DANMACHI: The Silence's Heir (OC x Freya)

Chapter 12: Chapter 12-Old Friend!

Chapter 12

GODDESS LOKI

Her little search in the underground sewers of the city had proven itself to be rather fruitful as she faced many of those aberrant monsters from the attack on Monsterphilia. Those plant-like monsters had made somewhat of a nest in the underground part of the city, and had she not brought her dear Bete-chan with her, she might have just become monster food.

This discovery of her had answered some of the questions budding in her mind, absolving Freya of any involvement in the ordeal, and yet it opened a whole new can of worms. And just thinking about the new mystery made her whole being tremble in excitement.

"Things are about to get far more excited Bete-kun?" she chuckled as she played with the little stone they had extracted out of those monsters. She hoped that her precious Ais-tan would have returned from her little venture in the dungeon though it was rather unlikely, and as her mind was ost imagining her own adventure with her precious Ais-tan, her wolf child suddenly stopped making her bump into his back.

"Ouch," she winced as she rubbed her nose and complained petulantly.

"Bete-chan!" she winced and yet as she saw the expression on her child's face she stopped.

"That scent," he began as his eyes narrowed on the two people that had just come out of the corner, one of whom she easily recognised as a fellow god.

"It's from the sewers," and that made her eyes narrow as she looked the blonde diety in the eye.

"Ohh, isn't that interesting," she said as she pushed forth, eyes narrowing at the expression of the god infront of her.

"Now tell me, Dionysus. What were you doing down in the sewers?" things just kept on getting more and more interesting.

In the end, they decide to talk this out in detail. On the surface Dinoysus was a rather charming and lovable God. His familia had suffered a heavy blow seven years ago during the 27th floor incident and had not recovered since.

"Truth is, I was investigating this," he began his explanation as he took out a magic stone and put it on the table. Loki was surprised as she saw how it was similar to the stone she had harvested from those aberrant monsters herself.

"Ohh. And how did you get your hands on something like this, moreover why is a God like you so interested in this?" she asked.

And she saw him hesitate for a second, before he finally added.

"I gathered it during the recent attack on Monsterphilia as for the reason behind my interest," and she saw him lower his eyes as he continued.

"It's because I believe that this is connected to the death of my children. A few days ago, I found three of my children dead in the alley and I found this with them and since that day I have been trying to look into just what it is to find the culprit behind their murder?" as a Goddess she could tell that he was telling the truth, and the sheer pain and raw emotion on his face told her that he really cared for his children.

"I am sorry for your loss," their children may not share their blood but they were their children nonetheless, and except the few all gods and goddesses cared for their children wishing for them the best.

"And what have you figured out?" she asked, hoping to add upon the intel she herself had gathered.

"Not much, but there is something wrong here," Dinoysus added.

"Something that involves two parties," he added, making her perk up, for it seemed that Dinoysus was a bit ahead of her on this whole matter.

"Ohh, and just who might they be?" she asked.

"The first party is the one who forced upon this strange festival in the form of Monsterphilia, a festival which serves no purpose and was mostly an arbitrary imposition on their part," and she nodded; that was true.

"The Guild," she replied, and he nodded.

"Their actions have been rather suspicious for some time now; I refuse to believe that they are not somehow involved in this," he said, and the truth was that her own suspicions landed on the organization as well. The guild was the organization that controlled all of Orario, and monsterphilia was indeed one of their proposed ideas.

"And the other one?" she asked, tabling her thoughts and saw his eyes narrow as his fists balled up. The child beside him shifted as well, making her frown.

"The very person who was responsible for the 27th-floor massacre seven years ago," and she sighed, understanding his point.

"That traitor's child. The one who was the supposed source of the intelligence that got all of my children killed," he finished through gritted teeth, as Bete-kun beside her frowned as well, not getting the reference.

"Inumaki-kun," she named the child, and immediately, Dinoysus's expression shifted as he nodded through sheer disgust.

"Yes, for all of this began the second he returned to the city. I refuse to believe this is all a coincidence. Even then seven years ago, him getting injured just as the attack was to be launched was suspicious and we all know what happened next," and indeed they did. The massacre of the 27th floor was a tragedy that could not be forgotten, and it was really the downfall of Inumaki's reputation.

There were rumors that the source of that fraudulent information was him.

"He may be strong, but I will not rest until I get justice for my children. All of them," Dinoysus added with a shaky breath, as she sat there contemplating on this. Seven years ago, she herself had begun believing these rumors, though now, as she looked back, they were just that, rumors, and they had ruined the reputation and life of one of Orario's youngest adventurers.

And yet, was she wrong? Was it really him behind this all? No. It just did not feel right to her for some reason, and in Orario, there was nothing greater than a God's intuition about their child.

"I will help you look into i..."

INUMAKI-The Silent

He blocked the attack headed straight for Ais and watched as the red-haired attacker's eyes narrowed at him and then at both Leyfia and Ryuu, both of whom were now covered by a shimmering layer of silver magic.

"That magic," she whispered, and Inumaki was surprised by the sheer weight behind her attack. He was now a Level 5, and yet the attacker was on even footing with him.

"You are her son," the attacker continued its voice a rather stark contrast from the skin it wore. And he was surprised by those words, for their attack had recognized that magic, a magic he had inherited from his mother.

"Who are you?" he asked as he pushed his spear, sending the attack back, as Ais rose up as well, as another masked figure emerged from the shadows.

"It seems you have not learned your lesson, Silent," the enemy snarled as it tore away its skin to reveal its real face. She had red hair and feline slit-like eyes that glew an ominous golden, while the person beside her wore a witch doctor-esque mask, with hollow eyes.

"You should have stayed away from us," she added as Ais took out her own sword and gave him a nod, joining him.

