...
The sound of a blade slicing through flesh echoed.
Then came the sound of "glug, glug."
Azu and Clark were stunned as they saw a human head rolling on the ground.
"That... that's Uncle Louis's head?!"
Clark's eyes widened in disbelief at the shocking scene in front of him.
Right after, they saw the zombie that had been chasing them, Louis, collapse heavily to the ground.
Lana, hiding in the deepest part of the room, didn't see the zombie's head being chopped off, but she sensed something familiar.
Thud! Thud!
Footsteps echoed, approaching Clark and the others.
Clark held his breath in nervous anticipation.
"Found you!"
A familiar voice rang in the ears of all three.
Azu immediately looked up in delight, and his eyes met Peter's familiar face.
"Dad!"
Azu excitedly threw himself at Peter, hugging him tightly.
Seeing his godfather arrive, the tension Clark had been holding onto finally eased.
Lana, on the other hand, stared blankly at Peter, who was holding a katana.
Peter's body was splattered with blood, emitting a strange smell.
Though a bit terrifying, the figure of Peter holding the katana gradually calmed the fear in Lana's heart.
Peter gripped the katana he had conveniently taken from Father Norma's house and, seeing that the three little ones were safe, let out a long sigh of relief.
After leaving Father Norma's place, he had immediately headed for the main hall.
But to his dismay, the hall had already become a sea of blood due to the zombie attack.
After learning the possible whereabouts of the kids from a worried Jonathan, his wife, and Nell, Peter had grabbed a blade and cut his way through the zombies.
Although he didn't know how to use a sword, his body, gradually becoming superhuman due to the influence of the wristwatch, made wielding the katana against zombies feel like slicing through butter.
"Are you okay, Azu? Clark and Lana, none of you were bitten, right?"
Peter checked Azu for any bite marks and asked Clark and Lana.
"No... no."
Lana, a bit embarrassed after Peter ruffled her hair and checked her body, stammered.
"That's good. Let's get out of here."
Peter tore his coat into strips, tying Lana and Clark to his back.
"Azu, you can keep up with my speed, right?"
After securing Lana and Clark, Peter turned to Azu.
Azu nodded firmly and said in a mature tone, "Yes, Dad. I'll protect you!"
Protect me?
Peter thought, With your on-and-off laser eyes, can you even give me protection?
"Alright, let's break out together, father and son."
"Like From Dusk Till Dawn?"
Peter shot him a glare. "Azu, we'll talk about you sneaking horror movies when we get out of here."
Azu's face immediately drooped.
Raising the katana, Peter spoke to Clark and Lana, who were strapped to his back, "Clark, Lana, close your eyes. We're starting now."
Slash!
Peter stepped out, swinging the katana at the charging zombie.
The roaring zombie was instantly sliced in half, and thick black blood splattered everywhere.
Facing another incoming zombie, Peter swung his elbow backward.
Boom!
A sound like cannon fire echoed as the zombie's body smashed into the ground with great force.
The impact created a deep crater, and shattered rocks rained down like water.
The once ferocious zombie's body was now shattered into pieces.
"Whoosh!"
The katana swung with lightning speed toward a third zombie, decapitating it instantly.
The zombie didn't even resist and was easily dealt with.
Azu stood nearby, stunned.
My dad is actually this powerful!
Clark, who was tied to Peter's back, was equally shocked, his mouth hanging open.
He had thought his godfather was just an ordinary person, but now, seeing him in action, it seemed like his godfather was scarier than the zombies!
Little Lana, who had been closing her eyes, felt blood splatter on her face.
Oh my god, that's blood!
She almost threw up.
Fighting the urge to vomit, she pressed her face tightly against Peter's back.
Lana could smell the stench of blood on her body—the sickening, sticky, metallic scent.
In her mind, gruesome images of Peter covered in blood flashed like a kaleidoscope.
Yet, for some reason, these violent images didn't make her afraid of Peter.
Instead, they gave her a sense of safety she had never felt before.
Crash!
Peter kicked open a door, only to be met by another zombie lunging toward him.
With a swift slash of the katana, thick blood splattered again.
Azu, standing nearby, was sprayed with filthy blood once more.
But this time, he didn't have an emotional breakdown like before. Instead, he sniffed the air, taking in the foul, blood-soaked smell.
"Dad, behind you! Watch out!"
Azu shouted when he saw a zombie sneaking up behind Peter.
At the same time, a laser beam shot from his eyes, slicing the attacking zombie in half.
Peter turned and saw the bisected corpse.
"Nice job, Azu!"
Glancing at his son, whose face was covered in blood, Peter praised him.
Though, in his mind, this scene reminded him of his son's disturbing moments from a past life.
Encouraged by the praise, Azu's determination surged. "I told you, Dad, I'll protect you!"
He aimed his laser eyes at another zombie charging toward them.
"Sizzle!"
The heat vision pierced through the zombie's chest, but even with its chest blown open, the zombie kept moving toward Azu.
Peter swung the katana again, slashing the zombie in half from top to bottom.
Poor Azu was once again drenched in blood.
Without taking time to comfort his son, Peter kicked open a side door in the main hall corridor, rushing into the fire escape.
Several bodies lay on the ground, but Peter moved quickly, heading toward the exit as fast as possible.
Any stray zombie that tried to block his path was swiftly decapitated.
The crackling sound of flames and the stench of blood filled the air.
Boom!
As Peter reached the entrance, an explosion burst out, and flames rushed toward him.
Peter immediately crossed his arms in front of his face to shield himself.
The fire roared against his arms.
Clark and Lana clung tightly to his back, while Azu was protected behind him.
Once the searing heat and impact subsided, the three of them slowly opened their eyes.
