Chapter 11: Chapter 11: The Intention Of The Loki Familia
Riveria's favor panel is significantly stronger than Lulu's, and her two runes in the skill panel were learned from the rune magic that Sol provided. These are not real, complete rune stones but rather a partial understanding derived from them—a fragment of the truth captured within the runes. While their effects are somewhat diminished compared to the original runes, the requirements for use remain high, and only a select few within the entire family can master them.
For a mage like Riveria, these runes have provided a substantial boost to her abilities. In all of Orario, save for those two formidable Level 7s, few would dare to challenge Riveria's magic.
After updating the favor, Sol took out a piece of parchment to record its details. Riveria adjusted her blanket to cover her chest before taking the parchment to inspect it. Despite over a month of training, her abilities had only improved incrementally.
"Durability raised to C—quite a pleasant surprise," she noted with satisfaction.
"As a mage, Riveria, your strength and durability are already impressive," Sol remarked, knowing that, as a spellcaster, Riveria typically served as a defensive force in their adventures. In battle, she had plenty of resilient warriors to stand before her and guard her position, and she was well aware of her role within the team.
Nevertheless, the slight attribute boost brought her joy. As the sole head of her family, Riveria's desire for power even surpassed what she had felt among the Loki Familia in the original story. After a brief look, she tossed the parchment into the stove, watching until it burned to ash. Given the secrecy of her level within the guild, it wouldn't do to leave any record of her favor.
"It seems I nearly forgot our business," she said, refocusing. "The guild has plans to strike against the Erebus Familia."
"Oh? So, Oraunos has finally decided to make a move? That explains why Astraea's child visited recently."
"Yes. I wanted your thoughts on it," Riveria replied.
"Are you inclined to join in?" Sol asked, lying back comfortably as he observed her with amusement.
"Eliminating the Erebus Familia, the leaders of the dark faction, would be beneficial for us."
"Are you sure you want to take part?" Sol repeated, his tone insistent.
Understanding Sol's intent, Riveria nodded. "We'll proceed, but cautiously."
To put it plainly, this would be an open clash between the forces of light and darkness. Win or lose, the balance of power in Orario was bound to shift, and while smaller families might remain neutral, powerful ones like the Sol Familia would likely face consequences in the aftermath. If the battle intensified, they would be compelled to choose sides before it even concluded. Better to take the initiative, choosing a side strategically, and seize this chance to enhance their standing.
The two Level 7s of the dark faction now seemed to be the ideal targets for Riveria's advancement. After this incident, Orario would likely enter a lasting period of peace.
"The next time someone brings any news, direct them to me immediately."
Without waiting for Riveria's agreement, Sol took advantage of her momentary distraction, quickly pulling down the blanket covering her chest and throwing the unprepared elf onto the bed with surprising agility.
…
Days passed swiftly since the last visit from the Astraea Familia. Sensing the underlying crisis, even the usually brazen and domineering dark factions had quieted. Orario enjoyed a rare period of tranquility, with the streets notably peaceful.
But for those aware of the guild's plans, it felt like the calm before a storm. This unusual stillness only increased Riveria's sense of unease.
Nevertheless, she continued taking her family into the dungeon for their usual adventures, primarily focusing on Lulu's training. They kept to the upper and middle levels, both to hone Lulu's skills and avoid unnecessary risks. Whether due to natural talent or her own latent strength, Lulu's abilities had been growing rapidly, nearly daily. Her progress stirred both pride and envy among the other family members.
The quiet days didn't last, however. Upon returning to the family residence one day, Riveria spotted unfamiliar figures gathered in the hall: the red-haired goddess Loki and several key members of her familia—Finn, Gareth, and Gilatia, the last being a human female warrior at Level 5. Due to the world's correctional influence, Gilatia seemed to have taken the position once held by Riveria. But regardless, Riveria had far surpassed them now.
"Hey, your children are all here!" Loki greeted casually in her dialect, lounging on the sofa with a relaxed ease that suggested she was more at home here than anywhere else. Her narrowed eyes sparkled upon seeing Riveria, and if Gilatia hadn't restrained her, Sol had no doubt Loki would have rushed to her side.
"Loki, with such an excellent group of followers of your own, isn't it rude to gawk at Veria-chan in my home?"
"Shut up! Back when we went to Alf's Royal Forest, if you hadn't interfered, Riveria would have been with us!"
"Don't be delusional! Riveria was captivated by my charm, proving I'm simply superior to you!"
"You?! Don't make me laugh!" Loki stomped her foot in mock outrage, jabbing a trembling finger at Sol. With an amused grin, Sol tilted his head proudly, his height advantage letting him look down on Loki even while seated.
He gestured for Riveria to join him, and she took her place by his side.
"So, Loki, are you here for help or to discuss Erebus?" Sol asked straightforwardly.
The two had already discussed the matter earlier, but Riveria chose not to respond immediately.
"What's there to think about?" Loki pressed, slamming a hand on the coffee table. "Erebus has gone too far this time."
"As I said, I have no reason to get involved in your fight."
