Crossing To The Primitive With A Game Panel

Chapter 5 - Wolf Attack

Tai Lie abruptly opened his eyes, grabbed a wooden stick, and stood up, taking two steps forward to block in front of the little ones’ grass bed.

All the Matai were awakened, grabbing their weapons and standing up one after another. Male Matai took the front position, followed closely by female Matai, without any hesitation.

Lu Yu hurriedly got up.

The little ones ran to his side, and one of the boys grabbed his arm, pulling him back urgently, “Witch, quickly come to the back to hide!”

Almost as soon as the boy’s voice fell, there was a wolf howl ahead.

“Ah-”

This wolf howl seemed to be a prelude, followed by a series of howls from the wolves.

Lu Yu’s heart pounded.

It’s a large wolf pack!

He looked forward. Despite the bright moonlight, the light was still too dim, and the Matai were too strong, standing in rows, blocking the entrance tightly. He couldn’t see anything clearly.

Lu Yu had no choice but to follow the little ones and retreat to a corner.

The wolf howls drew closer, and not long after, there were banging sounds of bodies colliding in front, followed by the angry shouts of the Matai and the howls of the wolves.

Lu Yu tried hard to distinguish the noisy sounds in the air.

The Matai were full of energy, while the wolf howls were starting to sound miserable.

The situation didn’t seem too bad, but Lu Yu quickly remembered that the Matai didn’t feel pain at all; they wouldn’t scream even if they were injured!

Lu Yu bit his lip, his nerves tense, his body stiff.

The little girl whom Lu Yu had fed some barbecue seemed to sense something and moved to his side, grabbing his hand. “Don’t be afraid, Witch. The wolves are here, but I’ll protect you.”

Lu Yu was taken aback, looking down at her. “Why?”

Why would she protect him?

Obviously, he was a stranger, and a stranger they had just met today, wasn’t he?

He had asked Tai Lie to protect him before, but he knew that was just a way to indirectly ask Tai Lie not to harm him. In a real emergency, he didn’t expect these Matai to lend him a hand.

But now, this little girl sincerely said she would protect him.

“I like the Witch,” the little girl said shyly, “And the Witch can save me, so I’m not afraid.”

At first, Lu Yu felt somewhat touched by her saying she liked him, and then he was reminded by her next sentence.

His eyes lit up. Right, he had Small Healing Pills, almost twenty of them left in his ring! As long as they weren’t instantly killed, he could save them. If Small Healing Pills couldn’t save them, he could find more advanced medicine. He wasn’t alone now, so what was there to be afraid of?

Moreover, maybe these wolves would drop something good…

Lu Yu looked up, about to go find the wolves.

His pupils suddenly contracted.

A silver-gray giant wolf was leaping high in the air, flying over the wall of people built by the Matai, straight towards the back.

“Ah!” The little ones couldn’t help but exclaim.

Tai Lie, who had been standing like a mountain not far in front of them, stepped back two steps like lightning, extended his left hand, and swiftly grabbed the wolf’s neck, then twisted it.

The silver wolf, which had just been showing its teeth and claws a second ago, couldn’t even howl now, suddenly going limp.

Tai Lie casually threw the wolf aside.

Lu Yu thought he had adjusted his mood, but he still couldn’t help but feel nervous. Fortunately, Tai Lie didn’t tarnish the name of the Matai King and effortlessly dealt with the wolf.

Lu Yu was about to heave a sigh of relief when suddenly, another burst of wolf howls erupted in the air.

A large number of wolves were leaping from the sky towards the rear!

At this moment, the Matai in front, including the female Matai, were already in a deadlock with the wolves. Although they could occasionally turn around and support each other, the ones who could fully fight were only Tai Lie.

He threw away the wooden stick in his right hand, his muscles slightly bulging, and fought the wild wolves close-quarters combat without changing his expression.

A black wolf, with its fur turning black, was violently thrown into a corner.

It rolled over, got up, twitched its nose twice, and glanced around before stealthily hiding in the shadows…

Lu Yu was watching Tai Lie and the wolf pack fight, preparing to open his backpack, when suddenly, he caught a glimpse of a dark shadow passing by.

“Be careful!” Lu Yu shouted, pulling up the girl next to him, protecting her in his arms, turning his head down.

“Witch!” The little ones exclaimed.

Tai Lie turned his head, his pupils flashing violently, his momentum suddenly soaring, he tore open the wolves in front of him, and with terrifying speed, rushed towards Lu Yu’s direction.

The black wolf, leaping out of the shadows, extended its sharp claws and fiercely slashed Lu Yu’s back. Just as it was about to dig into his flesh, it was suddenly gripped by a big hand with bulging veins around its neck.

Before it could even make a sound to call its companions, its neck was broken by a terrifying force.

“Witch, are you okay…” The girl crawled out of Lu Yu’s arms, tears shimmering as she held onto his arm, choking.

“Hiss…” Lu Yu hissed, feeling a fiery pain on his back. He looked at the girl and grinned, “I’m fine, don’t cry.”

After all, he was a grown man, and the girl was still young. Facing a claw attack head-on, he didn’t know what would happen.

With a smile on his face, the young man, though looking relaxed, had several ferocious wounds on his fair and flexible back, with bright red blood oozing out, which was quite shocking.

