danmachi: the gamer mage in the dungeon

Chapter 2: wishes

MC POV

Ugh.

Grabbing my head, I groaned as I slowly got up from the bed, opening my eyes for a moment, only to realize I was in a completely different place than where I had fallen asleep. The room had white walls and a white ceiling—everything was white. I looked down at myself and realized that my legs—or rather, where they were supposed to be—were gone. It was as if I had no legs. Noticing this, I wanted to figure out what was going on.

As I stood, I didn't feel my weight. Pushing myself forward, I saw an elderly man, around 50 to 60 years old, with a medium-length beard and hair tied into a small ponytail.

"So, you've decided to get up," the old man said, glancing at me.

"W-where am I?" I stammered, asking.

"You're dead," the old man said, turning his gaze slightly toward something that looked like a window.

"So, what happens now?" I asked, looking in the same direction as the old man.

"Normally, you'd already be reincarnated, but I don't know where to send you," he said, turning to face me. "I want you to make the decision. You have three wishes."

"Can I go to a fantasy world?" I asked, looking at the old man, who simply nodded in response. I began to think about which anime world I'd want to be in. After some time, I narrowed it down to three choices:

NarutoDanmachiFullmetal Alchemist

After a short moment, I decided to eliminate the first and third options, leaving Danmachi.

"I'd like to go to the world of Danmachi—or Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon," I said softly to the old man, who simply stood up and snapped his fingers.

"Done," he replied, and after a brief moment, he added, "Now, your wishes." The old man looked me in the eyes.

"Can I choose what I look like? My gender, etc.?" I asked, looking at the old man.

"No," he replied in a raspy voice.

"I'd like to make my first wish," I said almost immediately after his response, quickly adding, "I want to customize my appearance and name." As soon as I said that, the old man snapped his fingers, and a dark blue window appeared in front of me. After quickly filling it out, it read:

Name: Arthur Morgan

Hair Color: Snow White

Right Eye: Emerald Green

Left Eye: Emerald Green

Private Details: [Redacted]

After finalizing my name and appearance, I thought about my second wish and chose, "I want a gamer system but with two enhancements."

As I spoke, the old man looked at me. "What enhancements do you want?" he asked curiously.

"First, I want it to have a shop feature—for swords, even guns—from basic iron to the rarest ores. Second, I want it to be able to update fallen enemies," I said. The old man nodded and snapped his fingers.

"For my third and final wish, I'd like a mana core from The Beginning After the End. But I want to choose five normal elements and one deviant element—excluding Augmenters and Conjurers."

The old man nodded, but before he could ask which ones, I added, "I want the elements of fire, wind, ice, lightning, and gravity."

As I finished, the old man simply snapped his fingers. Then, grabbing me by the shirt I was wearing, he dragged me toward something that looked like a mix between a gate and a door. He opened it, revealing a burst of colors—white, black, blue, green, purple, and red. Before throwing me in, he said:

"Good luck in your next life. You're going to need it."

Before I could respond, I was tossed through the door, and everything went dark.