"I don't know what lesson you are talking about, but don't worry, I am a rather quick study," and with that, Inumaki spun the spear in his hands as he got into his stance and then jumped forward in a single flash step, appearing right infront of the red-haired adventurer as he oushed forward his spear.

"Not so fast," and his guess was right as the red-haired enemy tilted her head and avoided his strike. Ais jumped forward from behind and unleashed her own attack.

"Aerial!" and it reminded him of old times, and he saw the red haired girl's eyes widen as Ais's attack rushed towards her.

"Impos..." but suddenly, he felt the ground beneath him shake, and monsters erupted from underneath him, forcing him to jump as he saw them rush towards Ais as well.

"Astaraxis," he chanted quickly as a silver hue covered her as the monster's attack was stopped by his shield as she used her other magic.

"Tempest!" and a storm erupted from her feet, propelling her forward towards the two enemies as she cut through the monsters, trying to cover them.

"You are Aria," and he heard only a whisper but did not miss how Ais's blade shited at the last second, shifting slightly as to leaving behind only a small cut on the red-haired adventurer's girl.

Aria—it was Ais's greatest secret, one which, despite his knowledge, he had only learned after being friends with the girl for a year. And yet, somehow, this red-haired adventurer was aware of that name.

At that moment, she swung her blade at Ais, forcing her to block, and she was sent back right beside him as a visibly shaken Ais looked at the red-haired girl with a narrowed gaze.

"How do you know that name?" Ais snarled as the red-haired girl chuckled.

"It seems I have found quite the souvenir," she added until suddenly, the other person beside him added.

"Do not forget the mission, Revis?" so that was her name, as Inumaki perked up and got his spear ready once more. He was the one commanding all the monsters, Inumaki realsied and turned his attention to him.

"Gae..." and as the spear in his arm began to glow, an ominous red Ais from his side pushed forth with her own magic.

"Tempest!" and to his surprise, the red-haired girl did something similar as he used the same chant.

"Tempest!" and to his surprise, he hesitated before he suddenly heard a loud whisper.

"Shaldo!" as a purple shield covered them all. It was a magic he had only ever heard of from her—his mother. It was the signature magic of one of Evilus's oldest executives, someone who was rather obsessed with Alfia-The silence. Shaldo, the de-leveler, was a magic that reduced an adventurer's stats.

But its user was supposed to be dead. He was immune to magic, yet unlike him, Ais was not, and as he saw the purple hue cover her, he screamed after her.

"Ais! Astara..." but he was too late as he saw the blonde clash with the red-haired girl and was immediately overpowered and sent tumbling back into the wall.

As the red-haired girl came after her, he abandoned the chant and pushed himself infront of Ais as he blocked her attack as a startled and bleeding Ais lay there, trying to force herself up.

"Get out of my wa.."

"Enough!" came the voice from behind as suddenly, he felt an ominous presence behind her and saw a massive monster, one much larger than all the other plant-like creatures, coming after them both.

"We have the seed. It's time to leave," came his voice.

"But..."

"It's an order," and he saw Revis eyes narrow as she jumped back beside the masked figure.

"Tsk! Let's go," and Inumaki knew he had to act.

"O Mother! Give me strength.." he chanted as he felt a sharp pain in his chest as his magic exploded, forcing the floor beneath his feet to crack.

"...Limit Breaker!" and as he activated his trump card, he looked at the two of them and voiced.

"What's the rush!" and with that he rushed towards the red-haired monster tamer and slashed his spear at her neck. She seemed surprised by his sudden increase in stats, and couldn't react in time as his spear cut through a part of her neck only for it to be blocked, by a sword from her partner.

"I wouldn't be so focused on us right now, Silent," and he saw those beady red eyes narrow and he glanced back and found the monster attacking a bleeding Ais, who was now limping as she cradled her broken arm.

"Goodbye, old friend!"

BOOOM!

Then the area exploded, pushing him back. As he felt the two of them vanish, he clicked his tongue and turned towards Ais, who opened his mouth.

"Gospel!" and a wave of magic rushed out and blew apart the branch like weapons aimed at Ais, as he blurred infront of her.

"Let me ha...."

"NO!" her voice came from behind, stopping him as she put a hand on his shoulder.

"I want to take care of this myself," she said as she looked him in the eye, and yet she was injured heavily. That purple magic may have worn off now, restringing her stats, but she was still rather injured.

But he knew Ais better than anyone else.

And so, he relaxed and stepped back as she focused her gaze on the giant monster in front of her, and a massive torrent of wind began to surround her.

"AERIAL!" she screamed as she slashed her sword, and in a display of inhuman magical prowess, she cut through the massive monster in a single swing.

BOOOM!

And with that gone, he saw her fall down to her knees as the little plan-like monsters tried to gang up on her, but he was faster as his spear pierced through them all as he appeared at her side and threw a recovery potion at her.

"You have done your part. Let me handle the rest!"

And with that, he looked at the massive hoard of monsters that Ryuu and the elf, Leyfia, and pushed his magic power into his spear, as it gleamed an ominous red.

"Gae..."

"...Bolg!"

And with that, he blurred through the area, leaving behind only blur in his wake as he tore through the whole hoard of monsters singlehandedly before he landed infront of the rather pale and scared elf from Loki familia.

"Are you ok, Leyfia-kun?" he asked as the elf eyed him with sheer amazement.

And as old enemies re-emerged on the 18th floor back in Orario, a young Bell Cranel had found himself in possession of a book, one handed to him by an innocent looking worker from the Hostess of Fertility.

He would fall asleep trying to read it, only to wake up to find one of his greatest wishes had been granted wish to be able to use magic.

Bell Cranel had obtained his first magic spell.

Firebolt.
