Chapter 28: Star Plasma Vessel
As a Star Plasma Vessel compatible with Tengen, her existence was known to Tengen shortly after birth, and her information was relayed to all relevant parties.
The mechanism known as Jujutsu High was set into motion.
To ensure the Star Plasma Vessel could fulfill her mission, she was raised as an important figure from a young age.
The Kuroi family, a lineage closely tied to Tengen, was entrusted with her care for generations.
Additionally, the higher-ups prepared a series of preventive measures.
In the shadows, the two major branches of Jujutsu High deployed professional operatives to form a formidable security force.
Subsequently, relevant personnel at Jujutsu High informed the Star Plasma Vessel herself, imposing travel restrictions and assigning close bodyguards.
This was both protection and surveillance.
Thus, the Star Plasma Vessel knew her fate from a young age.
The assimilation was scheduled for three days later, on the night of the full moon.
Minamoto Sōjun and his three companions gathered in the classroom early in the morning.
Masamichi Yaga once again briefed the three on their mission:
"Your task is to ensure the Star Plasma Vessel's safety. Three days from now, on the night of the full moon, escort her back to Jujutsu High on time and deliver her to Master Tengen."
"If you fail, the ordinary human world will also be affected. This mission cannot be taken lightly!"
Yaga's tone grew stern. He found himself in a trolley problem of his own—what was the right decision? He didn't know, and neither did anyone else. All he could do was take one step at a time and leave the choice to fate.
"Additionally, during the mission, you must fulfill all of the Star Plasma Vessel's requests!" he added, mentioning a new temporary directive from the higher-ups.
Yet, the classroom atmosphere was anything but tense. Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru were still debating Tengen's cursed technique.
Minamoto Sōjun leapt down from the desk where he'd been sitting and stretched. It was finally time to begin.
The world of jujutsu, with its long history, naturally had more than one faction.
There were jujutsu sorcerers who took it upon themselves to protect humanity, and cursed users who stood in opposition.
Where there is darkness, there is light—without it, how could justice and evil be defined?
Those who indulged in their desires or took pleasure in killing, especially through mass slaughter of non-sorcerers, were labeled cursed users by the jujutsu world, with Jujutsu High representing its authority.
Only the strong could claim to be righteous.
As such, cursed users and their organized groups were ultimately nothing more than rabble, unable to stand against the upper echelons of power.
Throughout history, cursed user groups were notoriously short-lived, but like weeds, when one was eradicated, another would spring up. They were a persistent scourge, difficult to fully eliminate.
The identity of the Star Plasma Vessel had already been exposed. Two major obstacles sought to take her life and prevent the assimilation:
The cursed user group "Q", whose goal was to disrupt Tengen's control and overthrow the existing jujutsu world. The religious group "Time Vessel Association," devout worshippers of Tengen who opposed the assimilation, considering the Star Plasma Vessel an impure intrusion into Tengen's purity.
The trio's mission was to protect her for three days, ensuring the assimilation proceeded undisturbed despite the opposition.
Jujutsu High's strongest force had been dispatched for this mission, including three Grade 1 sorcerers, one of whom possessed the Six Eyes—Gojo Satoru. This highlighted the mission's significance.
After reviewing the mission brief together, the group immediately began their preparations.
On the way:
"To be honest, this is pretty stressful, but since Master Tengen personally assigned us…" Geto Suguru spoke with evident respect for Tengen.
The other two, who weren't as reverent, gave casual replies.
"Why schedule this so tightly? Why not just bring the Star Plasma Vessel to Jujutsu High from the beginning?" Gojo Satoru grumbled, finding the situation troublesome.
"Her identity was better kept low-key before exposure. Once exposed, issuing an immediate mission was the best response they could manage," Minamoto Sōjun, experienced in frontline missions, remarked, expressing satisfaction with Jujutsu High's reaction time.
"Besides, the Time Vessel Association is just a non-sorcerer group; they're not worth much concern. We only need to stay vigilant against Group Q," Geto Suguru reasoned, deeming the mission relatively straightforward.
Though cursed user groups had become increasingly bold, their members' information was thoroughly documented, with detailed records. The upper echelons paid them little mind until they crossed a line—at which point, they were easily obliterated.
"Yeah, this should be fine. After all, we're the strongest," Gojo Satoru said nonchalantly, one hand in his pocket.
Geto Suguru nodded in agreement. "That's why Master Tengen entrusted this mission to us."
Minamoto Sōjun, stepping slightly behind, remained modest. He only considered himself very strong, not "the strongest."
The mission had barely begun, but with Gojo and Geto already raising flags, Sōjun felt a figurative cloud of bad omens looming.
"My thoughts are the opposite," Sōjun said, spreading his hands. "With our strength, Q isn't worth worrying about. The real issue is the Time Vessel Association. Though they're a non-sorcerer group lacking combat experience, they…"
He paused, gazing at the lines in his palm.
"...What about them?"
"They have money—and they don't hold back when spending it. They've already posted a high-reward bounty for the Star Plasma Vessel on the dark web," Sōjun said with a faint smile, pulling out his phone to log into a hidden website and showing the others.
The assassination bounty for the Star Plasma Vessel was prominently displayed at the top of the list.
Retrieving his phone, Sōjun's blood simmered with excitement. His short black hair grew slightly shorter, now just longer than a buzz cut. "We're no longer just dealing with two groups. We're up against the entire cursed user community."
Clenching his fists, he continued,
"No one knows who's taken the job or how many will come. That's the mission's greatest challenge."
Gojo and Geto appeared more serious, upping their vigilance.
But Sōjun, waving his hand dismissively, acted as if he didn't care. "By the way, this 'fulfill all her requests' clause—it's asking too much, isn't it?"
"Tch, what a hassle." He casually glanced at the other two. "Why not meet her and immediately take her back to Jujutsu High?"
Sōjun suggested.
Gojo nodded reflexively at the plan.
However, Geto hesitated. "Let's decide based on the situation?"
Sōjun didn't mind and didn't push. Instead, he casually remarked, "Speaking of which, the Star Plasma Vessel is only 14 years old, right? Currently attending the Renchoku Girls' Academy?"
Fourteen—a youthful and rebellious age.
