Chapter 1577: Refugees
As the small confrontation between the Blue Sea Empire and the Star Shattering Sect entered a stalemate with neither party willing to go any further than blocking resources from reaching each other's territories, the Blue Sea Empire could only ignore it for now, as they had to deal with the much more urgent threat of the demonic cultivators trying to encroach on their borders. Especially given that it was clear that they wouldn't accomplish anything from enacting a blockade on cultivation resources going into the Star Shattering Sect's territory.
Not just because it was a hidden ancient sect that could sustain itself without any problems, but also because they couldn't stop the Explorer Union from continuing trade with the Star Shattering Sect.
Even if some from the Blue Sea Empire wanted to step in and force the Explorer Union to stop, they also understood that doing so might place them in an even more dangerous situation, as they could potentially end up being faced with attacks from three sides at the same time.
Of course, if they had known that the Star Shattering Sect wasn't an ancient hidden sect and couldn't rely entirely on internal resources, it would have been a different, but luckily, Elder Song had managed to smoothly deal with the situation before any problems that might get noticed by the Blue Sea Empire popped up.
Still… The threat remained for the Star Shattering Sect and Elder Song wasn't one to allow such obvious weaknesses to remain. Wasting no time as he began searching for ways to ensure that the Star Shattering Sect didn't end up running into similar problems in the future.
After all, the Explorer Union couldn't always be relied on to meet the Star Shattering Sect's resource needs.
For now, it was fine, but that was only because the required resources were of a low level. When it started to involve cultivation resources Mystic Grade or Domain Lord Realm, it would become difficult to continue buying resources from the Explorer Union.
For this reason, the first thing Elder Song began focusing on after the situation inside the sect had stabilized was looking towards expanding the already established spiritual herb fields and other resource rich locations that could help produce the future cultivation resources required by the sect.
The focus being the already established spiritual metal mines in the Iron Sky Kingdom and former Azure Sky Kingdom along with the spiritual herb fields on the Ninth Star Peak.
The recently established spiritual fruit trees were also something he wanted to further expand but considering that spiritual fruit trees weren't exactly easy to find, he could only give up on this idea and silently hoped that Xuan Hao would find more of these spiritual fruit trees in the future. After all, spiritual fruits would always be in high demand, being especially popular amongst certain people who enjoyed their taste and would eat them even if the beneficial effects from the fruits no longer helped their cultivation.
…
While Elder Song was going over different ways to ensure that the Star Shattering Sect would be able to procure its own cultivation resources in the future without having to rely on an intercontinental trade partner like the Explorer Union, Xuan Hao peacefully continued comprehending the Dao of Ice on the Second Star Peak.
Given that the Blue Sea Empire didn't show any intention of escalating the situation any further for now, there wasn't any threat to the Star Shattering Sect in the foreseeable future.
Even if the demonic cultivators were to some extent a threat to the Star Shattering Sect and they were in constant battles with them, there was already a kind of silent agreement with the stronger demonic cultivators that they wouldn't interfere with each other.
Although it was doubtful how long this would last, it shouldn't change before there was any major changes in their battle with the Blue Sea Empire.
There was even a chance that they would leave the Star Shattering Sect completely alone even if they ended up winning against the Blue Sea Empire given the sect's current identity as a hidden ancient sect.
Because of all this, the Star Shattering Sect continued staying peaceful amidst the constant battles taking place among their neighboring kingdoms, causing a large influx of refugees to surge into the territory of the Star Shattering Sect to avoid the chaos spreading through these kingdoms and the demonic cultivators that ran rampant whenever they managed to successfully breach the borders established by the cultivators from the Blue Sea Empire and the local kingdom. It was not to say there was no battles at the borders of the Star Shattering Sect, it was just that the battles at the borders of the Star Shattering Sect was isolated to the borders, with almost no demonic cultivators managing to step into the territory of the Star Shattering Sect… And those who did manage to do so would end up dead within a few days before causing any real problems.
The influx of people into the territory of the Star Shattering Sect was both a good and a bad thing, as it increased the pool of people that the sect could draw from when recruiting disciples in the future, while at the same causing instability due to the large number of people involved coming over to settle down somewhere within the Star Shattering Sect's territory.
In the end, this caused many smaller refugee cities and towns to spring up along the borders of the sect's territory. Forcing the different smaller powers under the Star Shattering Sect into action before these new people ended up presenting a potential threat to the small territories, they had managed to carve out for themselves.
After all, the refugees did not only contain mortals but also contained some smaller and weaker cultivation clans and powers who had decided to relocate to the Star Shattering Sect's territory in hope of finding better opportunities and avoid being dragged into the seemingly never ending battle with the demonic cultivators.
