Crossing To The Primitive With A Game Panel

Chapter 71 - That Person

For the past two or three days, the Great Drift Lu Yu and and the others have visited several islands, except for the one Wu Li warned them not to go to. Surprisingly, they almost gathered all the materials needed to upgrade the village, except for the Phoenix Wutong wood.

While wandering elsewhere, Lu Yu also saw the people of that island. They were tall and sturdy, but compared to the martial strength of the Matais and the people of the three major tribes Lu Yu had seen before, they were just average.

So, Lu Yu was more concerned about the people of the three major tribes than that island.

And the peculiar teenager, after Lu Yu exchanged ten crabs with him, disappeared. No one from the three major tribes came to find them again, which seemed like a good thing, indicating they hadn’t attracted attention. But Lu Yu couldn’t shake off a sense of unease.

One noon, Lu Yu and Tai Lie returned from the beach, finding someone waiting anxiously at their door. It was Zhou Lang, and Lu Yu guessed he had come to collect what they promised.

Sure enough, as soon as Zhou Lang saw him, he hurried over, eagerly asking, “You’re back?”

Lu Yu raised an eyebrow slightly. “Is this about our previous deal?”

Zhou Lang replied gruffly, “Of course! Why else would I come? Hurry up and do it.”

His tone wasn’t good, which annoyed Shan Pu and the others. Shan Pu clenched his fists and said, “Be polite!”

Zhou Lang hesitated and softened his tone a bit. “I’m a bit pressed for time. Can you do it now?”

It wasn’t that he was afraid of Shan Pu; it was just that his father had specifically instructed him to be polite to this people. He had forgotten about it in his haste, but Shan Pu’s reminder brought it back to mind.

Since it was a promised deal, Lu Yu naturally wouldn’t intentionally make things difficult. As he walked towards the wooden hut, he nodded. “Alright.”

Zhou Lang was delighted and followed him eagerly. However, when he was about to step into the shed, he was stopped and asked to wait by the campfire. Zhou Lang wasn’t pleased, but he managed to suppress his temper and obediently waited by the fire.

Lu Yu took out utensils and some vegetables and meat from the ring, preparing almost everything before heading out. The campfire was burning brightly, and large stone pots and plates were neatly arranged to the side.

Knowing Lu Yu’s preferences, the Matais had even moved several large stones, flattened them, and set them up as cooking table, complete with cutting boards and basins.

Lu Yu had a similar cooking table when he was in the Matai village, which was even more refined than this temporary one, almost like a traditional stove. So, he was accustomed to it and found it very handy.

He was so adept and calm that Zhou Lang found it quite astonishing. There weren’t as many ingredients the last time he came.

“These are all for cooking?” Zhou Lang picked up a bone knife with a wooden handle.

Lu Yu didn’t like others, especially those with not-so-friendly, touching his kitchen utensils. He quickly took the knife back from Zhou Lang’s hand. “Just watch from the side and don’t disturb me.”

Though curious, Zhou Lang didn’t get angry and just smirked, move to the side.

In the end, Lu Yu made peasant soup, cumin lamb chops, stir-fried beef fillet, stir-fried vegetables, and honey-coated fruits. The colorful and aromatic dishes were placed on the stone table, making Zhou Lang and the others drool.

Lu Yu wiped his hands with leaves. “With so many dishes, we won’t let you go without plates.”

“We brought them.” Zhou Lang waved his hand, and the person behind him stepped forward.

They were well-prepared. The person took out the jade plates Zhou Lang had mentioned before from the grass basket behind him.

Lu Yu thought it was indeed a piece of complete jade, although not as translucent and clear as one would expect, it was still beautiful. Zhou Lang had mentioned before that their cook used this jade as a frying pan, which Lu Yu found amusing. But if it was used as tableware, it wasn’t funny at all; Lu Yu quite liked such beautiful tableware.

He couldn’t help but take another look.

Zhou Lang returned happily to his wooden hut, where his father, Zhou Shan, was already waiting.

“Got the food?” Zhou Shan asked.

Zhou Lang, with a hint of pride, had someone bring the food over.

Zhou Shan opened the basket and took a glance, inhaling. “Good stuff.”

Zhou Lang didn’t argue. He had sneaked a little taste on the way, and it was so delicious that he almost lost his tongue. He even considered being a bit nicer to that person in the future and continue exchanging goods for food.

“All right, while the food is still warm, let’s go see the Witch,” Zhou Shan said.

