Chapter 11: Realization
It was a very complex task to create an artifact that was capable of enhancing ones magical power.
The basic concept was to have a artifact absorb the mana that one was going to be utilizing in their spell and have it strengthened by the mana already residing within the artifact.
Such artifacts normally have the form of a wand, but in this case Cades was planning on creating it in the form of a ring due to a Lack of Materials.
The task was resolved even quicker than the process of making the sword and cades soon wore a dark violet ring which would allow him to better focus his magic power and even prepare some spells in advance by carving their sequences onto the "wand" itself, using that very "wand" as a medium to instantly utilize these few specific spells.
Cades had carved some simple but useful spells onto his "wand", namely a powerful telekinesis spell, a fire spell and a freezing spell, the same that he used on the thomiside, it was a spell that cools down the surrounding air to temperatures far below freezing.
After all of that Cades took a break and simply laid down for a bit on the dirt ground to get some actual sleep instead of just being unconscious.
As he came to a rest he finally realized... everything.
There was no denying it anymore.
It was all gone, everything he had achieved.
He had been in a shocked state but now he found himself suffering.
As he laid there, on the cold dirt floor, under the roots of the ancient goliath tree he didn't think about revenge, he didn't think about anything.
He simply cried.
The pain was more than enough to rip his heart to pieces.
His parents, dead.
His friends, dead.
His future, gone.
In this state he went through the entire night.
The next day, nothing had changed, he was still in as much pain as he was the day before.
But he knew that he had to move before a monster followed his scent.
Cades stood up, with dry eyes, having no more tears to cry and started walking without thinking, he was truly just moving forward.
He had no goal, he wanted it all back.
And if he couldn't have it back, he wanted to destroy whoever had caused it.
He had not idea what it was that he had been feeling, but whatever it had been, now it had transformed into pure unbridled fury.
He wanted to completely, violently, relentlessly destroy everything and everyone that was at fault.
If he hadn't been alone, he would've lashed out at everyone.
While he was walking he saw a dark brown spider as big as a small horse, it had eight legs, eight eyes, was hairy and its fangs were dripping with venom.
It was a "anelosimus eximimus" a rare giant spider species that travels in packs and covers everything with their cobwebs, they are also known for devouring prey many times their size using their superior numbers.
In a single colony there could be thousands.
And they all serve one queen.
The queen of an eximimus colony is a being of the apex rank, also known as the tenth sequence.
Cades himself was of the fifth sequence when he was on ehetria, though right now he was more so akin to a seventh sequence after crafting his artifacts and absorbing the power of the thomiside.
The queen was still far beyond his own power.
However, a single eximimus was a rather simple and weak opponent for him to fight against.
When one killed an eximimus there was a very big chance that the entire swarm would hunt the killer down, so nobody in their right mind would ever attempt to kill one.
Cades was not in his right mind.
As the spider saw him it instantly began running towards him, not even thinking about getting any support from the other members of it's pack.
Cades simply used his new rings telekinesis spell to lift it into the air, after which he used his new empowered fire spell and burned the huge, squirming insect alive.
If he didn't have his new ring, that would not have been possible for him.
Instead, he would've struggled to cast the spells he wanted to cast fast enough and instead fought against the monster with his own body.
After he had killed the monster a violet string of mana came out of it and once more descended onto the region where his mana organ was located.
He felt how the mana strengthened his body and even his magic efficiency itself once more.
This feeling of growing stronger was truly exalting.
It helped Cades not only physically but also mentally.
He felt that he was actually going forward, that something was happening.
Sadly the materials were unusable because they had all been burning while Cades was just standing there lost in his own thoughts once again.
While reinstating his resolve to get revenge he simply started walking forward.
He now knew that there were no sentient beings on this planet.
There was only one planet in the warp system that was directly connected to ehetria, that had both eximimuses and thomisides.
He was on trumal, specifically one of the most well known regions on that very planet.
The "arak-region".
Cades knew the arak-region very well, he studied it a lot when he was smaller.
Actually, he had studied most regions like that when he was still young.
Back when everything was perfect.
The arak-region was known for being a nesting place for all kinds of arachnid monster that could be utilized in the making of many different kinds of artifacts.
He had been obsessed with such regions because the young Cades thought that he may one day need to travel here with a group of warriors to gain a specific material.
Of course the warriors could just bring him the corpse, but most warriors weren't exactly careful or capable when it came to dissecting monsters or collecting special materials found in nature.
The arak-region was a island, a island that was located right next to another one where the warp train was located.
It was like a big bowl, a giant forest full of ancient goliaths, covered with rivers and surrounded by imposing, majestic mountains on all sides.
Cades now knew that he would be able to go there, to the warp train, as soon as he recovered the use of his wings.
At least that's what he thought at first.
