson aura - empowering those powerful tendrils which easily upturned the earth for miles after being deflected by the oni - the bird wasn’t getting out uninjured. Most of them were unable to get past that tough flesh yet both Navy & Ruby weren’t ordinary even when compared to those present.
Ruby was quite simple, using her cursed blade to directly slice through those tendrils causing black gore to rain down below, the ground hissing as the blood smouldered. There was no sign of fear about being hit as she just continued to cut up anything that approached her with evident skill & talent. Any time that the vulture thought they would finally get a hit she easily stepped aside to deliver a terrifying counter with her powerful sword intent.
“Seems Vul’Turez forgot the reason they were feared is thanks to their poison when combined with their annoying numbers; kinda funny how much they look down on us bwahaha~!” <Ruby>
A bellowing guffaw left the oni ancestor as she held a savage fang filled smile that suited one of her bloodline quite well. Easily tilting her head to dodge a blow that was coming from behind - following up with a powerful slash that took out tens of tendrils all at once.
“Almost makes you want to break out into song~♪” <Navy>
In contrast, Navy… Well he was certainly proving his long line of achievements and succinctly mountain of titles were not gained by mere chance.
His actions were quite opposed to those of the oni - it was more akin to an adult playing with a child - as no matter how many attacks came down on him they were unable to even touch him. There was no sign of him even trying as he would just slip through the smallest gap while occasionally swinging his bident only to result in even more damage than Ruby.
If the oni were holding out against the onslaught of attacks, what Navy was accomplishing was more akin to bullying the bird as he sometimes seemingly vanished only to appear further back. No matter how many tendrils rushed towards him (there may as well have been none) there was no slowing him down.
“Maybe you should try a little harder Bearded?” <Navy>
“GRRRAHAHAAH!” <Faux God>
Angry howls came from the bird yet were ignored by all those it was trying to crush; though they knew well that this was just the start and no spirit would be so simple.
Upon seeing that even their venomous poisons were completely useless due to their study defence, the bird racked its claws across the barrier to cause more cracks to appear. Those forlorn screams from those unable to hide were disregarded - tendrils oozing through those cracks to coil around those unfortunate souls who soon became naught but crimson paste.
It didn’t matter who got caught within its grasp - man, women or child - as they all got crushed in the same sickening matter with a pulpy *BLUSCH!*. Fueling the nightmare spawns scarlet emanation even more; in return its attacks became far more rapid & dominant as if fueled by those hysterical howls from those who were crushed in its grasp.
Space itself seemed unable to hold the bird as space began to collapse all around, dents that formed into the fabric of reality gave in to form holes, as beasts of void ‘crawled out’. Even they just became a meal for that eldritch god - ones it dragged into it’s maws to slurp up as if they were worms.
What’s more, a chill suddenly overcame Ruby who instantly responded by slashing their sword backwards towards their invisible opponent. That didn’t stop the figure cloaked in moonlight as they seemed intent with trading their neck for Ruby’s without fear.
Instead of trading, though, they seemed to phase through the cursed sword like a resentful phantom hunting down the living for no other reason than a primal desire.
“Wha-” <Ruby>
Before it could achieve it’s desire an all too familiar bident caught the dagger between it’s blade - with agile finesse Navy flicked the moonlight dagger away with its user. Ruby was confused at how her weapon failed while the {Heavenly Demon} succeeded hence she was about to enquire. However, she couldn’t help but frown as she turned to see him there, his chest heaving as his spare hand clutched his little chest.
“Ah~ it’s proving difficult to fight physically for a prolonged time with a child's body… Honestly it’s a little embarrassing to look like this after taking out the 4 horsemen; then again I didn’t exactly give myself a lot of time to rest after facing them. Any one of those undead could have likely reduced these assassins to horse shit in a matter of seconds if I hadn’t sealed them~♪” <Navy>
Despite the stinky situation he found himself in there was no fear which made everyone, not just those allies of his, freeze in place with caution.
Everyone around had a history with the boy in front of them; to put it nicely Navy most definitely was a character who often gained himself more enemies than friends. There was no toppler in existence that didn’t have some kind of grudge against him as even his older sister wanted to beat him.
That always meant he had his ways to get himself out of the situations he got himself into - something neither of those assassins would have a clue about. Not because either of them were weak but because they were servants of the two most secretive Archons in existence. Both of them treated the secrets around Navy as something to be careful about; although for different reasons neither wished to go against their leaders and learn something they shouldn’t.
As a result the moonlight adorned assassin as well as the murder-happy bird found themselves becoming more cautious; the vulture even slowed down their attacks with narrowed eyes.