Zhou Lang’s eyes lit up. “Okay.”

The Dao Ma Tribe had moved to the inner part of Stone City, where their living quarters were much more spacious and sturdy. However, compared to the wooden houses specifically built for the Witch by the three major tribes, theirs was nothing.

On an open space, a small and exquisite tree house was built on a tree of unknown age.

After multiple notifications, Zhou Shan and Zhou Lang were granted permission.

The two of them carefully climbed up to the tree house.

The interior of the tree house was well-lit, with dappled shadows casting on the wooden walls, creating a beautiful scene.

Zhou Lang shivered inexplicably. Despite the hottest weather, he felt a bit cold as he stepped into this warm and beautiful wooden house.

A person walked out from behind the partition in the middle of the wooden house and lazily lay on the wooden couch, eyes closed, resting. “What are you here for?”

Zhou Lang swallowed hard.

How could this person…

“We’ve come to bring food to the Witch.” Zhou Shan smiled and said a few words before pushing Zhou Lang forward. “Hurry up and put the food away for the Witch.”

Zhou Lang stumbled forward, but he managed to steady himself in time and walked unsteadily to the small wooden table, taking out the dishes Lu Yu had made from the basket behind him and placing them carefully.

The person opened their eyes.

Zhou Lang stepped back, obediently lowering his head and not daring to look up.

After a while, he suddenly heard a soft chuckle from the front.

“It seems I’ve met a fellow countryman here.”

At night, after dinner, Lu Yu and Tai Lie gathered around the campfire with others to discuss matters and exchange information.

Xia Cao stayed in the Stone City today to gather information and prepare supplies. After listening to Lu Yu’s observations about other islands today, she continued, “This afternoon, Mao Pu came to tell us something.”

Lu Yu asked, “What’s the matter?”

Xia Cao replied, “Mao Pu said that the Witch of the three major tribes has returned. Actually, even if he didn’t say it, we would have known because all the surrounding tribes are talking about it.”

Lu Yu asked, “Has anyone seen him?”

“No one has seen him. The three major tribes are keeping him well guarded, but people around are still excited,” Xia Cao replied.

Shan Pu interjected, “What’s there to be excited about?”

Xia Cao smiled, “That’s the Witch. How can they not be thrilled?”

Shan Pu retorted, “Hmph, we also have a Witch, and ours is even more powerful than theirs.”

Like standing on a giant rock, Shan Pu loudly announced to everyone that they have a Witch, and he’s the most powerful one. Not only can he make pills, build villages, and find treasures, but he can also make many delicious dishes.

Shan Pu wasn’t one to boast, but ever since they arrived here, the people around, upon hearing Zhou Lang say they come from a remote small tribe, always seemed to look down on them, even though they kept coming to ask Lu Yu to process their meat. Shan Pu felt a bit unhappy about it.

Lu Yu patted his head.

Xia Cao continued, “Besides that, I’ve heard that the tribal battle is starting the day after tomorrow.”

Lu Yu asked, “Tell me more.”

Xia Cao organized her thoughts, “The tribal battle is a fight between tribes, with teams of ten. The specifics seem to vary each time, and this year, the battlefield is on the barren land.”

Upon hearing the words ‘barren land,’ Lu Yu’s expression darkened. This place was the same one Wu Li mentioned, their tribal gathering ground known as the Barren Land.

Xia Cao frowned, “It seems not many tribes want to participate from the Beast Plain, but…”

Lu Yu asked, “But what?”

Xia Cao hesitated, “But it seems like the three major tribes are all going. It’s said that in recent years, the three major tribes have trained many powerful warriors and are very confident about winning the tribal battle.”

Lu Yu remembered the peculiar teenager he had seen before; in terms of physical appearance, he did indeed seem very formidable.

Shan Pu exclaimed excitedly, “King, Lu Yu, let’s participate too!”

Lu Yu and Tai Lie exchanged glances and pondered for a moment. “We’ll go to observe first and not participate for now,” Lu Yu decided.

Shan Pu sighed disappointedly.

At night, Lu Yu entered the dream training ground and suddenly saw the new feature added after the last upgrade: the Multiplayer Training Ground.

Lu Yu hesitated for a moment, then selected it.

The avatars of Tai Lie and the others appeared.

Lu Yu selected Tai Lie, Shan Pu, Le Shui, Xia Cao, and a few others.

After making his selection, he pushed open the door of the control room and walked out.
