The day has finally arrived, MonsterPhilia, a city wide party sponsored by the Ganesha familia in hopes of integrating some sense of normalcy in the citizens of Orario so that they become used to monsters in a general sense.

This is especially true of the 'Xenos' (s3 of danmachi), a race of sentient and intelligent monsters who wish to leave the dungeon and some even hope to live amongst humans but such a dream has its own consequences as over the long period of time that Orario has been established, such a thing was not made possible due to both discrimination and greed over the monster core and materials.

As such MonsterPhilia is only a placeholder event with not much worth for the Xenos goal under Ouranos' allowance but it is still a city wide celebration which has an allure of its own. Especially for the darker side of the city which has been waiting in anticipation for this day to come. A hidden evil god has commissioned his servants to raise monsters within the very sewers of Orario. Ready to be unleashed upon the unsuspecting citizens and adventurers of the city.

Though to our main character Axel, he is unaware of the situation and instead has taken out some of his nicer clothes which is a blue green striped polo shirt and a fitting white set of short slacks. He has dressed up like this in preparation of his date with his goddess. He has already had the chance to go clothes shopping beforehand, especially since his rapid growth spurt in a physical sense.

Compared to his semi elegance, Minamoto-no-Raikou has instead chosen a set of gym style clothing as her date clothes. Raikou and Axel look towards the direction of the first explosion. What nobody notices is that Axel's blue eyes quickly shift to red before becoming normal. Raikou grabs both Axel and Syr and jumps up on top of a building. Her clothes quickly change into armor with a sword and bow on her body. The same outfit she wore to the immortal conference.

She begins to rush towards the explosion while Axel is about to follow along with Syr grabs his hands. She has a bit of panic on her face due to suddenly being brought up here. "Won't you keep me safe?" She pleads while Axel says, "Just stay here, ill know where to find you. The faster we find the source of the problem, the faster we can end this situation and then settle down."

He tries to explain for her to stay but she is just shaking as she is not a proper adventurer like him, she has no falna. She can only sulk in her unhappiness and talk to Freya to explain the situation as Axel begins to jump from building to building to catch up to Raikou as she has taken to fighting with the plant monsters that have escaped from the sewers.

In another part of the city, a young white haired boy is hanging around with his guild advisor as they toured the festival when the monster outbreak arose. The young boy brings his advisor with him as he tries to also find his own goddess to protect her since he remembers that they planned to meet up sometime soon. He has his standard guild knife with him and is able to ward off the various tendrils sent his way but struggles to actually defeat them as he can't truly pierce through them.

As time passes, more equipped adventurers arrive and begin to take the monsters down and in all the chaos, he is able to meet with Hestia and is awarded with a special runic knife commissioned by his goddess for his sake.

Shortly after the knife is attuned to the young boy named Bell Cranel a plant monster breaks out from under them and after they are thrown off in the surrounding ground with luck having it that no larger pieces of the floor have crushed them from the monster breaking through. Bell Cranel fights off the initial attacks of the monster and finds his knife can now pierce through the tendrils and even cut them.

He goes on the offensive as they were currently in a secluded area with less adventurers. After fighting for a few minutes Bell is finally able to slay the beast and get his goddess and advisor to safety at the guild.

Back to our hero, Axel has finally caught up to Raikou and both are in the thick of it as they are surrounded by beasties. Raikou is able to easily kill them but she is holding off so Axel could absorb as much Excellia he can from the monsters by absorbing their strength through gluttony.

He has already grown quite a bit and should be approaching S grade stats if his assumption is right (essentially high A to low S and he was still C grade with 2 Bs before he started fighting). The monsters themselves are not strong or deadly but they are numerous and possess newly made level 2 power which is why Axel can absorb so much.

After a few more minutes, they finally finish off the current group of plant monsters before finding the entrance to the sewers. They jump in and take down another group of 3 monsters before continuing further until they find a variant of those monsters.

A sizable plant monster with red leaves and pockets of seeds that shoot out more seeds that spawn into tiny flower monsters before absorbing waste and other nutrients from sacks of fertilizer before growing rapidly into the standard size plant monsters. The red plant looks like a combination of a red spider lily and a lima bean stalk with its seed pockets that explode to send out the newly born plants.

Axel and Raikou show no mercy and continue fighting through all the newborns before Raikou allows Axel to solely fight against the mother plant. He dodges a series of vines that are sent flying towards him. He then has to destroy some seeds that explode in his direction. When they landed on him, they latched on to try entangling him but his gluttony aspect just killed them immediately as they were too weak to even sustain their own life for a few seconds. He is sad that they don't have monster cores as he would have kept the mother plant alive for a money farm. So he is saddened that is not the case and that the monsters are closer to an infinite supply of weaker juggernauts.

Some veins pop out from Axel's body as he is reaching his limit on absorbing their unfiltered energy but far from painful as this isn't the dungeon's energy and instead is the world's general energy like other humans do. Axel currently has a higher chance of reaching mind poisoning than mind down right now which is why he has swapped to releasing a few flame waves at the flying seeds instead of absorbing them which reduces the strain on his body as he unleashes blow after blow upon the mother plant. His strikes get stronger as the fight continues before he finally lands the decisive blow on the mother plant which someone takes out the other lesser plants born from it.

Axel cleanses himself and rests a bit before Raikou informs him that there is more than one mother plant as during his fight, she had gone down the tunnel to find more lesser plants scurrying around. Axel nods and gets up to begin finding more. They spend the next few hours killing plant monsters and the spider lily mother plants. It's a similar feeling to what he experienced before he met the juggernaut but he isn't fully sure since it has only happened that one time.

They finally finish the fight as the night arrives. The Ganesha familia is working with the Loki familia to finish off the last of the lesser plant monsters that didn't die when their 'mother' died as Axel and Raikou make their way home. Axel doesnt forget to retrieve Syr who has gotten a bit dirty due to the remaining dust and stone in the air from all the plants breaking through the ground.
