Chapter 27: 26. Unexpected Care 2
"I don't want any objections; you will go to bed and rest immediately," Tom frowned, looking angry. He was the Dark Lord and no one could order him around; this girl had just interrupted him.
Alice felt something strange in Tom's expression and was afraid that she might have done something wrong. She didn't want to ruin their newly established good relationship. She looked at Tom anxiously.
Alice looked at Tom's furrowed brow and angry expression, then got up and walked toward him. Tom just looked at her as she approached. Alice leaned over to Tom and spoke. "You look handsome and cute when you furrow your eyebrows like that, you give me mixed feelings."
Tom wouldn't be surprised by the different reactions. Alice could get scared, run away, or apologize. But he hadn't expected her to say those words. Alice had understood that, so she had a sweet smile on her face. Tom was angry, but not at Alice; he was angry because he didn't like taking orders.
Tom was angry again because he felt defeated by this woman. How could anyone give him orders? If they did, the only answer they would get would be a painful death. But Tom didn't want to hurt this woman. Should I give this woman so much leniency just because of a kiss?
Tom thought that the reason for this tolerance towards Alice was because of their previous kisses and the hormones in his body. He had never experienced anything like this before. None of his followers were indispensable; they were all just pawns.
Now he didn't treat this woman like a pawn or a follower. Tom was aware of everything, but he couldn't help it. He unconsciously wanted to brush aside the strands of hair that fell across Alice's forehead. The red lipstick on her lips distracted him, reminding him of a nice wine he had drunk earlier.
When Alice saw Tom looking at her lips, she involuntarily looked at them as well. She had deliberately worn red lipstick today. Alice was happy to see that her plan had worked; she could get this man's attention.
But Tom didn't try to kiss Alice as she had hoped. He looked elsewhere and spoke. "I think I'm a little sick; I need to rest." Tom decided to make an excuse because he didn't want to deal with this woman.
Alice was disappointed. Seeing Alice's sad expression, Tom was surprised. Why did she suddenly have a strange expression? Did I bother her? Tom didn't know what to do, so he didn't respond.
Alice changed the subject before Tom could say anything. "You need to rest to prevent your illness from progressing; you should go to bed." Tom was relieved to be out of a difficult situation when Alice spoke, but he didn't want to go to bed. It didn't seem right to lie in bed when there was someone else in the house.
"But you're still standing," Alice said, not giving Tom a chance to think or speak. Tom couldn't find a chance to speak or think. The only way to escape from this woman was to get rid of her, to kill her, but Tom didn't want to do that.
"I'm really not in such a bad condition as you see." Tom tried to get out of the situation; he had gotten himself into such a ridiculous situation.
"I don't remember giving you a choice. You will go and rest immediately."
This woman is like me.
Tom liked this situation. He laughed like crazy. Alice, on the other hand, looked at him in amazement.
Tom's laughter spread warmth throughout the room; it was as if all the dark clouds had dissipated at that moment, giving way to happiness. His eyes sparkled, and with each smile, the wrinkles on his face became more cheerful.
It was impossible to suppress the excitement in him; it was as if his laughter swept away all his worries and anxieties. Alice, on the other hand, looked at him in amazement, trying to understand what was going on in his mind, and somewhere deep in her heart she felt herself warming.
Alice had never seen Tom laugh like that before. Alice smiled back at him. Tom, still laughing, started up the stairs to his bedroom. Alice was curious where he was going.
"Aren't you coming?"
Alice silently followed Tom up the stairs and entered Tom's room. The bed was messy, but there was still a flickering flame in one corner of the room; the fireplace was still burning. Tom hadn't let the fire go out; there was complete silence in the forest, only the faint crackling of the fireplace could be heard.
Outside there was a light snowfall and everything was covered with a white blanket. The silence of the forest and the snowy landscape gave Alice peace; she felt lost between the two.
Tom lay down on the bed without saying anything and covered himself with the blanket. He was sure that this woman was like other women, stupid and cowardly, but Alice had surprised him. She radiated the same nobility and fearlessness as he did.
Tom liked that she was stubborn; it reminded him of himself. Alice couldn't understand how this stubborn man could be convinced. She was fascinated by the atmosphere of the room. But something caught her eye.
