Crossing To The Primitive With A Game Panel

Chapter 66 - Opening Of The Sea

Lu Yu muttered, “Is this… the Great Drift?”

Tai Lie: “Yes.”

Lu Yu almost thought he wasn’t standing on solid ground, but on a huge ship. He looked down and kicked the soil with his foot a few times.

Tai Lie’s eyes flashed a hint of amusement. He couldn’t help but reach out and pat Lu Yu’s head. “We’re still standing on the same land.”

Lu Yu stopped acting lively and embarrassedly smiled. His previous behavior seemed a bit silly. “It’s my first time encountering the Great Drift.”

“Yeah,” Tai Lie said, “Let’s go back to sleep. We’ll see more tomorrow.”

Lu Yu nodded. “Okay.”

Tai Lie gave another order, telling everyone to come out and see the excitement, and all the Matais outside on the empty ground obediently went to sleep.

Lu Yu entered the dream training ground. Perhaps because the Great Drift had finally arrived, he was a bit excited tonight. Unable to calm down to train, whenever he tried, his mind would wander to other things, and his body would involuntarily stop. Since he couldn’t focus, Lu Yu didn’t force it.

He had been busy here recently, only making a quick trip back to the village before hastily returning. He hadn’t had the chance to visit the Valley, so he decided to go to the Valley people’s training ground to inquire about recent developments.

Lu Yu first entered the dream training ground of an elderly person from the Valley. Although he was old, this elderly person also wanted to learn something, so Lu Yu arranged a relatively easy sewing project for him.

This was the first time Lu Yu had entered the old man’s dream training ground, which startled him.

Lu Yu hurried over and helped the old man sit down. “Are you okay?”

The old man, recognizing Lu Yu, breathed a sigh of relief and waved his hand. “I’m fine, I’m fine.”

Lu Yu smiled. “Don’t be afraid. I’m just here to see you and ask you some questions.”

The old man thought he had something important to discuss, so his expression became serious. “Go ahead.”

Lu Yu quickly assured him that there was nothing serious and then asked about the recent situation in the Valley.

The old man replied that everything in the Valley was fine. They had made many new things, and they even visited the newly constructed Matai village during the day, which they found impressive and fascinating.

The old man paused for a moment and added, “Recently, those of us learning tailoring have started to learn something called ‘weaving.’ New tools have appeared in the learning area, such as ‘brick guards,’ ‘tubular bone needles,’ ‘weaving knives,’ and ‘thread winding rods.’ They all seem to be tools to help with weaving, but the materials needed for weaving… we’re lacking in that department.”

Weaving, of course, requires thread, and the production of thread requires cotton.

Lu Yu hadn’t seen wild cotton yet.

After some thought, Lu Yu said, “Okay, I understand. I’ll think about it. Maybe we can try to exchange cotton or cotton seeds during the upcoming large-scale trading event in the Great Drift.”

The old man continued, “There’s one more thing. Ah Hu and a few others have built rafts and small boats…”

Lu Yu had previously said that this wasn’t necessary for now, but Ah Hu and the others couldn’t sit still after making many wooden planks. The old man seemed a bit uneasy mentioning it, fearing that Lu Yu would be upset if he heard that Ah Hu and the others didn’t follow his instructions.

Lu Yu certainly wasn’t upset. He had just mentioned it casually. What they wanted to build was entirely up to them, and boats would definitely come in handy in the future. They could just leave them there; they wouldn’t go to waste.

The old man breathed a sigh of relief.

After chatting with him for a few more moments, Lu Yu left.

He then went to find Ah Hu, mainly to praise him for his skill in building boats. He also reminded them to learn how to use the boats properly, even though they could swim.

Ah Hu and the others readily agreed.

After leaving the dream training ground, Lu Yu slept well.

The sun timidly peeked out from the eastern mountains.

Lu Yu got up from the grassy bed and as soon as he stepped out of the door, Shan Pu rushed over excitedly.

“Lu Yu, I saw many people heading out of the city, and I heard that the slaves from the commission area went to work last night.”

Lu Yu nodded. “Alright, let’s eat something and then go take a look.”

“Okay!”

In fact, a few days ago, wooden huts had been erected near the sea not far from Stone City. Wooden signs had even been placed along the road from the sea to guide people, as tribes from outside would soon come to Stone City.

The exchange area in Stone City had been bustling these past two days, with not a patch of empty ground left.

Lu Yu and his group didn’t set up wooden huts or rent space in the trading area because they had a clear goal: to actively exchange rather than wait for others to come to them.

After upgrading the village, Lu Yu had already checked the special materials needed for the next upgrade. This time, the special materials not only included sakura wood and rose red stones like last time but also several new ones.

They were the Phoenix wutong wood, Nile stone, and seren bone. Apart from the materials needed for village upgrades, Lu Yu also needed to exchange cotton and some other useful crop seeds, such as wheat, sugar beets, soybeans, etc. Personally, Lu Yu also wanted to exchange some special foods, such as seafood from some island countries… Thinking about it, there were quite a few things they needed to exchange.

