Dragon forging
"Expected as much , ever since the fifth arrived the new worlds been going through changes over time." the admiral said surprising alex. 'did he notice the working of fate in the background?' he wondered as he looked at the admiral. "zorah created a lot of openings for the monsters further inland to make their way down to us so the whole food chain is in flux. you head out and see what you can find while we set up camp." the admiral said to freya who nodded and headed out into the recess.
Alex didn't follow her since he knew she would only find some of nergigante's spikes besides the three normal residents of the area. the rathalos subspecies wouldn't show up until later expeditions and alex had no need to go hunting for the residents today since he ate earlier. alex could in theory head over to where the hoarfrost reach was located to hunt for master rank monsters but something told him that was a very bad idea. fate likely wouldn't treat him very kindly if he were to just skip all of it's plans and ruin the future events like that.
Setting up the camp was very easy with alex there to help move the heavy or tall objects into place. there was a change in the look of the of the camp compared to the game as alex sent thin metal wires through the spines he had in the pile. this turned them into long bone poles that he leaned over the top of the entire small clearing before stitching the skins over them creating a large tent. the entire clearing was inside the massive tent which turned out to be a good call since the rain in this area was semi acidic.
"Nice work sid , this will keep us much less exposed to the elements." the admiral said with a grin. it was a bit dark under the tent but once alcina set up some braziers it got much easier to see. "hey sid think you could make me a dagger with that metal of yours?" the admiral asked and alcina perked up at this in interest. alex casually dropped his tail spike that was already very dagger like and pulled his block of metal over. the admiral was surprised that alex's spike came off and easily regrew but it was what happened next that really caught his interest.
Alex manipulated a small part of the metal to liquify before coaxing it onto the spike carefully covering a single edge and creating a metal handle. alex's eyes narrowed as he focused his attention on the part of the dagger to create a razor edge along with engravings of his own appearance along the sides of the blade with his tail coiling around to form the handle. the pommel was shaped like a tiny version of his tail spike as the finishing touch. alex breathed flame carefully over the new blade to temper it followed by a layer of water to slowly cool it down.
The final product was a little over a foot and a half long with a single straight edge and a single serrated edge. the detailed engraving on the handle and metal part of the blade along with the multicolored bronze of the dagger made it look like a piece of art work. once the dagger was cool the admiral took it and his eyes lit up as it was a perfect fit for his hand. alcina looked at the only dragon forged weapon on the entire planet in awe as the admiral tested it out on a spare bone from the pile.
The blade cut through the thick bone like butter without losing any of it's edge leaving even the admiral in awe of how good the weapon was. the admiral drew the dagger he had been using and calmly tossed it away into a nearby magma pit. "even the weapons you make are like elder dragons sid , i owe you one." the admiral said with a huge grin as he admired his new weapon. "could i get some table ware like that?" alcina asked with her biggest puppy dog eyes and the admiral burst into laughter.
