Chapter 94: Hiro’s Great Opportunity
Oh no! Hiro's expression changed.
He realized that he was too naive—the fragments of the mirror were hidden in the void, and they most likely appeared because of the ongoing battle between the lords.
Who knows how many temporary spaces were created and how they would influence the nearby space?
As he thought about this, Hiro didn't hesitate to follow the direction of the mirror and teleport to the ground, standing under its reflected light.
Before his consciousness was sucked away by the mirror, Hiro summoned Hans and Medusa, tasking them with taking care of his physical body.
Then, he removed the synchronization effects, which allowed the acting force of the mirror to easily snatch away his consciousness into the mirror world.
…
It was a colorful world. A large stronghold that stretched to the end of one's vision, with a dense circle of fog surrounding its edge.
The moment Hiro appeared, he was standing on the peak of a tall building and looking into the distance.
[Notice: Detected the influence of faith energy.]
[Notice: You've successfully warded off the influence of faith energy.]
…
"As expected!" Hiro exclaimed, feeling the invisible, murky energy in the air. If not for his pool of faith energy, he'd have been contaminated quite easily.
However, this bit of faith energy can't overpower Hiro's faith energy, let alone the system's power.
Even if he lost the system one day, until that day arrived—he was the pinnacle in each and every field related to the system's functions.
With that in mind, Hiro looked at his accumulated achievement points for the past month.
The trip from the Asmir Stronghold to the Valdmor Stronghold was a long one, not to mention he stayed behind in the Decay Canyon while waiting for a chance to infiltrate the mirror world.
Thus, Hiro had been saving up achievement points for the past month, planning to use the Mass Enlightenment scroll in the mirror world.
However, he first needed to test something out.
"I wonder if brainwashing could be considered to have reduced the intelligence of these demons?" Hiro murmured to himself before he stepped out, jumping off the building.
With his current strength, descending a building was quite easy. In little to no time, Hiro found himself on the street.
Looking around, everyone was walking about and doing their own things with blank expressions.
At best, they would be murmuring things like, "Praise Lord Valdmor."
And, "Lord Valdmor is the one and only Demon King."
The more Hiro observed, the more convinced he was of faith energy's influence on a pure body of consciousness.
A body of consciousness was the direct link to the soul, so it wasn't hard to understand.
Hiro didn't have time to waste and thus, he approached a random passerby and directly used 1 achievement point to try and unlock their core intelligence.
A halo of golden light enveloped the dazed demon, slowly seeping into his body of consciousness.
Soon, his dull eyes flickered, and obvious signs of struggle appeared on his face.
The next moment, a torrent of faith energy in the surroundings rushed over, attempting to 'cleanse' away the foreign influence.
Hiro was shocked. A self-defensive mechanism? Hmm, it makes sense. However, I can tell that this is a rigid procedure, indicating that no one is controlling this treasure at the moment.
Wait, treasure? Hiro's eyes sparkled and he slapped his thigh. "How come I didn't think about this?!"
He almost spent over 130,000 achievement points using his Mass Enlightenment scroll on a large scale of 130 square kilometers, which would have dealt a heavy blow to Valdmor but not a decisive one.
However, he remembered that the system had an even more overbearing ability when it came to treasures—the system inventory.
As long as he found the core of this place and stored it away into his system inventory, then the system would automatically isolate this region from Valdmor's overbearing faith energy!
By relying on his demonic essence and laws alone, Valdmor wouldn't be an opponent to Asmir, becoming the weak link in the encirclement.
Thinking about it this way, Hiro's gaze shifted to the random demon, and his eyes glimmered.
"Fine, consider yourself lucky to have met me this day," Hiro murmured. Then, he reached out and tapped with his finger on the demon's forehead and spent 1,000 achievement points directly.
He used the Level 4 Enlightenment without hesitation!
Boom!
A tower of golden light enveloped the demon, gushing into his consciousness body.
His body began to tremble uncontrollably, clarity returning to his eyes.
Boom!