Tai Lie furrowed his brows, about to walk towards him, when he saw him patting the girl’s head, and a small red pill appeared in his hand.

“I can heal the injury, it’ll be fine soon, you’ll see.” Lu Yu tossed the little red pill into his mouth.

After a few seconds, the wound on his back began to heal.

The collapsed-faced little ones finally smiled again, amazed, as they touched the wounds on Lu Yu’s back.

Tai Lie withdrew his steps, turned around, and continued to deal with the wolf pack.

He had just erupted violently, killing quite a few wolves. The remaining two or three were also taken care of by Matai who noticed the situation here, and now another batch leaped over. Lu Yu let the little oness carefully watch the surroundings, while he opened the game interface.

A light blue screen appeared, and a halo fell on the wolf in front of Tai Lie’s eyes.

[Gray Giant Wolf (Normal): Land Melee]

[Threat Level: D]

[Drop Rate: Big Healing Pill]

Lu Yu was overjoyed.

It was just as he had hoped. The Big Red Pill dropped by the Gray Giant Wolf was exactly what they needed most now!

The Small Red Pill could quickly heal wounds, and the Big Red Pill would definitely be stronger. It’s estimated that even if one’s arm or leg were broken, it wouldn’t be a problem.

Tai Lie killed the wolf and threw it aside.

Lu Yu looked at the dropped Big Red Pill but didn’t rush to pick it up. He seized the time to turn his head and search for more Gray Giant Wolves.

This intense but bloody battle lasted for about forty minutes.

In the end, there was a high-pitched and sorrowful howl outside the cave. This howl was different from the ordinary wolf howls, faintly carrying a sense of oppression.

The wolves still fighting heard the howl and immediately abandoned their companions’ bodies without hesitation, fleeing like the ebb of the tide.

The air was silent for a few seconds, then erupted into cheers.

“Ao ao ao, we won!”

“We drove away the wolf pack!”

“Roar roar roar!”

“We are brave Matais!”

Matai, who had just experienced a fierce battle, showed no signs of fatigue. Excited as if they had taken drugs, they waved their arms, shouted loudly, and jumped around.

Perhaps influenced by Xia Cao and the little girl’s words, seeing this scene, Lu Yu suddenly felt a bit angry.

“Stop all of you!” Lu Yu’s face was stern as he raised his voice.

His voice was somewhat crisp, creating a piercing effect amidst the rough shouts.

All Matai couldn’t help but stop and stare blankly at the thin and weak little witch they had picked up.

Lu Yu scanned them sternly, “Look at what kind of injuries you’ve got, don’t move around recklessly, sit quietly if you’re not stable!” Are they really stupid? Can’t they use their brains a bit more?

Some Matai man were covered in bloodstains, some had chunks of flesh torn off, and some were bitten deep enough to see their bones. It looked terrifying.

But Matai felt no pain at all. When other tribesmen were still alive, they could receive some care when they were injured, and the tribe would even pick some leaves to help them treat their wounds. But now, the only adult tribesmen left, including gentle Xia Cao, were originally responsible for hunting and wouldn’t bother.

After the victory in the battle, they would celebrate together, but no one, like Lu Yu, would stop them, warning them not to move recklessly when they were injured.

Matai suddenly felt a little at a loss.

Lu Yu commanded, “Now, those with shallow wounds, go and dispose of the wolf corpses, and those with deep wounds, find a place to sit quietly. I’ll distribute the pills.” He stood with his hands on his hips, his expression fierce, looking very difficult to deal with, as if daring anyone to defy him.

A few minutes ago, the fierce Matai mens were now obedient, behaving like big dogs held by the neck. After seeing the King nod, they immediately acted quietly.

Tai Lie also picked up the wolf corpses and prepared to go out.

He hadn’t taken a step yet when someone rushed out and stood in front of him.

“Where are you going?” Lu Yu squinted.

Tai Lie glanced at him, his throat suddenly a little dry, tightening the grip on the wolf’s hand, his voice hoarse, “I, handle, corpses.”

Pointing at the wound on his chest, Lu Yu said unkindly, “Your heart is about to be dug out, do you want to deal with your own corpse!”

Wait a minute!

As soon as the words were spoken, Lu Yu realized that something was wrong.

It’s one thing to scold others, but how dare he roar at the big boss, and even sarcastically? Has he eaten the heart of a bear and the guts of a leopard?

Lu Yu felt extremely panicked in his heart, but his face remained strong, and he turned his fingertips, “Go sit over there!”

Tai Lie paused for a moment, slightly stiffened, handed the wolf corpse to Xia Cao, who was smiling, and silently walked to the corner and sat down.

Shan Pu approached, smiling foolishly without eyesight, “King, you too…”

Tai Lie gave him a cool glance.

Shan Pu shivered, closed his mouth, and shrank back.

Lu Yu breathed a sigh of relief without leaving a trace.

Lu Yu looked around at everyone’s approximate condition, picked up the dropped Big Red Pill, and distributed it according to each person’s situation.

Originally, his plan was to follow these Matai people, use them to collect treasures, and then find a chance to escape. But after seeing today’s situation, he thought, even if he had treasures alone, could he really live in this dangerous place where wild beasts abound?

Instead of hiding all day, it’s better to just become a Matai witch.

They could obtain a lot of treasures together. While Matai fought in the front, he could arm them from behind.

One day, they would establish their own territory.