“What are you up to, human?” <Faux God>
Gnashing their beak hitherto opening it up to reveal thousands upon thousands of barely interlocking teeth that dribbled with yellow, hissing, acid that was lapped up by a long thin tongue. Certainly very intimidating yet Navy just glanced back toward the hidden assailant with that same unapologetically smug smile; not even caring for the spiritual deity in front of him.
“Do you know that you gobbled up some kids; are you sure your boss would like that; I’m sure Mother would also think you are a greater enemy right?” <Navy>
Those surrounding Navy looked at him like he was an idiot for a Moment… That was until they heard the terrified squeaks from the terrifying vulture who abruptly leapt from the barrier to dive toward those below with their talons poised to slice some oni up. This was obviously unsuccessful as they just leapt back; still it followed up by wrapping its wings around itself.

For a moment those large shadowy wings seemed to bubble & boil before they burst out like thousands of abyssal threads that tried to piece everything around them. In return the oni tried their best to hold the attack back nevertheless the best they managed to do was to block the blow with their weapons - resulting in the momentum sending them hurdling back. Even the mysterious attacker was caught in this attack however they summoned a barrier of moonlight that caused those inky threads to burn up.
Some of the oni even found their weapons cracking due to the terror fueled fervour of the blow, using this opening to charge toward the now alone Ruby.
Surprisingly the barrier of moonlight formed into an orb that exploded out into a beam that collided with the spirit’s shadowy winds - sending it off balance where it fell to the ground. The bird skidded across the ground yet refused to give in despite a rather fierce wound on its side with such a level of fear that no eldritch entity should have known. That gaping wound, pouring with thick acidic blood, did little to slow it down as it leapt once more at Ruby who was well prepared.
“I’ll teach you never to underestimate a Shuten~!” <Ruby>
With a downward slash she met those metallic claws mid-air - managing to hold the bird in the air as a violet flare flickered from her cursed sword. Within the purple flame was a ruby red core that began to spread across that bird’s legs resulting in those talons to melt. A distorted scream of pain exited from the bird as it leapt backwards to obviously create distance only for it to notice cords that had been thrown all around itself a bit too late.
The {Asura Ancestors} pulled down a web of oni-crafted metal rope, dragging that bird down to the ground just like they used to do with those dragons all that time ago. To them the only thing that was different between the bird & the dragons was a difference in flavour between a poultry & lizard!
Seeing the bird falling down, Navy threw his bident up before grabbing it once more, throwing it in an overhead manner just as the eldritch entity slammed down with a *BAM*.
“SR̶̮̳̹̘͎̼̺̦̲̘̎͌͜Ē̶̺̲̱͖͉̠̼̾͒̌̐͐̇̑̽͛͝EE̴̡̘͙̖͖̦̮͖͌̈́̈͌̄͂͂͑̐͜EE̴̖͈͕̬̹̺̟̦͇̫͇͈̩̘͍͆͐̃̇̓͐̑͐̕̕̕EE̴̡̯̫̭̥̦͖̐̀͊͂͗͋͒͛̐̑͜͝͝!” <Faux God>
Unfortunately the bird brain was still smarter than a dragon as it forcibly tugged it’s body to the side which did cause it’s wing to seemingly dislocate - at the very least it avoided a fatal hit. Still the golden wood spear still managed to puncture into its shoulder blade which resulted in golden veins to begin coursing from the wound. Its screams grew even more intense but so did its struggle as it shot out dozens of tendrils from its wounded wings forcing the oni to abandon the cords.
Clearly the bird had no pride as a warrior as it used this chance to quickly turn tail and run; leaping into the air to glide shakily on its wounded wings. Its retreating flight clearly was not a stable one however its desperation to live seemed to be enough to aid it in escaping.
Watching the spirit side by side - Ruby turned to look toward Navy.
“Not going to finish it off?” <Ruby>
“Heh that little saintess will solve that in 3, 2-” <Navy>
Just before he managed to say one, a turquoise scaled wyvern appeared from its moonlight veil to grab the vulture by its shoulders to forcibly push it down to the ground once more. Even though the eldritch god didn’t seem very pleased it was unable to resist the goddess of moonlight as she clearly reached her maw towards its jugular before they impacted the ground.
“Say… I know your plan but shouldn’t there have been no kids in the sect?” <Ruby>
“Heh she didn’t need to know that~♪” <Navy>
No more words were exchanged as Navy turned away from the fighting titans in the distance, not even worrying about the cracks in space that were gradually getting worse, as he walked away. Seemingly having done his job he continued on his adventure with no words of farewell even as he lifted a hand to wipe some blood leaking from the corner of his lips.