The entire mirror world shook, as more and more faith energy descended from the sky and onto this location.
Hiro's eyes shone brilliantly as he looked into the distance, a smile on his face. "Found it!"
This made things much easier. Thus, Hiro rushed in the direction of the incoming faith energy, where he was sure to find the source.
He was utilizing his movement arts to the limits, ignoring the demons on the way as he made it to the center of this illusory stronghold.
Hiro realized that every constitution in this space was one-dimensional, exposing the exterior of buildings with nothing on the inside.
Moreover, all the demons were walking on the streets and through the alleyways, but not a single one of them was indoors.
The more Hiro observed, the more he felt like this treasure was lacking in some aspects.
Perhaps, it was just a tool to store away souls and the consciousness of living beings, and everything else was a deliberate arrangement by Lord Valdmor.
As Hiro rushed over, no other demons seemed to have noticed the anomaly in the faith energy, which is easy to explain.
This treasure can't absorb the consciousness of powerful existences because their subconscious mind would defend against the influence, passively as well.
It explains why Hiro's consciousness was absorbed only after he removed the synchronization.
Furthermore, the treasure itself won't absorb the consciousness of someone so powerful, probably because Lord Valdmor had set it up this way.
As for the world inside, it was easy to understand if one factored in Valdmor's laws of illusions, which is a law derived from mirages and visual refractions.
Like this, Hiro easily made his way over to the source of faith energy—a massive mirror that hovered like an octagonal crystal in a location Hiro deemed to be a correspondent with the Demon Tower in reality.
However, Hiro didn't have the mind to admire this thing. He placed his hand on its surface, and the torrent of faith energy almost flooded his body of consciousness.
Luckily, it couldn't do that with the system's protection standing in its way, even if Hiro didn't have faith energy of his own.
Just as Hiro was about to store the item away, a sudden thought struck him. Can I transfer this faith energy to my universe hall if I use my gluttony physique?
Hiro's devouring talent worked on all forms of energy, and this energy followed a rigid set of rules, not being directly by an active entity.
Moreover, this wasn't divine energy or demonic essence of the greatest level, but recycled faith energy generated from the illusion and brainwashing effects!
Although the system mentioned to Hiro that faith energy generated under coercion, negative emotions, and brainwashing wouldn't be tolerated by it—this wasn't the system.
Demons had no bottom line. To them, faith was faith, regardless of the means used when harvesting it.
Also, the less faith energy stored inside this core, the fewer achievement points I'd have to spend when I finally take this thing away.
Thinking back to his experience with the dimensional core of that pocket space, Hiro had already made up his mind.
With a thought, his consciousness connected with the immaterial domain and formed a bridge with his consciousness body as a medium.
Then, he began to 'devour' faith energy in large quantities with his innate divine talent.
Boom!
Hiro's entire consciousness body turned into a black hole, siphoning away the faith energy in the octagonal crystal.
The effect was immediate!
Hiro could feel his talent stripping away the impurities, which were the imbued illusion laws, and directing pure faith energy into his body. Discover hidden stories at m,v l'e|m-p| y r
In turn, this energy descended from the sea of stars and into the universe hall, flooding the river of faith energy.
Thinking about it, his universe hall functioned like the Asmir Stronghold and the Valdmor Stronghold.
When he thought about this, Hiro looked at the octagonal crystal in front of him and wondered to himself. Could it be that this treasure isn't controlled by Lord Valdmor? Could he be using it as a medium to grasp the laws of this stronghold?
Hiro shook his head, refusing that idea. If that were the case, this treasure wouldn't be so weak. Honestly, it was such a stupid decision to keep his foundation in such a place, espionage when Hiro thought about how easily he infiltrated and destroyed it.
Then, he remembered that this would have been impossible if it weren't for a few factors such as the boss battle that disturbed the space, the system's protection, his possession of faith energy, and the innate divine ability…
Thinking about it carefully, Hiro could only come to one conclusion…
That Lord Valdmor is just fucking unlucky…