Lu Yu went through their possessions several times. He wondered if it would be enough…

After breakfast, they lifted the rafts and followed the crowd towards the beach. Since it was the first day, they didn’t bring much supplies, mainly going to explore the route, gather information, and, of course, to see the excitement…

The beach they went to last time to collect materials was actually a small one, the closest to Stone City, but not the widest. The widest one was further down from this small beach.

They walked a bit further.

The towering rocks by the roadside gradually became lower, revealing the vast blue sea behind.

Finally, they arrived. Lu Yu brushed aside the leaves, and his eyes suddenly lit up.

White clouds, blue sky, azure sea, golden sand.

Rows of seabirds flew overhead. In the sunlight, the scene was dazzling.

However, a thick white fog covered the sea, as high as a small mountain and not dispersing, looking like a giant cotton candy pressed against the sea.

But it didn’t hinder the brightness of the beach.

If the previous small beach was like a fresh and beautiful rural girl, this place was like a gorgeous blonde beauty.

“Wow!” Shan Pu’s eyes widened, eager to rush to the beach.

Lu Yu stopped him. “Don’t be in a hurry.”

Now wasn’t the time to play in the water.

The beach was beautiful, but now, there were quite a lot of people.

Countless wooden huts were erected on the beach, some with only roofs, and various supplies were piled underneath, surrounded by guards.

Many small and large rafts were docked by the beach, also surrounded by people but none being used.

“Why hasn’t the fog dispersed yet!” complained a group of people behind Lu Yu.

Lu Yu looked at the ‘cotton candy’ mass.

According to the information they gathered, there would be dense fog on the sea on the first day of the Great Drift, but it would soon dissipate.

Just as he said that, a sudden gust of wind blew in from behind, rustling the leaves. The breeze swept past the crowd’s ears and headed towards the sea, directly dispersing the ‘cotton candy’ mass. The cotton candy scattered and fled, disappearing completely in a short while.

At the same time, the obscured scene was also revealed…

Lu Yu’s eyes slowly widened.

Five different-shaped corners of land appeared on the sea surface.

Some were covered with yellow sand, with hardly any green in sight; some were grasslands with only a few small trees; some were rolling hills…

Of course, this was just a corner; the further back, the more expansive the land.

“It’s the opening of the sea!!!” someone shouted loudly. The small rafts by the sea were ready to go in all directions. Several islands also had countless small rafts drifting over here.

Shan Pu could hardly contain his excitement and excitement. If it weren’t for the raft under his arm, he would have jumped up, “Lu Yu, let’s go see the other lands!”

Lu Yu nodded. The crowd arrived at the seaside. Shan Pu looked around, “Which land should we go to first?”

Lu Yu thought for a moment, pointing to the lush land, “Let’s go there first.” The materials they needed, except for the seren bone, looked like they had to be produced in land with abundant vegetation.

“Okay!”

Shan Pu and the others found an empty spot and put down the rafts they brought.

They had collected information before and knew that the lands were not directly connected, so they needed to use rafts as transportation. Lu Yu had let Shan Pu and others practice using rafts by the river. Maybe because of their strong physical fitness and good balance, they learned quickly. Lu Yu had checked on them once and felt they would have no problem participating in rowing competitions.

There were five rafts in total, and a total of thirty people came, so one raft could accommodate six people.

After everyone was seated, the Matai small boat team headed towards the unexplored land they had never reached before, following the current.

Lu Yu do not swim, or rather, he couldn’t swim at all. He had learned for a summer before, but he only learned to float face down with his limbs spread out on the water…

The coach said he was doing the dead man’s float, and the technique was to pretend to be dead, which was meant to scare people.

Later, Lu Yu gave up. He didn’t want to bother himself or the swimming coach anymore.

Now, on this very rudimentary and seemingly unreliable small raft, he was a little nervous.

The seating arrangement on their small raft was Lu Yu and Xia Cao on the left side, Tai Lie and another Matai person on the right side, Le Shui at the bow, and Shan Pu at the stern.

Lu Yu leaned towards Tai Lie.

Shan Pu, who was paddling at the stern, shouted, “Lu Yu, you can’t lean towards King so much! The raft will tip if it’s not balanced!”

“Oh.” Lu Yu moved back a bit, feeling somewhat wronged.

Just as he moved back, his hand was grabbed.

Lu Yu turned his head.

Tai Lie’s big hand enveloped his hand. “I’m here.”

Shan Pu smirked, “Oh, oh, oh~~”

“Yeah.” Lu Yu blushed, softly responding, then turned his head to glare at a certain ‘rooster’ crowing.

Shan Pu chuckled, shouted a couple of times, and paddled his wooden plank even faster. Le Shui in front also followed his pace.

Their small raft shot out like an arrow, followed closely by the other Matai small rafts.

After paddling for a while, they finally reached the shore of the target land…
